Codemasters have revealed the first round of post release DLC for DiRT 2.0 - and it has plenty of very sweet content set to hit the sim.

With release day set for later this month, Codemasters have already taken the bold decision to announce the first wave of post release DLC content set to hit the rally driving simulation, and it is already taking shape to be a very, very impressive collection of both cars and rallies lined up to come to the title following public release.

Noted as the first "season" of DLC content, with more set to follow later, the first load of additional paid addons for the game will include no less than three returning rally events from the original DiRT Rally, spread over an 11 week post release period. Back and substantially upgraded from DiRT Rally comes the famous Monte Carlo, Swedish and German events, giving a nice mix of snow, ice and tarmac surfaces for players to sample the new physics and features of DiRT 2.0.

Also forming part of the 11 week update schedule will be new cars - notably the ŠKODA Fabia and Subaru Impreza fan favourites.. so plenty to get stuck into for players of the game.

“It was important for us to not just include brand new content for DiRT Rally 2.0, but also to recognise the fan favourites from the previous titles”, commented Ross Gowing, Chief Games Designer. Gowing continued, “The improvements the team have made for DiRT Rally 2.0 are plain to see, and Monte Carlo is a shining example of that. I think it looks incredible, and I hope our players feel the same way too. We are making a significant commitment to expanding the DiRT Rally 2.0 experience for the players that have been calling for us to do exactly that over a number of years.”
Fear not those of you who are thinking the returning rallies will merely be a rehash of DiRT Rally content - the new stages have undergone significant updates for inclusion in DiRT 2.0, enjoying visual upgrades thanks to the new lighting system, and of course benefitting from the new for DiRT 2.0 track materials improvements. Previews of the Monte Carlo rally stages can be seen in the images below, already looking considerably improved from what was a very solid baseline in DiRT Rally:

It is nice to see the Impreza WRC, the Focus WRC and the Manta back along with the updated versions of the tracks from Dirt Rally 1. However it isn't cool that they are selling this as the part of a season pass. I hope they make free for the owners of Dirt Rally 1 because I don't want to pay for the same content twice.

I don’t mind the DLC. I’m just disappointed it’ll be just the routes I have already played through and memorized some of them. Unless the physics are way, way better than the first one (which was great already), why wouldn’t I just fire up the old game when I want to run those stages?

What makes you think that the base is not a full game? You have the same amount of locations and more cars than in DiRT Rally. And once where we were all of you, saying it's half a game, when Assetto Corsa Competiziome charged 25€ for like 3 cars and 3 tracks, and before the game launch they released a roadmap? I haven't seen nearly anyone there, crying that it's shady tactics, and it's almost the same as DR2.0. Oh, I forgot it was Kunos, that is praised here for everything they do. I still consider RD as one of the best sim racing communities, but some of really need to get less biased.

You can't compare DR 2.0 to another non full product like DR who didn't even had half the calendar/countries.

You completely missed the point with ACC EA !
I bought ACC on day one of EA and it was really cheap and I am getting all the tracks and cars for free after that.

With WRC 7 and 8 you get all the 14 countries and latest cars on day one.

Now tell me Codies isn't in it mainly for the $$$

And there is no Sim about any Codies games.
It might just appear like that for those who never driven a real car.

You see, barrel rolls ONLY exists in arcade games and not in real life !

By saying that I assume you have a lot of experience in rally cars. Tell me please what rally car and in which championship have you driven?

Yes, the base game is expensive enough on first party stores, I agree. But that's what happens when you have kind of a monopoly. If you want a modern rally simulation, DiRT is kind of your only choice (I haven't tried WRC but from things I heard, especially the FFB, I would not enjoy it).

Don't get me wrong I am not protecting them. I am only saying they will try to milk it with the premium price and discount when the sales go lower. If you are a so called patient gamer you will probably get the whole package for 20 in a year and a half.

In the end of the day, they offer us something and we have a choice. If the "deal" is bad, then we don't buy. So they alter the deal. And they pray they don't have to alter it any further /s(tarwars)

WRC 7 is the only Rally game/sim that has given me similar thrills like RBR !

If you like rally games you are REALLY missing out and very soon the EVO mod is coming out and will hopefully extend the life span further.

As a long time RBR fan I read all the negative comments regarding WRC 7s FFB but in the end I decided to give it a try and all I can tell you is that it's still on my SSD along with RBR AC, PC2 & ACC.

The FFB isn't great ( Better than DR though ) but does the job and the different surfaces all feel different. The stages look and feel totally fantastic too (Actually better than RBR IMHO ) !

Give it a try for an hour and a half and if you don't like it you get your money back !

You got nothing to loose !

