We talk to Niels Heusinkveld and try out the soon to be released Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint.

Catching up with Niels Heusinkveld at the recent very busy Sim Racing Expo over in Germany, we took the opportunity to quiz the man behind Heusinkveld Engineering about his newly announced Sim Pedals Sprint set of high end sim racing pedals. With Niels in a buoyant mood following what appeared to be a largely very positive reception to the new hardware, we took the opportunity to question him about the features and improvements of the new gear, learning plenty about how some dramatic software features and production improvements have moved the product range on from the already very impressive offerings of HE Engineering.

Not content with merely taking Niels at his word, we also couldn't quite resist the chance to get strapped into the cockpit and have a go ourselves, recording a short but sweet talk and drive segment as we give our first impressions based on the limited time we had with these brand new set of pedals.

Frankly, I was very impressed, although it is exceptionally hard to gather any serious kind of feel with something like a high end set of pedals with such a short period of time behind the wheel... not helped any by a crowd of people watching on, and a camera and microphone in my face!

However, with that said I'm going to be lucky enough to take receipt of a review set of these pedals in the very near future, so please consider this more of a taster video, with a much more in depth and detailed look at the HE Sim Pedals Sprint set to appear on our various social media channels in the near future. So stay tuned, get subscribed and watch out for some new footage in the (hopefully) coming weeks...

Removing the plug and then reinserting it making sure to push it all the way in.
Oh alright, sadly I have already done that, I moved the cable plug in all direction making sure that maybe there was some loose connection, but still no input from the throttle. Guess I have to rely on the Heusinkveld support now. Thanks for the answer.

Don't worry, Heusinkveld support is excellent. Frequently even on this very thread.

Yea, I have only read good things about the Heusinkveld support, so I have no worries about this problem not getting solved.
Have you tried plugging it into the port on the other side (where the clutch normally sits) ? This helps determine if the controller is broken, or if the pedal is broken.

It seems like the throttle pedal is the issue, tried it on the left side port (clutch port) and it didn't show an input, the clutch pedal on the other hand works on both the left and right port.

Just a heads up but these are in stock on Heusinkveld Engineering website directly. Just ordered a 3 pedal set without the plate. Going to try to DIY something for resting my heels using some spare aluminum profile I have lying around. Hopefully it's not too painful without it.

Hi all, I had a quick question. I'm looking at ordering Sprints and the baseplate direct from Heusinkveld shipped to the US. Did anyone have to pay customs duties? If yes, since rates vary by item, could you tell me how much you paid in customs? Thanks!

Did anybody ever have the issue that all of the sudden all three pedals would not accept any inputs anymore, with the throttle pedal floored periodically for a couple of seconds? Only way to get them back to working properly is to unplug and replug them.

It only happened twice within a couple of weeks so far, so before contacting support, i wanted to see if this is a know problem with a known fix. I also think the pedals are most likely not faulty.

I use a amazon basic usb extension cable to a usb 2.0 port, the same model that i use for my simucube 2 pro and x-box pad (my cheap buttonbox for now :D ), and i will try without the extension on the following weekend.

@Enzo Fazzi
Sorry the off topic but you know the HE handbrake,
Is there any optional rubbers than can be placed there to make the throw less harsh,
It’s bolted down amazing and really looks the part but for me it’s sooo strong to pull it’s lifting my back out of my bucket seat :D

The handbrake feels smooth to me. What do you mean by harsh?

Are you looking for something mushy ?
It feels really nice but feels for me just a tad too strong maybe 20% roughly to be comfortable driving with it I only just set it up on there website shown green and white rubbers I bought it brand new unused off a guy here on RD last month with the shifter,
but pulling the handbrake its lifting me off my seat literally I pull it and im coming off the seat,
maybe your not supposed to pull it fully in no ? like 100%
