I've watched that clip over and over and it doesn't appear he actually hit anything. Just car parts started exploding from thin air and Senna gets flipped.

That's just the way collisions are modelled in the game. I can assure you that Senna whacked Heidfeld VERY hard before being hit again by Florsch

PUBLIC ENEMY ON #1

Nick Heidfeld put his Hightech on Pole as he led his team mate for a front row lockout. Heidfeld took the lead of the championship with the first point for pole. Hoy and Button were on the second row ahead of Hamilton and Prost, Vettel and Bellof and the Polestars. The main shock of the session was the defending champions, the NLE Motorsport cars ended up 26th and 28th.
