The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare.

Same thing with that guy, if he is clicking on everything for a solid hour with absolute luck, there is a chance he could come up with the same track XD
Given the loading time of only the bushes in ksEditor though, i must be doubtful about his claim!

Anyways.
Let's put some progress pic here since i'm no longer secret gardener around LA.
I'm also secret stoner...

this is just one in hundred test i'm going through... might look nice but performance won't be that fun!

Whoaaaaaaaaaa that looks amazing! From your screenshots it appears as though you might be running at max or almost max settings. DOF blur is running for sure, full shadows ?

For AI races I run with PP disabled (road still looks great) for higher frame rates.

Amazing! Thanks so much for doing these.
Looking forward to trying angeles crest. I worked at the angeles crest building for over 10 years. Many rides up the crest.. and many tickets too!

Donated. Hope to try it soon!

Actually this happens to me also, but only lasts for the first few corners. After a few minutes it smooths out real nice. Are you using vr by any chance?

WAS LATE, HAD TO LOOP 3 times

hmm, joined the server while it was empty and drove a few meters, the log is full of this... what does it mean?

edit:

ok, the hick ups do happen on the "shmafoozius" server, I just joined the "Flat Out" server and it was totally fine (even tho the log shows the same Audio performance lines, but no WAS LATE, HAD TO LOOP in between).
Much smaller grid with only 16 slots, while the shmafoozius overs a woopin 57 slots, this may be the reason for my issues, hadn't noticed that huge number.

So it's related to either my server or the amount of cars. If it's the amount of cars, it's kind of strange that it has an impact like this as those cars are not even active... one would not think this can have an impact like this.

According to the information in a post of the official forums, this might be related to a too high CPU load. AC Support mentions that the issue might have to do with another running process in the background but the same might just happen in case the CPU is not keeping up I guess.

Thanks mate.
Well enjoy getting no tickets along these roads Charlie... An email should be heading your way. The extra roads are a little dangerous at the moment with no guardrails or roadsigns...
In comparison... the main loop now feels really safe (which it isn't lol)
Have fun exploring.

Thanks for the info @AccAkut.... @RasmusP did some diagnostics before for Pacific Coast... I can't remember the exact number... But I think it was around 55 when performance started dropping due to something on the network side.

Although I personally didn't have any real issues with the 118 slot Mansion Free Roam Pacific Coast server... Did lose around 5 - 10 fps IIRC

Maybe 40 - 50 cars might be an idea to try @shmafoozius ?
That would be a pretty cool cruise even that... ahemmmm... small number lol
125 pitboxes was put in for the Unreal Engine Version :D

Also Shmafoozius... any chance of a few more Porsche GT3's they were very popular...
and so awesome to drive around here!
Also great to drive with the 10 or so cool guys that were in there last night...
I also liked it that everyone does what they want... some people cruise in a group... a few people head off on their own...

It would be kind of a shame to reduce the number of available cars now. In fact, I wanted to look for a few good mod cars too add to the collection soon. Have to think about it.

/Edit: Still think ACs way of choosing cars in MP is extremely weird

Yeah that's fair enough... this track is a little bit on the huge side though...
Although saying that, it's performing around the same as 0.3... which had no objects.

I also think AC's server routines... weren't really designed with these numbers in mind. I have to say I didn't have any issues what so ever in your 57 slot server...
And I don't have a beast of a rig... 8350FX and single 1060 (6gb)...

I do have a 100mb internet connection though.

@AccAkut: For now I have reduced the network send rate on the server and made it use more cpu cores. Can you try again sometime? Just want to know if it has an impact on your issues. If this still does not help, it might really be that your machine can't keep up with the number of cars.

Could it be a Windows 10 service, or application running in the background?
Just a thought.... as I haven't made the move to Windows 10 and I'm having no issues.
EDIT:
After reading the thread on the official forums... one thing to try was disabling all apps... as apparently, in the case I read... the log was spammed by an outdated app. Could be some completely different set of circumstances... but worth a try if anyone has the issues.

Also I noticed that with the headlight shader mod... there were some lights continually being rendered where people had teleported back to the pits... Maybe it would be a good idea... If in a daytime server... for everyone to deacivate it?

As surely the co-ordinates of everyone teleporting back to pits.. would start to build up after a while.
Maybe the cpu threads aren't terminating from the shader mod when you go to pits.

Btw... As I may or may not have mentioned.. The Freeroam layout... has the same start/finish, and sector timing as the normal loop... So far... the record for fastest lap... with evidence... lol

Goes to.....

Well done @garyjpaterson you have the fastest lap of the new version as well :D

Lol I did try again with an F1 car, and as expected this layout is a lot slower, only got one lap in and it wasn't fast, 10 and a half minutes IIRC. Reckon under 10 is still doable once I learn the track a bit better.

I'm not actually sure it's a lot slower... It may have got a lot narrower... but because it's narrower the corners have opened up a little...
And where I've followed the real corners as accurately as I could...
It flows more naturally
The junctions are pretty tricky to take fast...
I like them though, they're a real challenge after the high speed corners of the rest of the track.
Yeah I think under 10 might be possible too...
what an adrenaline rush that would be...
And for an added challenge... trying to do it at night lol

Actually that could be a crazy challenge... let the Transit set off 10 and a half minutes before the F1 car... (who's having a tea break) and see who wins!

just tried it, no change, hickups in pretty much precisely 4 second intervals (I timed it). I did change my audio settings (set ENABLE_PERFORMANCE_SPEW= to 0 and MAX_CHANNELS= to 256 from 512, log is now without those entries I had before), but it did not change the behaviour on the server. I'm on Win 7 still, desktop PC, connected via wifi (dedicated card with external antenna)

Most likely an issue with my old CPU, 4 core Phenom II BE, maybe AC is checking some setting related to the 50 cars in cache in that 4 second interval which overloads it

Just tried to do a fast lap as I missed the start of our convoy on the server. Had to drive like a mad man to catch up. Once I got there I did not want to stop going fast. And what do you know. Ended in a frontal crash into the edge of one of the railings half way which resulted in a dead engine. :roflmao:
