Main changelog for v1.20:

Content

Cars:
  • Added Stock Car V8 2014 season to Stock Car V8 series
  • Added Formula Extreme series
  • Added Formula Vee series
  • Completed full Formula V12 field + updated graphics
Tracks:
  • Buenos Aires (4 layouts)
  • Spielberg (2 layouts)
  • Spielberg Historic
Features & fixes:
  • Added DRS functionality + rules (for F-Extreme / f-Reiza)
  • Added option to restrict prime / option tire compound selections per track
  • Revised tire physics on all cars in preparation to new tire model features currently in development
  • Added multiple tire compound options with corresponding tirewall colors to F-Extreme / F-Reiza
  • Adjusted dirty air physics for more realistic behavior
  • Adjusted engine cooling properties in all cars
  • Adjusted AI performance for wider range specially in lower strentgh settings, and more consistency all around from track to track, series to series
  • Fixed bug with AI performance discrepancy from quali to race (RaceQualRatio=XX parameter now works in AIW files, lower than 1.0 value will result in slower qual times relative to race, higher values will do the opposite. By default AI should be about 2% faster in quali; remains an issue with AI being too quick in practice sessions)
  • Increased rearview mirror resolution for all cars
  • Corrected FOV / POV + tv cameras to the same standards for all cars
  • Updated rumble sounds to be more "bassy" on all cars (for Buttkicker and other similar systems)
  • Adjusted trackside cameras in all tracks for more realistic framing / tracking
  • Adjusted some inconsistent road & terrain properties, fixing some overdone high frequency bumps
  • Various environmental / lightining enhancements (new skies / fog and other updated shaders);
  • Introduced new Foliage shader which looks better & is more optimized to provide performance boost
  • Added 3d tyre lods at Granja Viana to help ease performance issues
  • Added 3d Armco at Interlagos

Known issues:
  • The F-Extreme ERS system has been simplified for this release - basically, the battery is fully charged all the time and the power blending still needs work, meaning the driveability under throttle is not quite what it should be yet;
  • The AI for the F-Extreme does not use 8th gear or DRS;
  • The hard compound for the F-Extreme & F-Reiza does ot have its proper orange Pirelli sidewall label.
  • Championship races are being awarded double points.
All these should be sorted out in time for the next update.

Ah yes, they are hefty but powerful beasts, should be great fun !
I remember when we first saw them appear in Formula 6 the chassis had to be widened to fit them in & the seat was off to one side.

I don't know if the correct term is stuttering, but since updating to 1.20 and then 1.21 I am experiencing some annoying issues that have me baffled. As the race starts the screen (game) appears to skip or pause momentarily so the game play is jerky. The strange thing is it only does it for the Formula V, F3, Formula Retro, Karts, Old Stock Cars & Formula Reiza. All the other cars, F-Classic, F-Extreme,V12, Nini, Camaro & V8 Stocks run perfectly. I have turned off shadows, time scale to none but it still happens. I didn’t experience this problem before the 1.20 update. Can anyone shed some light on what it might be. I have done two vanilla installs and it happens on both.

Cheers

At last, seeing large grids in the club races and the great work and support of Reiza guys here, I've bought the sim.
Great buy, I expect great racing for sure.
Being a rF2 guy too ( very slow ), one of the features that I like and I miss in GSC is "vehicle set" for the rotation of the wheel, you have a real setting if you want. Maybe we have it in the future. Who knows.:whistling:
I knew that GSC did not have that feature, I searched (here ;))
and the GSC2013FAQ recommend a more realistic setting (540 ° on the wheel and 20/22 ° for the steering lock).
But it would be great if Reiza guys could give us real settings for each car, a small list, I don´t care to change them manually.
Without having to confuse with google and youtube and often assume what is the real setting as in the days of rF1.
Greetings.

Hi guys. Reiza has done an awesome job and I really believe GSC Extreme is the best sim out there for the price. What I appreciate even more is that it is so easy to mod (additional content obviously)
I have carried over the F1 1991 mod from rFactor - but have been working on a couple of "upgrades" on my Team's cars as well as the Austria (Red Bull Ring) track. I am from South Africa and plan to host 4 championships next year. (Classic F1 1991 - 10 Race championship) on classic significant tracks like Imola where Mr Senna past away, The 24km Nurburgring where Niki Lauda had his accident, the classic long Interlagos track, Kyalami where Price also had fatal accident etc. So the tracks will not be season bound. Because Reiza's ai is also done so well... we will fill the grid with AI so that each race has 34 cars on track. The other championships will be a F1 2014 based championship with reiza's Extreme cars. A DTM championship and last but not least an Endurance championship. The 3 tier qualifying which was added in version 1.20 is an awesome addition, but Reiza removed it with version 1.21. So I have manually applied all version 1.21's changes back to version 1.20 except the removing of the 3 session qualifying. For me it works perfectly. Only took some customization on all the track's .gdb files. I will stick to my version 1.20 untill Reiza release version 1.25 and the 3 tier qualifying is re introduced.
Anyway - I will post some pics a bit later.

BTW - is GSC better than rFactor? It supports all the mods rfactor does... but it also gives you the 8th forward gear support rfactor doesn't and it also gives you 3 Sessions qualifying.
Go Reiza!!!!

