Reiza Studios have released their Automobilista 2 December Development Update. In it, you can read all about what is coming up for the racing sim. We'll briefly go over the main points here.

Updates on Upcoming DLC

6 packs of DLC have been announced to still release for the 2020-2022 season pass. Their release dates have been pushed as seen below.
  • Supercars Pt 1 - December 2022
  • Brazilian Racing Legends Pt 1 - December 2022
  • Historic Track Pack Pt 1 - December 2022
  • Nürburgring Historic 1971 - January 2023
  • Adrenaline Pack Pt1 - Q1 2023
  • 6th Premium Track - Q1 2023
  • Racin´ USA Bonus Pack - Q2 2023
If you have already purchased the 2020-2022 season pass, all these pieces of content will be available to you without any problem, despite the fact some of them will be released in 2023 only.

Supercars Pt1 DLC Overview

The Supercars Pt1 DLC will include the road-going versions of 3 modern supercars.
  • Corvette C8 Z06
  • McLaren Senna
  • Brabham BT62
Especially the Brabham is intriguing to me, even though those cars can presumably only competitively be driven in one-make races.

Brabham BT53 BMW I4 Turbo.jpg

Brazilian Racing Legends DLC Overview

Brazilian Racing Legends will include several cars in which Brazilian racers had some fortune.
  • Brabham BT49 Cosworth V8
  • Brabham BT52 BMW I4 Turbo
  • Lotus 98T Renault V6 Turbo
  • McLaren MP4/4 Honda V6 Turbo
  • McLaren MP4/5B Honda V10
  • McLaren MP4/6 Honda V12
This pack includes exclusively open-wheelers, so fans of those may rejoice!

Historic Track Pack Pt 1 DLC Overview

Some classic race tracks will be making their way to AMS2 this month still.
  • Cascais 1988
  • Jerez 1988
  • Bathurst 1983
We'll cover the other DLC once they get to release.

AMS 2 Welcomes Nissan into its Family

Furthermore, Nissan will be making its debut in AMS2 soon. The following cars will be available.
  • Nissan R89C Group C
  • Nissan R390 GT1
  • 2017 Nissan GT-R GT3
The inclusion of Nissan in AMS2 is one that was severely missed. However, this has now been reverted with license agreements finally coming around!

Updates on Further Game Developments

Not only the content received some attention in this December Update.
Here's a list of things Reiza Studios has been working on:
  • Adjust Pit Speed Limit - users will be able to adjust that based on their own preferences, between 60 and 100 km/h.
  • Motorsport Presets - Don't worry, this one got nothing to do with another company named Motorsport. This setting is to select race rule presets based on several IRL series.
  • Physics - The flood of classic content apparently requires some physics adjustments that need to be worked into AMS2's code.
  • Force Feedback - This also needs adjustment to work with the classic content.
  • New Cockpit Display Functionalities - Several inclusions like TC and ABS being visible on the dashboard.
  • AI Developments - New cars and tracks cannot come without adjustments to AI.
Now, there are also plans for other things to edit. Here's a list of the todo's on Reizas agenda:
  • Multiplayer - This will receive some work, apparently Reiza have found out much stuff about that and are confident they can make improvements in 2023.
  • Content - A new DLC has been teased, the "Adrenaline Pack DLC" will be worked on, featuring dirt oval and rallycross racing.
  • Some sort of Endurance Racing content. Will we get yet another sim racing competitor in the race for WEC/IMSA racing?
  • Modding Support - Or at least making modding and installing mods easier. Make sure to keep an eye out on the AMS2 Modding Database here on RD for current and future community generated content.
  • Career Mode is also apparently being worked on with a targeted 2023 release.
This concludes the comprehensive list of updates from this December blog post.

Of course, this is only a roundup. You can read the full thing in all its glory here.

What do you think of this massive list? Looking forward to what AMS2 has in stock? Let us know in the comments down below!

As a 'streetcar' the Brabham BT62 with all TC off is nicely drivable on or even over the limit.
The Senna isn't unfortunately....:-(......what disaster that one is, hate to say it!
Fortunately in other sims I 've got a few pretty well driving Sennas:)
Corvette C8 also nicely drivable with TC off.

BT52 which is a real icon is also pretty well drivable even at 100% power , it depends on your right foot:)
The rest, McLaren 4/5 and 4/6 nice sounds , memories from the 80s and 90s.
Renault Turbo 98T(?) , better drive that one in Assetto Corsa imho.