Well that is a bit silly of you but I can tell you that I have been driving cars aggressively on gravel roads and I know how that feels.

Have you been driving a car at all ?

Well it wasn't me who said that the game feels unrealistic so I don't feel like I should answer this question. What car were you driving on this gravel roads?

A friends Subaru Impreza and you still haven't answer my question !
Maybe you are underage ??? ;)

The first thing that I felt with DR1 was that when you took the foot of the accelerator the cars stopped way too fast and that felt really odd and wrong !

They made it feel a bit better during the EA but to me it felt just like it was scripted just like all of the other Codies games where the cars seems to be attached to some invisible guide rails or something.
Very odd feeling when you know how it feels in a real car !

Maybe I am, maybe I am not. I doesn't matter because I didn't made a statement about the game realism. In perfect world person who makes a bold statement, has responsibility to defend. I could as well be 5 year, and it doesn't make your statement better. To put it simple. You have said it's unrealistic and you should prove that you have a experience to say so, not I. But it's just an Internet forum, so I don't have much hope that anyone actually follows this rules, and rather goes for ad personam statement

It's OK, most Codemasters fans are underage so you are in good company ;)

I missed out on RBR when I was young (no wheel, not much internet and no English knowledge to get ideas about what's good so I played Xpand Rally and Rally Championship Xtreme (<- fav) on PC w/ keyboard and CMR on PS1) and now I wouldn't enjoy it due to the dated graphics and some other details. I was thinking about getting WRC7, I even might, just didn't hear/see any positivity about it. Might have been looking in the wrong places (like DiRT threads :D). I just have a couple of questions about it (sorry for OT)...
1. Is the steering animation 1:1 (at least up to some point/degree)?
2. I saw in videos that the faster you go the camera in cockpit view moves backward. Can you disable it?

I find it funny when people who have never driven a real car claim that Codemasters games have anything to do with a sim !
I didn't. In fact I haven't mentioned anything about my opinion on driving model, but I have seen that you don't pay attention to what I write, you rather assume, what I write. So based on the things above, I don't really think there is a point to continue this topic. Thanks for constructive discussion

I might give WRC 7 a try now that I'll be waiting longer than anticipated for Dirt 2.0, cheers.

Why such a drama ? Just don't buy it , it so simple ."Just don't buy it" is the most powerful weapon that we gamers have against companies like UBISOFT , EA , Codemasters ........................ . Are you a goats ?

I'm pretty sure Game developers read forums such as this one. (if they don't, shame on them!).

If a segment of the customer group is unhappy with a direction a game takes, well then it's important that they can voice their opinion somewhere. I agree, boycotting the product is the strongest form of protest, but customers venting in forums can be pretty powerful also.

1. Don't think so ( I usually drive with Hood/Bonnet view ! )
2. I haven't noticed that as I mostly use Hood/Bonnet view

If you haven't tried RBR you are REALLY missing out something !

You can get it on eBay for next to nothing.

To tell you the truth since I got WRC 7 I have been using RBR less and less !

WRC 7 has all the countries and the latest cars, and audio is also superior but RBR is still very enjoyable once you get the hang of it !

I remember when I got my Fanatec handbrake and could literally feel the neck hairs stand on end driving the stages in France with all the hairpins :)

I find it funny when people who have never driven a real car claim that Codemasters games have anything to do with a sim !

I used RBR to learn and train to drive on loose surface.
I applied that to real life driving, had what I would call success in racing IRL.
When DR was first released, I wasn't happy. It felt better than the latest DiRT games, but it wasn't right. It got better, but not great. However, I could apply the knowledge I had, both from actual driving, and theory. It worked. I could write down driving guides for the RDRC Magazines, with real driving theory, it worked, and it helped people. DR was still far from perfect, but things from theory and practice IRL could be used in DR and get the results you expected.
D4 wasn't anything like it. D4 was, for me, awful.

I've never gotten the feel for the WRC games, it doesn't do what I expect. Incidentally I tried V-Rally 4, and with an xbox controller, I could get the old Escort to behave somewhat like I expected, but there was still something off. Just like the WRC games, I just couldn't get any feel with a wheel.

DR 2.0 is, from what I've read, and heard private, a real proper evolution of DR. It certainly won't be perfect, but if it's true, that it is a better version of the original DR. Then I would expect all the driving theory to work, and that would make me, and others very happy.

Now, there is a certain advantage in having real life experience when judging games and sims. At the same time, there are loads of theory available, on how to drive, what to do and how the cars should react. If you can apply those, and they work like it says it should work. Then I would call that a success, even though there are aspects that's not perfect.

Just like the feather-like cars in RBR isn't perfect.

Regardless, there shouldn't be any reason to discuss persons. That goes for you, and anyone else here.
