So here I go. I am working as an artist with a focus in case modding and prop building.
Last year all the events I normally attend were canceled so I had time to extend my hobbies a little and started Sim Racing around July. Although, I am German, I am currently living in the Michigan, US with my wife. Been in the States for the last 3 years now.

So this is me with one of my latest projects.

And one of the last events I could present it at the booth of one of my sponsors. Here it was CES in Vegas last year.

I am also heavily invested in 3D printing for prop making, and had the chance to go to some additive manufacturing conventions with my work. 3DExperiance World in Nashville in February last year was also the last one of those events. Really miss the conventions.

And yes, I built this armor to fit my body and I can wear it

It's a great pleasure to meet so different guys here.

The more I read and see all your interesting stories, the more average my own life feels. I'm not whining, more a compliment to the other guys here. So don't get me wrong - I love my ordinary life.

I'm jealous you're able to see those GT cars in person and see races. That would be a dream...never been to a race in person.

We life in Ann Arbor, cause my wife is a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University (Biochemistry is her field of research). Its a beautiful town but a total bubble which is nice in its own way. Also the state is very nice and has some really beautiful landscapes.

I was quite established in the German case modding community back in Germany.
Although my background is totally different. I studied Japanese Studies and East Asian Art History as Bachelor and did my Masters in Transcultural Studies. Lived one year in Japan (Mie, Tsu Prefecture) during my studies.

For casemodding I was working with hardware and liquid cooling manufactures like MSI, ASUS or Thermaltake at the beginning. I worked directly with the HQs in Taiwan, so I had the opportunity to visit Taiwan multiple times for "computex". I have been there 5 times already. Also some German manufactures sponsored some of my work.

After moving to the US it was a bit hard at the beginning to establish a new workshop again (Gosh I hate the imperial system ) cause all the marketing is done by different people and basically different companies in the US then in Asia/Europe. But due to the "close" proximity I was able to get in touch and work with US companies like Intel, and Nvidia more easily. The X-Wing for example was already featured by Nvidia and I have a couple of builts for Intel in the pipeline. Really helped to get into the US scene. But now after 3 years, I basically have partners and customers all over the world. Have a 3D printing sponsor from Korea and my next projects are sold to US, Spanish and Turkish customers. So I am basically working location independent now.

I missed this thread because I was a bit busy with other stuff, but I'd like to chime in as well.

I'm Enzo, I recently turned 23 and I'm @HF2000's son.

I'm in my second year of studying Software Engineering at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. Alongside my studies, I work parttime (12-20 hours per week) at Heusinkveld Engineering. I was originally hired to handle customer support, but recently, more and more of my time has been shifting towards product development.

In my spare time, I play all sorts of videogames, but mostly aimed towards first person shooters and simulation and I play bass guitar. I of course spend a good amount of time simracing too, here's a picture of my rig in it's current state:

I don't have any track experience in a car, but I try to do as much (rental) kart races as my bankaccount allows. I've recorded a bunch of it with my helmet cam, which you can find here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC59-sdW0nopu2602jYdoSDQ

Better late than never. I'm a 35 year old guy from Vienna who startet sim-racing when I joined RD. Little bit over a year ago. Started with an old Logitech DFGT and moved on to the T300 with CSL Elite LC pedals. Recently I also got a VR headset.

I was working for almost 8 years as police offiver in Vienna, 2 years as traffic patrol on a motorcycle. But 5 years ago I quit and started my studies. Currently working mostly from home I'm doing development stuff in the finance sector (Data Warehouse stuff)

I don't own a car but I'm currently at bike number 3, a BMW 1200GS. No racing history whatsoever, but I'm really looking forward to the next time I'll be on a kart track to see if my theoretical sim-racing knowledge will help me

That was always one of the most impressive things I've encountered in sim-racing. Lot's of people from your generation don't even know how to turn on a PC (no offense) and you are here racing with people who grew up with this PC stuff and matching their pace in such a mentally demanding game. Hats off

It definetly will help you. You've got a much better idea of what's going on due to sim racing.

I’m with you Ernie. Eyes of an eagle. Used my fist PC in 1984 I think. The VR stuff doesn’t work for me
