Marco Massarutto, Kunos Simulazioni Licencing Manager and somewhat outspoken unofficial Kunos spokesperson, has responded via his Facebook account to the rather strong criticism from some members of the community following the free Porsche content announcement several days ago.

With feelings running high amongst the community, and many people voicing negative feelings regarding the inclusion of SUV's from the prominent German manufacturer, Massarutto has taken to his personal Facebook profile to respond directly to those vocal critics. As is the usual Massarutto style, no punches have been pulled in the latest statement!

The full Marco Massarutto Facebook statement can be read below:

"Imagine you get into a mall to buy a pair of Lee jeans, and when you go for the check out, the guy at desk tells you "I'm glad to tell you that, since you have purchased this product, you will get this t-shirt for free, offered by Lee".

What do you will answer? Some options:

- I didn't ask for it, just give me my jeans...
- I don't like this t-shirt, I'm not going to wear it
- What are you trying to do? To fill my closet with useless stuff?!
- I've a t-shirt already, I don't need this so-called gift
- Let's do this: give me the jeans for free and keep the t-shirt for you
- If I was interested to a t-shirt, I would have purchased it
- What a waste of time and money, tell Lee to give me a 100$ jacket for free instead
- I'm here for the jeans and you give me a free t-shirt? Shame on you
- So, now Lee gives stuff for free to let me have a taste of it? Shame on them

Sounds weird? Not to some simracers. Sad, but true.

So, about Porsche: few people complain because Assetto Corsa will release - for free, and even if you just own the game but you don't purchase any Porsche DLC - the new Panamera, Cayenne and Macan. Saying the things you can read above. As part of our agreement with Porsche, the Brand asked us to reproduce, for THEIR simulators, ALSO the models included in their current production. For THEIR purposes. Once we worked for months to reproduce those models with the maximum accuracy for Porsche simulators, we believed it would have been a shame do not allow the AC community to enjoy those cars as well. Without charging them. And that's it. Also because we take in consideration that the AC community is so wide today that different people like different cars, something that some blind gamers still don't understand, or accept. On the other side, this kind of agreement allows us to reproduce and make available for Assetto Corsa cars like the one you see in the picture.

So, today lot of people tell me that they want so badly in Assetto Corsa the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde . If to get it in the game we would be asked to include also the next Stelvio SUV as free bonus content, would you complain for it? If yes, probably you would need to turn off your PC or console, open the door, leave the house, close your eyes and take a breath; and relax. Because it looks to me that you are not able anymore to enjoy what is supposed to be your passion. BTW, driving the new PanameraTurbo at the Nordschleife in 7'.39" is a blast, and it is not for everyone. Stay tuned. And take it easy, enjoy your life, you live once"

OFF Topic: This thread and many many others like it simply shed a light on some of the fallacies in the English language such as "common sense" ie. how it is/isn't applied and more over how it's not common at all.

On Topic: Bonus Free Content, SUVS, sedans, w/e. The core of the game must not change, I can race road cars if I want to but I dont. I drive them for fun and due to the physics that AC exhibits which makes driving them worthwhile, I would not waste my time with other platforms where I can do this with road cars because this imo is the best.

All the salty ppl over a Panamera/Cayenne etc. because YOUR SIM (language choice is .... laughable, the correct phrase: a product you bought and voted on with your dollars as many others did as well, you simply have license to use a product as directed by the owner) now has suvs and sedans. What do you race then? Do you mod? Contribute to the game? and if you do how does content that you dont have to touch/drive impact your chosen activity with YOUR SIM?

Also 935 Moby Dick at Spa, tearing up here, all of the boost, all of the lag, all of the power. '98 GT1 LeMans winner and World Record Car of choice for NFS Porsche Unleashed ffffff..... all the young whippersnappers will have their holy trinity to test about. Porsche, the enthusiasts car fml can't understand whats happening in these treads, it's ok I'll muffle all your tears over maximum potatoes twin turbo power delivery hanging on for dear life at Parabolica (with training wheels now for those that need run off area fml) on my way to yet another WR.

