DiRT 2.0 VR Support.jpg

After considerable encouragement from a vociferous community, Codemasters have finally confirmed VR support will be coming to DiRT Rally 2.0!

Yes, you heard it correctly - following a notable omission of Virtual Reality support in the most recent DiRT 4 rally game from Codemasters, and something of an intense campaign by a portion of the racing game community to make Codemasters understand just how sought after the inclusion of VR support really is for their next game, the English development studio have at long last confirmed that the upcoming DiRT 2.0 will indeed be in receipt of VR compatibility post release - hitting social media earlier today to confirm that a summer VR compatibility update will be made available for the PC version of the game!

Sadly for VR users this isn't all good news however. It appears that the Oculus Rift platform will be VR headset of choice for support within DiRT 2.0, with no mention of the impressive HTC Vive headset, or other compatible brands at this early stage. Now if this means just Oculus support, or if further headsets will be added later, remains open to debate.

Either way, it is wonderful to see how Codemasters have obviously been listening to their community in recent months, and once again hitting the stages in full VR is sure to be an incredibly impressive experience indeed..

I can't wait!

DiRT Rally 2.0 will release February 26th 2019.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read the first bit and immediately Pre ordered DIRT RALLY2 from Steam n the announcement of VR...... I have an Oculus Touch. From what little I've read here.... does that mean no VR for me because I bought from steam instead of Occulus!?!?!?!?!?.... I hate this $#it, only some games work on some platforms or with some hardware.... or....... add in whatever......

You have 2 hours to decide !
Life's to short for waiting around !
You have two hours even if you buy the game a year from now (if the steam policy remain the same ofc)
I'll buy it on sale next xmas, from the oculus store or steam, we'll see how they decide to pan this out.

If you own the Oculus version of DR you can't play it outside the headset, or at least i wasn't able to do it i'll ended up buying DR twice due to that "problem", VR is a marvel but isn't my everyday cup of tea and for sure I can't use for more than 45min straight (even less in hot summer days with ac on too), so i got a Steam version too for the astonishing price of 2.99$ and play that on my trusted monitor.

Tin Foil Hats . Why would Oculus waist money on a single driving game when they have massive VR followed genres? Don't make sense. I heard Sean Cole and Billy Strange Love Suggesting this silly Conspiracy Theory, ?? I think in this case it is what it is. imho
Huh conspiracy?
Seems perfectly logical to me, why else would they only release on one vr platform? Oculus have a history of investing in developers. I would imagine the deal would be a timed exclusive but lets see.

and you haven't heard of the vomitting, the disorientation and the refunds? really really find someone who owns it to try it out, it seems rash to invest in sth. where you have no clue how your nervous system will react to it. totally objective me, never owned one and not interested either.
But most people feel ill when they first use it. Most people get used to it after a few weeks so not sure trying a friends will help with that, although i think its a good idea to try it so you can see what the quality is like.

I never felt any kind of those symptoms from day 1. Maybe disorientation, but that's kind of what you want - to lose track of the real world, and only with the room tracking stuff where I'd take my headset off and immediately think 'oh wow I didn't realise I'd moved to the other end of the room'.

You won't get that with racing games because you're seated.

Much of the nausea was caused by early VR conversions that didn't have good implementation. Oculus have 'comfort' ratings on all of their titles that indicate how easy the title is on the old VR legs.

Steam appear not to care about quality so just allow any old cowboy to put any old rubbish up on their store.

how about... 3D GLASSES ?!
how is this so difficult to make in recent games?
all recent TV do that, cinema and all, but game industry have forgotten all about it...
yet it's much more simple to develop than VR

why whyyyyyyyyyy
