rFactor 2 | Ligier JS P217 Update Now Available

Studio 397 have today deployed a new update for the Ligier JS P217 LMP2 car available within the Endurance Bundle 2 DLC for rFactor 2.
  • Various fixes for wheel and window textures.
  • New liveries.
  • Fixes and updates for wet weather features.
Earlier today a brand-new update has been deployed to the LMP2 specification Ligier JS P217 within rFactor 2, as Studio 397 look to address some outstanding issues with the current car that have been brought up since it released as part of the Endurance Bundle 2 DLC back at the end of 2020.

The new build addresses a number of visual bugs within the car build, including an issue where players could not see the under shadow of other cars from cockpit view, an issue around false reflections on the car steering wheel and other rain related improvements, as can be seen in the update notes below.

Ligier JS P217 V1.17 Update Notes:
  • Corrected steering wheel glass rendering
  • Corrected bug where other cars under shadow is not visible in cockpit view
  • Corrected doors attaches visible cockpit view.
  • Updated rims shader to IBL
  • Adjusted VFX Wiper textures
  • Wiper sync position fix
  • Fixed missing droplet flow on body works and windscreen
  • Added O-Rouge team livery

Soooo only graphic updates on this one

I still think the best prototype car to go is the DPi :whistling:

Can anyone spot me the differences between the Ligier and Oreca ? In terms of racing performances and driving style ? :)

The default Oreca setup drags on the ground at high speeds. The Lige, does not. Not a difference in performance, but something is different between the two chassis.

So…? Much efficient on the straights ? That means better top speeds ? That would explain why Orecas get so quick all the time.

I have seen no one using the Ligier on Friday's endurance RD races only DPi and Oreca.

I tried a offline race yesterday with Ligier and Orecas. It started to rain. As expected, my car lose a lot of grip while the AI cars were racing as the track was totally dry by out performing me in 20 seconds per lap. The wet tarmac physics simply doesn't affect them. It's EXACLY the same issue that I experienced about 8 years ago (I suppose) when the game was out. As a non native English speaker I can't put out in words my disappointing in the time all those old game core bugs going to their decade anniversary.

not really the kind of update expected...
I wonder more and more how they make their priorities...and why it's always so slow.... don't tell me the size of the studio because Sector3 or reiza are so small!
with a little bad faith it is 5 years of graphic updates and dlc after a while it's ok...
If they can't code real changes like transmission, clutch, tyres, temperatures, sounds they should call in some real pro coders now with Motorsport game there's money in it, right..
It's the first time I've made an acerbic post about S397 but I see all the other sims moving forward except for rf2 even though it's the one where I have a very good feeling at the wheel and that I've been supporting since the beta...
but it's been weeks or months since I've had a taste for pitching and I'd rather be on ACC or R3E and AMS2...
sorry for the HS sorry for the rant, that doesn't help matters but I hope they are aware that the players are starting to let go (the last few weeks the competition system has been empty) this is a sign and not a good one...
wake up!!

Poor U RD if this so called update is worth creating the new article.
My reference of the term update is mostly related to Kunos or Reiza. 30 lines of text… But I still appreciate the effort of S397. Expecting this update does not brake previous development as usual.

This! All we asked for was a proper UI not this jumbled messy crap that is objectively worse than the UI of rFactor 1 a game nearly 2 decades old. A time-Attack, proper hotlap mode would not be difficult to implement as well. They relied too hard on the hardcore Sim-racers but it is too little too late, sims like ACC are already in the market with modern UI, comprehensive content and arguably equally high quality physics with their new 5 point tyre model.

All it takes it a little tweaking to take rFActor 2 to the modern era of simracing and they couldn't even do that.

for me UI is not really a problem I find it not too bad, but 5 years for that seriously...what a waste of time...
and yes not even a poor hotlap or time trial....this sadness...

What a lot of nonsense. The UI works for me - if it does not work for you, this does not automatically mean it's bad.
rf2 clearly has a development focus. ACC has one, too. Hotlapping for rf2 or LMP2s in LeMans for ACC. What do you think what we will see first?
Let's face it: The combination of physics, day/night, random weather and endurance content is unique in rf2. If that's not what you want, use something different.
I would be embarrassed if I would criticise ACC, Automobilista 2 or whatever else you have in mind for not offering exactly my combination of priorities.

Great, another fanboy. It isn't just me complaining about the lackluster UI. Many competitors on the market already have working hotlaps modes, AMS2 AMS1 AC. It is a quality of life feature that people actually want. rFactor tried to be a physics sandbox and look where it got them?

Keep defending your precious game then, wouldn't be long until Kunos comes up with their next AC title.

You know what? Save your breath, I've already moved on from RF2 as have many others. Your rabid fanboy defence of rFactor 2 isn't going to help the title either. Look around you, look at the other comments. RF2 was unique for a time but people have moved on. day night cycle and 24 hour racing can also be done in AMS2 just so you know and it is a niche feature that few really utilize.

Why Fanboy?
Let's try to stay with the topic.
Of course, there are other titles that have a day/night cycle.
Others have good physics.
Others have random weather (but the way it can be configured in rf2 is unique - at least from what I see in other titles)
Others have Endurance content.
Others have nice UIs (again, the rf2 UI works for me so maybe I'm doing something wrong here)

But others simple do not have this combination. Stating this FACT has NOTHING to do with being a "Fanboy".
I don't care if you or others have "moved on". It does not make the statement about the combination being unique FALSE.
If I'm WRONG, correct me.
If I'm not, don't be a child and admit that and don't call me "Fanboy" as a sign that you are running out of reasoning.

What prices cars have, in the end they will end up selling them to pieces, maybe they will charge us for fuel and tires in races, and why not for the mechanics for repairs, we are crazy or what,

Sorry for a bit of "off topic". Since dawn of multipbranch development model (beta branch and stable branch), has there been any release that went from beta to stable?

I've been "of out flow" for some time and S397 monthly news do not mention that any fixes from beta has been brought to stable branch.

Can someone help me? I've finally got it working again, but the graphics look so cartoony. I have everything maxed out and have capable pc, but it just looks bad.