SUV could be fun.
Ok, perhaps not on Kunos vanila tracks but there's so many amazing rally tracks out there, I strongly advise to first try this combo and then come here. I, for example, prefer open wheels but I drove them on clasic tracks not these ofc but when I feel the urge to go a little bit :geek:...dirty, it's nice to have something completely different.
It's almost like we have two different games into one. :) (and, prove me wrong, but AC is as realistic on dirt as DiRT itself. if not better:giggle:) So, I see absolutely no reason to moan about it then.
Here, I even hand pick some of the best for those lazy ones.
In case you don't have them already ofc.
Unlike me. :D

...Imo, we got to all this criticism because of Kunos fault, and all this it could have been avoided, if the Marketing / PR guys had done a good job.
The FB post is just more bad PR, fueling all this more...
Sadly, I have to agree with you up to some extent...

And blame Colin Chapman for that:p:D
Capitalism sucks anyway!
:whistling:
Cause Lostus was the very one who got commercial sticker on them, right ?

Fully in agreement with Marco !!! While I love driving sports cars to the edge it is a a special thrill to take street cars I see everyday around me and try them out on the track. It is another feeling, another (or complementary) set of skills to drive around a car that does not have "optimal" driving characteristics. Corners are more difficult, body roll is there to some extent, acceleration and braking have to be managed differently, etc etc.

This chance of driving these cars (M4, Panamera) on a real track someday is much higher for me that most of the extreme dream cars found in racing games. I am looking forward to compare Assetto to the real thing someday.

You know the minds of every racer in the world? That's quite a gift you have.
Either way, if you don't like the SUV's,
DON"T<snip> DRIVE THEM ;-)
It's really that simple.
it would be kind you all read "between" my lines of my former reply. These SUVs and the A1 are packed as a present and we have to say "thank you", if not we're annoying Lord Kunos the official contributor. But think twice, a present could be a way forcing you to say "thx" although you don't like it. The aim by the manufactors Porsche, Audi, Maserati a.s.o. is achieved: 'Productplacement' packed as a present.

No one is forced to say "Thank You" or not,There's always the option of saying nothing at all ;).There is a saying "If you can't say anything nice,Say nothing at all" :cautious:
There's also no need for people to be so negative and sometimes outright rude and abusive and aim it personally at Kunos Staff or people who do not share their view,at the end of the day they are only doing their job.
Whatever the reason for this release it's free and it's Porsche :).

Phil, that's easy thinking. Go into deeeeep thoughts. Maybe someone will guide and influence you (not Kunos, he's a idealist and a good boy). Manipulate us isn't a good way.

And here's a little hint for all those #suvhaters:
if you really don't like to have "regular road cars" in your "strictly racing game", they go on your nerves or you simply want :rolleyes:to save some space, then (spare us further moaning) can safely delete them ! Game won't crash, at all. Tested, approved, many times. :)

What the hell are you on about?

Anyway, the amount of salt on this topic is amazing. I thought most sim racers were adults, you wouldn't know it by this thread. This is starting to resemble a forum for a Battlefield game, except those kids mostly complain about DLC that isn't fkn free.

The grand scheme of things this aint a big deal, but because of Kunos awesome PR here we all are talking about it, but to the ppl filling up pages and pages of "oh sim racers are spoiled and stupid" comments,I hope they give nothing but absolute praise to all mods regardless if it interests them or not,who genuinely give stuff for "free" not adverts wrapped up as "free Gifts",ill be on standby with my hypocrisy stick when that inevitably happens.

I would of preferred they start giving back one of the many FREE mods they've snatched up.

??? How do I know you are not trying influence or manipulate me ??? ;):D.

I've stated my opinion I don't want to drag this off topic or keep going round in circles so....

..Unless there is a major worldwide conspiracy I need to know about, concocted by Porsche and Kunos to get us all driving Porsche SUV's,I'm outta here.
