Unexpected great news again. The best Sim keeps and keeps improving in
content and visuals. Great Stuff.

The Bentley GT3 will kick ass, and will look as good as the Ferrari GTE with
its up to date model and interior visuals. The Ferrari GT3 will match them
soon too. All new upcoming cars will be updated to today's visuals and
detail standards found in other Sims like ACC. Visuals add immersion too,
so let's wish for them to enjoy even more the Sim.

Loch Drummond reminds me a bit of the classic Toban track. Lovely tracks.
I wish all classic tracks and cars could be redone with new textures, more
realistic trees and detailing too.

Old bugs being fixed, and the new UI soon to be finished. Very nice. Can't
wait for all these updates and fixes. Thanks for the hard work.

@Marcel Offermans, I just read your post here. Thanks for listening to us. if
you read this, please give it a thought to creating old classic cars packs, like
touring cars from the 90s, DTM and such, 'touring cars legends' from the
60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, you know - most sim racers here would love them and
I'm sure they will be a great success for rFactor 2. Thanks.

Not sure where this was promised, but it was changed to only loading these fav servers once, instead of each time when you access the race menu. It takes 1-2 seconds per time I startup an play rF2 now, which is fine with me.

They also changed earlier that no restart of rF2 is necessary anymore when new Workshop content is installed, which was one of my main annoyances of earlier beta UI‘s released.

I am curious what S397 will consider a stable enough new UI release, since the current one displays a lot of question marks for content instead of thumbnails and incorrect details on content (e.g. circuit length is still 21 km for each circuit layout).

These new free Stock Car 2018’s and updated Loch Drummond are very welcome, thank you Studio 397! Also nice to add 2 new GT3’s soon. I would have liked to know what new circuit will be added though... still hoping for a Spa Francorchamp, since the current mod versions are not working well on my system.
The question marks ? are up to the individual mod creators to replace. Many are waiting til they have both a tool to simplify the process and a stable enviroment so they don't have to change the icons again if S397, for whatever reason, makes changes that render the icons UN-usable.

I understand it is up to mod creators to do this, but I think official ISI and Studio 397 content should all have thumbnails on release and also the Reiza pack, which is sold via the RF2 Steam Item Store, should have them.

I’ve been considering an iRacing subscription to get some good oval racing in, because although I prefer offline racing, the existing oval content on rF2 just didn’t seem right. So I was really excited to see updated stock cars hoping that would save me from the Uber expensive iRacing.

Started practice on Palm Springs (Homestead) with AI at 100%, default setup was very under-steery, but not nearly as terrible as the default on the old stockcars. A few tweaks to wedge and track bars later I had a decently usable setup that had me fastest by 1/10th or so, easy neutral handling, and spent quite some time in traffic, feeling how the AI behaved and it was pretty darn good. They were predictable, held a line, seemed aware, only problem was a bit over slow mid-corner before rubber banding back up in the straights But nothing unplayable.

i quit out of practice and loaded up a race so I would start mid-pack so I could enjoy that good AI behavior more. And that’s when my hopes for this saving my wallet from iRacing evaporated. The same setup (yes I made sure to load the setup I crafted in practice) WOULD. NOT. TURN. I had to check to make sure my wheel was still plugged in. Restarted a few times. I had to slow way harder corner entry and mid-corner to have a hope and I would just get mugged by the AI I was previously outpacing. And all their awareness was gone as they just piled straight into me no matter where I was. Tried turning down the AI pace, reset, and that just made the lack of awareness worse. Oval AI remains completely unraceable but is ok in practice. I don’t get it, but I give up. IRacing, here I come.

You may well dissagree with some of the points in this especially on the pricing system but I had to rush this one out as I dont got much time no more, so to be honest i just skimmed over that and tried to just focus on the positives cause I know RF2 has its flaws (like the Radicals tire sounds not working in the wet Grrr!) and you're all aware of them, plus I already had a moan about that earlier on in the thread, but Im happy to get the updates (lovely surprise to wake up to on me day off!) and I love tis sim worts 'n' all, so I made this cause its more fun doing it in video format than typing for ages:

People who bought the DiRT Rally 2 Deluxe Edition pre-release (or extremely early before it was removed), had to buy DLC season 3+4 full price.
People who only bought the normal DiRT Rally 2 and upgraded to deluxe later got it for cheaper as it was in a bundle.
However, the pre-relase deluxe edition was never recognized as an actual deluxe editon... Made me quite pissed.
The pre-release deluxe edition clearly stated it contains Season 1 and 2. No more. You were never promised anything more than that. You paid for the game, pre-release bonuses and two seasons of content, and you got exactly that. If you wanted to get season 3 and 4, then you of course had to buy them on top of that, because the deluxe edition did not include them.

It makes *me* quite pissed when people make it seem like Codemasters did something dishonest there. They did not. They were very upfront about what the Deluxe edition includes from the very beginning.

