Automobilista 2 | 'Biggest Update Yet' Coming Soon

Automobilista 2 August 2022 Update 01.jpg
Reiza Studios has released their August development update for Automobilista 2 and shared some exciting plans for upcoming content and physics updates.

The newly released Automobilista 2 August, 2022 development update has brought some exciting news for players.

Originally scheduled for release at the end of July, the significant 1.4 game update is now scheduled for release at the end of August.

The 1.4 update seems to be intended as a baseline for physics in the title to allow Reiza to more easily publish future content, user interface features and gameplay modes.

Outside of the new baseline for AMS2, August will also see the sim receive some interesting new content, including the highly anticipated Racin´ USA Pt3 DLC. The third installment of this DLC will include a 2022 edition of Formula USA (Indycar), plus oval configurations of cars and tracks.

The Mercedes AMG GT4 will also be added to the title as free content, along with the Ginetta G55 GT3. The Ginetta is intended to be raced against the Ultima GTR in a new GT Open class, rather than against other GT3s in the title.

Reiza is also bringing significant improvements to Automobilista 2's mechanical damage modeling, which should bring enhanced realism thanks to the addition of common real-world issues like misfires and coolant leaks. Reiza notes that this can be disabled by players looking for a simpler racing experience.

You can read the full August, 2022 development update on Automobilista 2's Steam page. Are you looking forward to these updates? Is there new content you're specifically waiting to try? Let us know in the comments below.

I hope that they soon get the licenses from Audi and Ferrari for the GT3 and GT4, they said too long ago that they wanted to implement the safety car, and if they try to add the Montmeló Circuit with its new variants or one from the Persian Gulf, Bahrain or Abu Dhabi they will have the perfect game

Huh, the last remark freezed me shortly, i.e. about "or you can switch it off", like heard from a rather unsuccessful project that sought to cater to pre-pubescents gamepad arcaders. Luckily, we know Reiza is something completely different :inlove:

But why switch off such a nice feature at all?

Any improvement in this directions from the official sim releases is heartly welcomed here, myself taking full advantage of the unreliability factor for all kinds of vulnerable car parts, so nicely modeled by modders out there, for the last couple of decades, expecially for a vast variety of both single seaters and classic sports cars in rF1 and GTR2. The two parameters mentioned for new Reiza facilities is a nice start from official releases. Nice!

This feature probably won't be that popular among onliners who race for prizes other than honor and glory, but I've expressed the desire before that it could be fun (if I had the time) with a completely authentic online race that models the fragility of the cars and I have no problems at all taking the most vulnerable backmarker car with massive risk of breakdown within the first 10 laps if not extensive sim garage work and expert driver nursing for a grand prix distance. If I had the time, I'll jump into such an online event any time!! :inlove:

Especially when it's not just the game of chance (easy to mod, but too corny IMO), but where, via engineering jobs and especially the driver's capabilities behind the wheel, you are nevertheless able to nurse the car home to the finish line, through hours of sweat-inducing effort. I've witnessed quite alot of car mod series where you are left with a relaxed convincing feeling of authenticity here.

For me, it is a fundamentally essential part that adds to the total concepts of 'immersion' and 'authenticity'.

It adds some very nice extra layers, especially racing classic-, vintage and ancient race cars with authenticity on the vulnerable is convincingly modelled.
Rather than modern era flawless racing cars - no, I'm not the one using the term 'on rails', modern authenticity is there, but on the contrary to older race cars you are mostly able to race them at their limits for hours without consequenses (to put it a bit on point).

Regarding the full course yellow feature, at first hand I read it as the well known sim full course yellow feature, which is not exactly new (GTR2 had it from the gun and I think even +20yo sim F1C99-02 had similar) - but adding a virtual safetycar of which the sim driver will have the chance to identify entering the track sounds blistering to me!

And seems my 2020-2021 Season Pass is fully functional for several of the new goodies and contents still, without the need for additional $$$ DLC's.

Thanks alot Reiza - you continue being on the right track :inlove:

About oval tracks, I still find it unnatural to see a banking track on my monitor while I am perfectly flat on my rig. How about tilting the background instead? could it feels more natural?

If you set head movement to 0 the car/cockpit is fixed and the world tilts instead. It's somewhere in camera settings, and you might need to enable legacy mode in there.

Then bend your neck ;)

I'm looking forward to the update and the Merc GT4 but looking more forward to an AI and MP overhaul so I can truly enjoy this title more.

Content coming in this update.

Tracks:
Daytona oval
WWT Raceway
Autoclub

Cars:
Merc GT4
Ginetta GT3 to run in the GT open class with the GT Ultima
22 Reiza Indy version track and oval version.

Hopefully DLC USA PT. 4 will feature more ovals as 3 is kinda pointless for all the effort that went into it but time will tell.

Keep up the good work, Reiza!

Don’t forget that the amazing Jacarepagua oval from 90s CART is already in the game too :) Brasilia, Curitiba, Interlagos, Goiania and Monza also have ovals. So there’s a decent selection to play with at launch.

I do like where the game is at now, but I still wouldn't say I'm completely happy with the physics in AMS2 yet. However, the amount of improvement that small studio has brought to the game has been impressive. They've added far more licensed content than I ever expected. Continuing on with the USA DLCs I think is a great move and I can't wait to see what they do next.

I´d love to have Indy 500!

And the Lambos, Sebring and Lemans, and that's it!

Two requests.

1. Support for Motec Telemetry (peanut gallery don't not tell me about other telemetry applications)
2. Full replays during off line practice sessions. Valuable learning tools.

I would be fine if you got rid of VR to add these 2 components. No one cares about VR. :whistling:
