Which Circuit Would You Like to See Digitalised in a Game or Mod?

bridgehampton.jpg
While researching racing circuits around the globe, I have come across many circuits without any digital representation. And that's a shame. Whether hosting races now or in the past, circuits should be digitalised to preserve a bit of history. So, I would like to ask you, which circuit without digital representation would you like to see featured?

I have talked about this topic before. My first article on RaceDepartment, "The Importance of Modding in Sim Racing", already mentioned that digitalisation means preserving a bit of history.

How Developers Could Benefit from Historic Venues

However, it is not only the modders who can keep historic venues alive. The game developers themselves could take a good look at past circuits to feature in their works. At the moment, Reiza seems to be the only professional development studio somewhat focusing on historical content.

And thinking about it, that is weird.

Racing game developers have one massive pool to drown their money in: licensing costs. Licensing cars, licensing circuits, and those licenses are not cheap! This begs the question of how smaller development teams could save a lot of money by not licensing those expensive modern circuits.

Solution 1: Fictional Tracks
Solution 2: Historical Tracks

There is a boatload of circuits across the globe which no longer exist. Many of those come from somewhat of a golden era of motorsports, the 50s and 60s. From those times, many circuits still exist today, largely unchanged. So tracks from the time can be brought up to date in terms of safety standards and the like.

So why does every racing circuit officially featured in a game need to be the same current version of the Nürburgring, Spa-Francorchamps or Suzuka?

How Modders Could Benefit from Historic Venues

Though, some tracks should still be up for grabs for the modders. After all, with recent announcements on how the modding systems in Rennsport and GTR Revival are supposed to work, modders could earn a pretty penny modding their hometown historical circuit.

Monetary gain aside, wouldn't it just be nice to find out how it could've felt like driving that one circuit that doesn't exist anymore? That is a question I keep asking myself from time to time. And furthermore, what if that circuit wasn't abandoned but driven nowadays with modern cars?

All that beauty is possible thanks to the powers of digitalisation.

Back on Track: What Circuit Would You Like to See?

After taking that little detour to once again hope and bring some more people into modding for digitalisation, let's get back to the question at hand.

What Circuit would you like to see featured that hasn't been digitalised yet?

Personally, I would like to see every track digitalised. My dream is to have a complete database for all of the world's racing circuits. But if I had to pick some special ones, I would choose
  • Wachauring (the circuit I live closest to)
  • Autódromo de Benguela (Angolan circuit now converted to housing)
  • Evbuobanosa Motorsport Raceway (short-lived Nigerian circuit with races between 2017 and 2020, also I tried modding this one a while back, should continue on it)
And what about you? What circuits would you like to see digitalised? Maybe you can give some modder the inspiration for their next project, so let us know in the comments down below!

Targa Florio
Just subscribe on Abulzz' long time work on Patron for AC mod with continous improvements :inlove:
Or just enjoy Team TARGA's enormous GPL work and the excellent rF1- and GTR2 conversions, especially the GTR2 version of which is still improved is excellent for flat screen racing PnG cars in 4K at my 65" LG C2. For VR Abulzz' AC work is though still excellent racing in various 60ies mod packs, though still much work to be done.

As others mentioned, there's Montjuïc for AC—however it's likely a conversion from rF1. Looks and plays tolerably, but the AI could use some work.
Admit it's almost 10 years ago, but the GTR2-version felt excellent, racing both F1 cars of the time, but really suited for almost every kind of vehicles for good battles.
Speaking Iberian tracks, I've enjoyed the AC version of modern Jarama, but would really like to see a detailed and precise modelled classic version as well (yes way ago there's the rF1 version, but lacks more details, hence missing vintage immersion).

Citti Di Aria from GT4
I couldn't remember the circuit by name so I checked it out on the web...
and only then did I remember, great circuit for lesser cars. far too much for me at my age with quick motors, but the slower cars were balanced and not that much slower.
Below is one of my favourites

For AMS2: The 1960 Le Mans circuit with, please, the Ferrari Testa Rossa 250TR, the Aston Martin DBR1/300, the Corvette C1 4.6L V8 and the Porsche 356B Abarth GTL.
A dream.

1990s Snetterton, before the revamp. Totally missing for using things like VRC amazing Super Touring Mods

Do you perhaps mean Enna Pergusa which was in the GTR 2 base game?
If not the case and a mod, I remember a GTR2 version of Lake Louise (though far better in the AC mod version).

Or maybe the Aussie Lakeside Park, of which there's been an rF1 mod built for.

I would love to see Zhuhai Street circuit which was used for international GT racing in 1994 and 1995, when BPR was visiting China. I guess it is a really important track as it hosted the first international racing event in China. And taking a closer look on the BPR series we have to admit, that modern GT racing is based on the efforts of the BPR series.

The circuit was a very narrow street circuit. The layout is not very exicting being dominated by 90° turns, but the asphalt was very bumpy, which led to very tough races for the drivers.

Another one would be Changwon in South Korea. This circuit is a beautiful street circuit which was used for national F3 races in South Korea up to 2003. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korea_Super_Prix

I assume there are reasons why yall are ignoring the three existing mods for AC, but from videos I don't quite see them. Looks good to me.

AC versions are great, but GTR2 version was already in 2008 spot on AI-wise when my countryman won the one-off ETCC event at the splendid slopes.
