I used to race this all the time and I know a few lads who would still be up for a race, could easily host a race as well.

Why not try and arrange something say early December? then that way it gives everyone a chance to get set up and practice :)

I tried the new (to me, at least) F2 mod last night as well.

It's absolutely superb, and may even usurp the 65's as my favourites to drive.

I've now got some mods up and running... and slowly getting to know my way around the system.. there were a few opppps moments but I got there in the end..

Some of the mods are a bit quick for me at the moment and its very hard work to keep the cars on track, but its one heck of a challenge ... I've gone back to the original cars and they are just so much fun...:)

I can see many hours of fun with this sim.. yep it old and it shows but I don't care. But the feel is better than some of the newer sims....Bring it on ..

i've even had my dad having a blast..its great watching his face as he driving round:speechless:

So... Got around to install this again. Last time I drove was back in June 2008. And I got into it surprisingly fast. Got some PB's today, now the quest for a lower GPLRank starts, and to get a MonsterRank!

Hehe. I've still got my original copy of this game. Might have to take it for another spin. I always liked the "feel" of the cars but I found it abit to difficult at the time to keep my car on the track!

What is the status of GPL these days - is the community still active around GPL (with online racing)?

I'd say most of it runs through SRMZ.net (Sim Racing Mirror Zone), and there is still strong activity from a faithful core of players. It's been 3ish years since I tried online but I had issues with my setup so I couldn't connect.

Thanks Gui, I will have a look (that 1955 mod and the Can Am mod really interest me + I have to try the Targa Florio track in its original mod version before the good people of Sim Traxx finalize the rebirth of the track on Assetto Corsa).

A must have patch for Grand Prix Legends GPL is the graphics driver package for running 3dfx glide games on current hardware via a 3dfx Voodoo Glide wrapper available at Zeus Software http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide which I'm currently using with great success on a Windows 10 PC running a Nvidia Graphics Card :ninja::)

You don`t need the driver package that Lynn Deman mentions above to run GPL!
I do NOT recommend to install it!

You only need the latest version of the GPLPS GPL Installer Beta 1.08:

It got fixed not long after I posted here, someone probably read my post. I think they went 2 months or so without any new members before they realized.

When no one contacts an admin how shall he know that it is broken? ;)

Anyway, I know of Ginetto (one of the SRMZ admins) that it has got fixed long time ago and is still fully working.
When you register at SRMZ http://srmz.net/ you will get validated manually by and admin. This may take one or two days.

    :)
