Just try it. If you now have vanilla AC then nothing is damaged with it. You can clean Shader Patch and Sol just by deleting the files and folders.
If you start right now, it would be the best you start even with the beta of Sol. Many things are fixed in this.

Performance hit is not that many, except you use VR, but it had its impact even before Shader Patch/Sol.

If you realy start as a virgin:

Download Content Manager
https://acstuff.ru/app/latest.zip
- Unzip it to AC root folder
- Start Content Manager.exe

Download latest Shader Patch
https://trello.com/c/TIWtynNR/59-v0125-preview49
- Drag'n'drop it to CM -> Open menu (symbol becomes green) -> press install

Download latest Sol beta

- Drag'n'drop it to CM -> Open menu (symbol becomes green) -> press install(edited)

Sorry for the dumb question, but is moonlight simulated? I didn't have much time to test, but last night I drove on a multiplayer server at Transfagarasan and the night seemed very dark even though I could see the moon. Maybe it's me and I have to get used to it.

Yes, moonlight is simulated. The brighter/fuller the moon the more light it disperses. You can even see the moonlight's reflection on the cars. It's very well done IMO.

This is not a ok post if its for me.I donated some projects more than once and bought mods that I like but I like to try before buy...thats why some of the best pay mods I will never support because I can't try them first and they are not cheap...they loss...
BTW ...outstanding work on CM, patch and SOL!!!
Feldberging race with day to night transition is epic.Donation is coming...I just have to learn to be quick in CM..took me a lot to make AI oponent list its hard for me to read cars and pick them instead of clicking on picture and add them.Also I dont see clear all oponents option.
About SOL install...I used guide above and I have to update CM....then I only get SOL to work by manual install everything from mods/sol to folders in AC that I saw files go and delete sol folder from mods...now is working but In weather i have Sol and Mods tab..if I choose weather before race from Mods it dont work.But it work if I choose from Sol tab...maybe Its my fault because its all new for me but its all working now.Performace is also unbeliveble with night rain etc!

I've seen quite a few "SOL servers" popping up lately but whenever I open AC Server Manager, it doesn't launch. How do you fix this?

If you do it with CM or JSGME it's easy to install, it's not replacing any files just adding about 50 new weather scripts. You might need to turn off parts of the shader patch too though.

It is fixed in Sol 1.1 beta. If you look at Sol's Discord server, you will find a channel called #install-works. Just follow the steps. https://discord.gg/nXuNTFV

Mabye ive done something wrong but i cant get this thing to work When i press start race the track loads but not the car. And when the loading comes to the car it automaticly stops and throws me out of the game

I have the same issue... but probably we overseen something, but i couldn´t found it
an intresting point is, if i start a career race or a online race, it works ... but if I start a training session with the AMG GT3 (AC-Content) it trough me out with the message `race cancelled`.
also with the EVO 190, there was this message:

i´ve checked the data, couldn´t found anything abnormal...

Well, i think i have to reinstall everything.
P.S.
I´m sure this has nothing to do with the SOl-Mod

I followed the instructions in the pdf, but the mod doesn't work for me.
I can select sol mods in the content manager at the weather tab, but if i launch a game there is no clouds and no night even though i choose 23:59 for time.
There is no weather fx tab in the content manager.
I have done it 3 times, but the result is always the same What am i missed? I dont use a lot of mods (only a few cars and tracks, nothing more).

No weather FX means you don’t have the shader patch installed. SOL needs that to work correctly.

Just follow Peter's attached manual and you should be fine. ;-)
It's a step-by-step guide.
And, like @Johnr777 said: You need the Shaders Light Patch.