If you have managed to get the 3 qual sessions working properly, can you please post the steps you took to make it work. Everything worked for me from Q1 to Q3 but when I finally went to the race, the grid was wrong. If you could post any gdb / rfm changes and any files you changed it would be appreciated :)

Will do so this evening since I am at work currently.
If I recall correctly, I had to do 2 things. 1 was to create my own rfm file for the series I wanted to race. In my case it was the 1991 Classic F1 mod from rFactor. After converting to CSG using the tool... there isn't an rfm file, and the mod can only be found in All Cars/All Tracks selection. However... you create the rfm where you then also insert things like tracks (For offline career purpose - which is pretty neat) and you also add the whole qualifying session settings. Where you can specify how many cars must be dropped after each session... etc.
THEN you also need to go to each track's .gdb file and add the info to them as well. BTW... if anyone here didn't know... you can also enter pre-set pit strategies for each ai on the grid. Hell you can even add on which lap an AI should have mechanical failure or even accident. If you'd like to race an historical event and have the AI finish that actually did so in real life for instance... no disrespect intended IF anyone use this info to make Ayrton crash at Imola for instance... Besides... this is also why I used the 1991 mod... cause I prefer how he lived and not how he passed. Best racer EVER... in imho. Anyway - how this helps... I will add the specific data tonight. Also other things... I managed to get rfDynHud to work perfectly... but even more important - NOT that I am saying anyone should change anything standard on GSC... but I did a nice UI (User Interface) where I also added menu items like nr of qualifying sessions etc. Also the upgrade options that some mods have which you can't select standard. Screenshots will be added shortly.

Here is a couple of pics so long... My own 1991 Honda on a modified Austria track. (Added things like flying media choppers, mountain range and sponsorship boards... but I do not take credit for the standard Austria track) Let me know what you guys think. (I have a complete 2014 Season track pack) - I also have the only proper Russia - Soshi track with buildings, and other stuff like huge TV screens for the crowds showing real footage from this year's season so far (Will obviously look much more interesting if it can display replay from the real Soshi race... but it takes a lot of time and attention, and I work alone... so it takes forever) and also the flying around media choppers... But it still needs a bit of attention. Unless I've seen the real thing - there's no way to be very accurate. Next I want to try and figure out how to add ambient sounds like the crowd cheering, commentators over the loud speakers and sounds of the helicopters when they fly low enough.

Angelq117, thanks for the reply, it would be great if it works. (although does going back to ver 1.20 exe upset anything else, for example I believe Reiza edited the Extreme cars physics?)
I am familiar with gdb & rfm editing & I agree it's great for offline racing. I thought I'd tried everything with the qual sessions but I couldn't get it working properly. Q2 & Q3 just would not update correctly, and the starting grid was always wrong, so I'll be very interested if your settings can solve it thanks :)
BTW Mountains look good, and great job on the Honda skin.

Thanks. We're not really currently driving with the Extremes so hopefully the 1.25 update will be done & dusted by the time we do.
Too bad they don't share the .hdv files though. Would have loved to be able to duplicate the physics etc on the 2014 mod from rfactor. Then not only would we have a similar feeling car, but also looking car. But I understand FIA licencing etc is a problem. Same can be said for using a 1991 mod with Senna in, which I apologize for. But it makes the game twice as enjoyable for me knowing I can go wheel to wheel with legends like Senna, Prost, Shumi etc. Even if I am last... seeing Senna and Prost lap you at the same time left & right is AWESOME. :)
Reiza would have worked on a Senna mod not true? Wonder what happened to that idea.

Some more pics, of the UI too.

Will be honest, not really sure whose textures it is, but I found it in an Audi R8 from Grid or Forza... really can't remember. I simply used Photoshop to change the colors of driver suit & cloves as well as sponsorship logos on each suit. It's an HD "Arms" template and I then applied it into the GMT.mas folder of each car. Took a while but looks brilliant. I use the same textures for all my cars, coz I believe there should be hands on the wheels when sitting in the cockpit. Just searched for BariCZ's templates now... will save me a ton of time. Thanks.

Just downloaded bariCZ's stuff now. Will give it a go. I had to change a bit here and there to make it fit. Wasn't too hard though.
Most difficult part is getting GSC's gmt & dds files uncrypted so you can edit them with 3dsimed or photoshop. I won't call myself a modder... but I LOVE changing things up to a personal level of enjoyment. Real sim racer fanatics like us don't really mind that the graphics lack a bit here and there... but I honestly think that by tweeking here and there... we could make people who think Codemasters' F1 titles are the best, to try GSC and finally get the online community on the same level as rFactor. I am struggling my ass off to get people to join our league. That's why I am filling the grid with ai, and created a team car with each of my current 5 driver's names on the rear wing. We'll be sharing setups, strategies etc and will be racing against the AI rather than each other. (Constructors). Nice to actually have a place where I can share some of my ideas and get some back. Thanks for taking time to come back and chat a bit.
Appreciate it.

btw, I realize that this post initially started with the topic of shuttering etc. I also use the .dll file mentioned earlier, and none of my league members have any shuttering. Considering that we race with 34 cars on the grid on each track and that I beefed up the car skins and tracks with moving objects - I think the shuttering thing isn't necessarily bound to the update or the new Reiza content. I think it might have been because of GPU driver compatibility or something.