Thanks Reiza for the nice DLC.

Really a fan of the BT52 and it doesn't disappoint.
But the BT62 is the surprise of the day, very nice in almost all ways.

Cheers
Robin

To anyone reading this thread and trying to decide if this game is worth it, I would say a very resounding yes.
But...
There are some things you should know.
1. Reiza are still learning the engine and at this point the newer cars feel more polished. The new content in this release is awesome.
2. The game is playable online and as long as no one has horrid ping, you can have a lot of fun. For league racing, nope. Not yet at least. The multiplayer is getting rightfully bashed but Reiza say they are working on it. It may take another year or so but these guys don't give up.

3. Bugs. This game does have some but they don't happen all the time. When they do, it is annoying. (Pitstop bugs, etc.)

4. There are a lot of really cool things this game simulates that doesn't get enough credit. Sand buildup on the road, rubber chards actually bouncing off your windshield from the car in front, coolant leaks and a bunch of other cool things.

5. The GT3 and GTE cars I put on par with any sim now. Certain other cars are really top notch. Avoid ovals and CART cars in general, they are absolute rubbish right now. Instead enjoy the F Classics and the V12.

6. No developer shows the historics as much love as these dudes. It is bananas. Also I have never seen a developer give away as much content as these guys.

7. Right now I would not rate the ai highly. A bit frustrating at times. Good enough to run a championship but you have to always treat them like ai.

8. The ffb is now finally on par and even better than some sims. I would not recommend a custom file, but there are many if you need different details. The latest ffb update for me was awesome..

The game is a bargain and yes you will need to take an hour and a half just to set the game up and dial it in, but it is worth it. There are still handling issues and sometimes there are cars that handle unrealistically but they are being reduced every update. The amount of content in this game is ridiculous and if you take the time to dial in some of these cars you can really have a great time. Not gonna lie, it has been a frustrating journey because I would have expected the game to be the level it is at now when it was first released nearly 3 years ago, because even now it still needs a lot. But if you are buying it today, this is a fantastic entry point.

Worst case you don't like it you can get a refund.

If a simmer mentions the word ‘TC’ a lot, you know it is not the car that is the problem but the simmers right foot.

Haha. I have to react to this, with this video(me in my former 1M with TC totally off)

But seriously the Senna is rubbish with TC off....

-----> EDIT all new DLC is pretty well drivable, but without some heat in the tyres the Senna is way more rubbish than the rest.....
With some heat in the tyres the car is not that bad. I stand corrected:)

Cheers

another hotfix is out. It s all haywire, a few things are fixed, new bugs appear suddenly.
Seems a lit bit too much content for REIZA. Will agree another dude to divide the Updates in smaller parts. Hyper Senna is still undriveable

I've bought all the DLC so far, but these three packs would cost me AUD$50.95.
which is mental money.

Sorry it's a no from me.

many people moaned about saison pass prizes.
In the end, a bit waiting and buying it for -30% or -50% is the best deal

It’s really not though is it. It’s a few beers down the pub with a burger and chips. For the amount of work the devs put in and the amount of enjoyment you get from it, I can’t understand why people moan about the price.

Should have gone for SP... Could have had all the content for $76 in any of the steam sales.
Plus for AUD$50 you get 9x cars and 3x tracks... Just over $4 a piece... Any other sim charges you more on a per piece basis...

Just did some racing in the new update and had a great time with the Nissan R89C on the 80's circuits.

AMS2 has taken up all my sim time for a while now and for me it would be the perfect sim if it weren't for the AI. For me, at least in Group C, it seemed like the AI has regressed with the latest updates.

They are too slow in the corners and too fast on the straits. Also cars in front are slow while the ones behind are fast, and have no spatial awareness which result in a lot of punting.

Also 3/4 of all races I did had FCY because AI kept crashing.

Hope they tweak the AI some more in the future.

What Ai strength and aggression strength are you using ?

FCY is not worth it unless it's a long race.

You could say that about anything. $50 is too much for me.

AI at 95 and aggression at 25, which is low aggression now. I used to run AI and aggression at 100 in the past.

I like how they always try to overtake but would love to see some more spatial awareness from them.

Also they should go faster in the corners and slower on the straits.

i'd suggest always using Max aggression all times.

I find AI cars too slow with slow/med/high aggression.

Depending on the car and track combo your AI strength should vary.

It would be ideal if we could have variable AI settings per track/car.