If you feel like you didn't get your money's worth by buying the deluxe edition, then that's your prerogative, I guess, but it's not like you weren't told up front what you're getting.

Oh. I wasn't really prepared to do this again, but you don't understand what I mean.

Buy the game, with Season 1+2 and 3+4 is in a bundle (DR 2.0, 1+2 and 3+4). This gives a bundle rebate.
Have the base game. Wanting season 1-4 you get to buy(Deluxe Upgrade and 3+4) as a bundle. This gives a bundle rebate.
Having the base game, and the Deluxe Upgrade. Then wanting to to buy season 3+4, that is in a bundle. This gives a bundle rebate.

The common thing in the bundles is that what you own (base game, Deluxe Upgrade) is removed, so you don't pay for that. You do however still get that bundle rebate is you buy a bundle, even though you just pay for one product.
That way, if you had DiRT Rally 2.0 + Deluxe Upgrade, you would get a rebate when buying season 3+4.

However. The ones who bought the Deluxe Edition (before they decided to remove the Deluxe Edition and only have a "Deluxe Upgrade") would not have their Deluxe recognized. So if Deluxe owners were going to buy 3+4, they had to buy full price. As if they tried to buy a bundle, they also bought the "deluxe upgrade", as Codemasters did not connect the Deluxe Edition to Deluxe Upgrade even though it was the same content and gamewise.

This is not the case anymore as the GOTY-Edition is out, but it was a thing.

And I knew what I got in the Deluxe Edition. I'll never accept that I had to pay more for season 3+4 because I bought that, compared to everyone who didn't.

Ok Mr Video guy, perhaps you could make a vid of a car that actually has wet tire sounds and back to back it with the radicals. Make it short....I mean a minute at most. Put something that @Christopher Elliott liot can upload to the bosses or the quality control guys. Show one car, then the Radical, Show again the first car splashing around and then again the Radical in stealth mode. That should be enough. Upload to the bug section I would think.

Good updates but the new discounts on steam packages remain useless for those who would like to buy tracks outside of packages.

They are repeating the same mistake over and over. I'm not saying discounts shouldn't happen, but why buy content when it releases for rF2 when they will seemingly bundle it for a much more reasonable price later down the road (for the updated Radical only a couple months after release)? Before someone throws the stupid "it's a cup of coffee quit complaining" argument, the cost to own all rF2 content is much more than a cup of coffee, and while no you don't have to own all the content, an argument could be made that for the entire cost of rF2 you could get a few sims with much more content than what rF2 offers.
Yes, and i have to say that a cup of coffe in my city costs 1.20 € only, i don't know where they are living the "coffe guys", but one car for 5 € is a madness, when you have dozens in AC for the same prize currently, yeeess, i know, the FFB is awesome, blablabla... a game must be more than a ****ing FFB, i've uninstalled RF2 one year ago and i don't miss it, sincerely.

I can't stand the trees. They're ridiculously lit, much like the neon trees in AC's Spa. Does their artist need to see an eye doctor, ya think? At least with a Dev mode available soon, maybe a 3rd party artist can fix them ...?

Never really drove the Nascar cars much before this update, so I can't judge any differences.

@S397
1) When you guys released the Nordschleife, you said that you were collecting reference for the old Sudschleife. Is this still in your plans?
2) The Radical SR3 has a terrible sound, nowhere near to the real thing. Can you please improve it?
3) Will the Honda NSX and the Corvette Grand Sport get some love in the future? These are still some of the best handling cars of the game.

Another update with content added but emphasis on actually completing the base game only secondary. S397 please finish the game and get it working properly as a stand alone game. Other studios have released two games complete and you still haven't completed one. Very dissapionting.

Then why comment on a game and waste energy on something you aren't interested in? We get it, FFB and handling isn't the most important thing for you so maybe just be happy with your prefered products and move on. Cars might be on the expensive side but on the other hand it's possible to pick stuff up in sales and considering that cars require different workflows in different sims it doesn't make much sense to complain about the pricing per se, especialy if you are done with the product and don't know the inns and outs of the development process. I suspect they won't get rich.

Regarding the new UI and comp infrastructure I hope that they make some substantial advancements before they make the new UI the default one because there are some issues that need to be ironed out. The MP browser is still very barebones with no info about used tracks and cars and the whole menu structure is still very wierd and uber complicated.

The rest is very good news and it's nice to see them upgrading old and free content to implement new tech so I have no idea where people find anything to complain about in this Roadmap, but it's just as it is. You'll never please everyone and even adding 24 compunds to a car for free doesn't cut it. This time they got basicly everything right and it's still not right. Same nonesense as people complaining about the GT4 DLC for ACC.

In the end, I just ended up grabbing the new Nurb Pack + the Two Strong Pack, all of which is new content for me.
Ditto, though I also added the pair of FE tracks that weren't bundled. Basically leaves the Ferraris missing from my collection.
