Drive as Daniel Ricciardo for McLaren in the 2022 Formula 1 Championship

Cozy61 has already put together a fantastic 2022 championship, but will be taking a step back from the modding scene next year. After a discussion, we agreed that this would be the replacement. I'll also be creating the 2023 season when it's time to do so.

This is a custom championship built around a collection of skins and tracks, created by the extremely talented people in the Assetto Corsa modding community.

All credits can be found at the end of this page.

Minimum Requirements

Installation (in this order)

Note: It would be easier if I bundled everything up to install in one go, but there's a few reasons why I wouldn't. Firstly, it's a waste of resources hosting two of the same file. Secondly, if the resource is updated, I'd also have to update mine which takes time. Lastly, the original creators of the below assets should get the recognition and the download count, not me.


Step 01
Download and install both of the following required plug-ins. These allow advanced features on some tracks (on-track TV's, leader boards, etc) to function.

• ksPerPixelMultiMap
• stFlow Shader

Step 02
Purchase, download and install the Formula 1 car:

• Formula RSS Hybrid 2022

Step 03
Download and install the Formula 1 team skins. Do not drag and drop into content manager as most of these skins will by default install onto the 'S' version of the car, which is not used. Extract each one manually into the Formula RSS Hybrid (non-S version) 'skins' folder yourself.

Step 04
Download and install all of the following tracks. Simply drag and drop them into Content Manager to install.

Step 06
Download and extract the zip contents of the F1 2022 Helmet pack to your Assetto Corsa main installation folder (where the 'contents' folder is)

Download and install the F1 2022 Pirelli tyre pack by reading the installation instructions in the link

Step 08
Finally, place the contents of the included 'champs' folder into your Assetto Corsa 'champs' folder. This is usually located in:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Assetto Corsa\champs

Tips

• Faster than the AI? Edit the championship (Content > User Championships) and edit the grid preset. At the bottom, add your own restrictor and/or ballast.
  
  
• Want to change your main car? Edit the championship (as above) to swap it. Remember to add your car back into the AI grid, and remove the new car you're driving from the AI grid.

Notes

• If you want to enable RainFX (as per the screenshots), ensure you've installed a 'Preview' version of Custom Shaders Patch, and that 'Extended Physics' is enabled. Preview versions are paid versions.
  
  
• I've re-packaged and re-uploaded Pyyer's Monza extension so that it's a simple drag-and-drop installation, and now gives an extra F1 layout, rather than replacing the original Kunos track. The 2022 helmets were also re-packaged by me for the same reason.
  
  
• You can change the race length by navigating into Content > Miscellaneous > User Championships > Formula 1 2022 > Rounds. Here you can change the laps of each track. Don't forget to save it.

Troubleshooting

• If you receive:
  
  "AC ran into a critical error:
  CANNOT HAVE 0 CARS IN RACE.INI
  Your CSP version 0.1.79. Detailed a report"
  
  Then you've installed the tracks/extensions in the wrong order. Remove the tracks and extensions, install the tracks first, and the extensions afterwards.
  
  
• Jeddah is very intensive on the CPU at night. This is due to no light optimisation on the track.

UI Extras

If, like me, you'd rather keep the UI elements in-game and not use SimHub overlays, then the following can be used.

• Leaderboard app + Car RPM/Gears, DRS and Delta app
  These two AC apps (no need for SimHub) can be activated in-game and will give an authentic F1 game-style look and feel to the hud. Thoroughly recommended.
