Automobilista 2 | 'Biggest Update Yet' Coming Soon

Automobilista 2 August 2022 Update 01.jpg
Reiza Studios has released their August development update for Automobilista 2 and shared some exciting plans for upcoming content and physics updates.

The newly released Automobilista 2 August, 2022 development update has brought some exciting news for players.

Originally scheduled for release at the end of July, the significant 1.4 game update is now scheduled for release at the end of August.

The 1.4 update seems to be intended as a baseline for physics in the title to allow Reiza to more easily publish future content, user interface features and gameplay modes.

Outside of the new baseline for AMS2, August will also see the sim receive some interesting new content, including the highly anticipated Racin´ USA Pt3 DLC. The third installment of this DLC will include a 2022 edition of Formula USA (Indycar), plus oval configurations of cars and tracks.

The Mercedes AMG GT4 will also be added to the title as free content, along with the Ginetta G55 GT3. The Ginetta is intended to be raced against the Ultima GTR in a new GT Open class, rather than against other GT3s in the title.

Reiza is also bringing significant improvements to Automobilista 2's mechanical damage modeling, which should bring enhanced realism thanks to the addition of common real-world issues like misfires and coolant leaks. Reiza notes that this can be disabled by players looking for a simpler racing experience.

You can read the full August, 2022 development update on Automobilista 2's Steam page. Are you looking forward to these updates? Is there new content you're specifically waiting to try? Let us know in the comments below.

I wonder if they will add a game save feature.
That is going to require quite a bit of re-doing. Madness Engine has its live track devised as a sort of blockchain: every status stems and is linked to the previous one.
That is why saving mid-session has never been there.
Changing this will take re-thinking some pillars of how the engine works

I've noticed of late that AMS2 threads seem to be 99% positive. That's almost unheard of. In fact I have to quite often double check to make sure I am still on RD. Reiza must be doing something right.

Really looking forward to trying out 1.4.

(Oh and I too look forward to Stadium trucks and some dirt races in the future)

It's because they are doing a great job with the sim and people appreciate that. I think they deserve credit for doing an amazing job especially when I remember the serious issues they inherited with the engine which took perseverance to overcome.

Much of the new content is free and Reiza has been honest and open with shortfalls they have (or are) addressing. No, it's not because negative comments are censored. As well you know. I am replying to one :D

totally agree.
We all know the ultimate test track for Barry Rowland from SimRacingGarage is Sebring.
We want see him driving on AMS2 instead of iRating :sneaky:
I have iRenting and its Sebring is TERRIBLE.. a pale shadow of what is the greatest track of all time. sad really for what iRenting charges..

I suspect a lot of sim devs are scared do Sebring as they need to hold the candle to RF2's Sebring.. and considering that that track is probably one the best tracks in all of sim racing, its a big ask.. not surprised the devs are scared off.

Could you elaborate on that one?

Haven't really been a fanboy of any sim (except maybe in 1996 when driving out GP2 first time), but pretty darn close now (though keen of R3E, rF2, ACC, iRacing, older Reiza stoff, and older sims as well), and now tried five different wheels including a couple of DD1's, and especially after Reiza added the FFB+ feature last year, I cannot relate it to the term 'unplayable'. Only harsh feedback ia back from prime 2021 when I acquired AMS2, but tons of things has happened since then.
To me it runs flawless and garage setups seems to have the right on track response.

What sim hardware are you using?
If it's a showstopper I'd strongly advice you to make an enquiry on Reiza Studios official user forum. My observation is that they both read and take actions on serious user enquiries related to fundamental issues with their sim engine.

Even though most of the content in this sim is not my cup of tea (like open wheelers and the now to come ovals), it is still the sim I play the most nowadays.

My personal wish would be a complete 92' DTM championship (all cars and historic tracks) in the sim though. I think it would boost sales in Europe a lot considering that series is legend here.

hey thanks
you reminded me the times when a friend of mine used to drive 1 hour to play GP2 ...memories!!

So far the playing time with this title is around 29h most of them in the menu. I will wait the new release to test it again.

I don't know but the big issue is visual, the image shakes and I could not fix it. Last test two days ago when I read about this update in Steam. I gave it a try

Formula G.2 Imola at Tosa to Piratella the image shakes, down to acque minerali and again shakes a lot! believe me is hurting my sight. FPS 140 average monitor 120hz no vertical sinc it is a kind of flickering.
I cannot play this game in this condition.

Is the car / world view shaking too much? Or is the framerate having issues (flickering)?

If it's the view shaking that is the problem, what Head Motion settings are you using?

all the settings in camera movement were set to 0 or NO/OFF, only Helmet and camera leaning were 75 set to 0 now.
