Assetto Corsa Competizione fans rejoice - lots and lots of exciting new announcements have been made about the simulation.

So, where to start? Well first up, this summer we are going to be in receipt of no less than 10 new car models for the simulation, with the arrival of the much hoped for GT4 paid DLC. Yes, GT4 cars are coming to Assetto Corsa Competizione! The new pack is expected to drop this summer for PC, with console versions receiving access to the DLC in fall.

In other news from the studio, the 'British Pack' DLC has been confirmed for a release this winter on both console and PC. Adding three new circuits that make up the full British GT calendar (Oulton Park, Snetterton and Donington Park according to the 2020 British GT Calendar). Little is known about the release at this stage, so no news on liveries / cars from the British GT Series, but stay tuned for more info as and when it becomes available..

Finally, Kunos Simulazioni and 505 Games have confirmed that Assetto Corsa Competizione will be releasing on both Xbox One and PS4 as early as June 23rd 2020 - bringing this outstanding simulation to console gamers for the first time.

Hi everyone! Today is a super exciting day for the Assetto Corsa Competizione team as we bring the news we know so many of you have been waiting for!

KUNOS Simulazioni and 505 Games are thrilled to announce that Assetto Corsa Competizione is heading to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

ACC will be available both digitally and at physical retail on June 23rd, 2020. What’s more, players who pre-order the console edition of ACC will also gain access to the Intercontinental GT Pack DLC on release day, which expands the Assetto Corsa Competizione experience to include the official Intercontinental GT Challenge. The Intercontinental GT Pack DLC is scheduled to launch later this summer.

The Intercontinental GT Pack DLC for Assetto Corsa Competizione introduces four iconic international circuits from four different continents – Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit (South Africa), Suzuka Circuit (Japan), Weathertech®️ Raceway Laguna Seca (United States) and Mount Panorama Circuit (New South Wales Australia). Players owning these tracks will extend the GT Series to the Intercontinental GT Challenge by Pirelli, providing a challenging driving experience using an exclusive layout finely reproduced with Laserscan®️ technology, allowing for extreme track reproduction precision and detail. The Intercontinental GT Pack DLC also adds more than 45 new car liveries, 30 new teams and 50 new drivers along with all-new game modes from the real-life Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli.

Assetto Corsa Competizione allows players to experience the real atmosphere of the GT3 championship, competing against official drivers, teams, cars and circuits reproduced in-game with the highest level of accuracy ever achieved. Sprint, Endurance and Spa 24 Hours races come to life with an incredible level of realism, in both single and multiplayer modes.

The launch of Assetto Corsa Competizione on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is part of a full plan that will cover both PC and console instalments of the game:

  • This April, the free Assetto Corsa Competizione v1.4 update for PC Steam will introduce new features – including the car showroom, new driver/car personalization choices and additional options for multiplayer servers – and lots of improvements of the game features, UI and algorithms.
  • The GT4 Pack paid DLC, adding +10 new GT4 cars, will be available this summer on PC Steam, and this fall on consoles.
  • The British Pack paid DLC, offering 3 new iconic circuits that complete the 7-race calendar of the British GT Championship, will be available this winter for both PC Steam and consoles.

Stay tuned for more info! Exciting times ahead.

I expected new tracks and cars, but did not expect the console release so soon. That's quite cool. Differently from AC, ACC is not moddable so we will see identical games for PC and consoles. This should be quite interesting.

GT4 and British Pack - great news, Kunos really pulled ACC out of the bag with the latest improvements in car handling and FFB especially in the wet. On PC ACC is a 8/10 game for me, great driving experience but the career is poor and you have to make most of the fun for yourself. As PC developers with quick hotfixes on Steam they are one of the best. That is where my praise ends.

Please...oh dear no...not a console release for this console generation. AC launched at single-digit framerates and it took them a year to get it anywhere near playable, ACC on UE on an OG Xbox what are they thinking? There are several reasons why this could be a disaster on the consoles:

- Console players remember how much of a mess the AC launch was and how painfully slow updates were. There is a significant negative feeling toward them as a result. The version of AC they released at full price was little more than some 2014 PC Early Access code, it really was that bad.

- ACC will have to work on an OG XBOX One and basic PS4, they couldn't get AC to run well on these consoles, I'll be amazed if ACC will run on them at all.

- The multiplayer system in AC is several generations behind the console games. It took Kunos months to work out how to give console players private lobbies, even then it was just a text password. The lag on joining online sessions was impossible to deal with - and I see PC players complain about this in ACC even today. On Xbox players dropping out mid-race, losing FFB and all manner of in-game problems were routine in MP. They made PCARS2 MP look good and it wasn't.

- The limited number of control inputs on Gamepads and the most popular console wheels. Kunos were unable to give console players full access to controls such as KERS and DRS in AC. I remember a famous post by 'the lord' where he said they didn't need them! ACC has 3 modes of TC let alone all the other in-game controls, they'll never fit that on a gamepad.

- ACC career mode was acceptable in the early '90s, console players will be expecting something far more complete and playable.

- Promises of AC parity with PC content when it took over a year for the base games to even approach the inclusion of the same content.

- Patches that didn't work, Kunos were too tight to buy a consumer console. Kunos became famous for launching patches that they had only ever tested on a dev kit. When a friend on mine reported the latest update (9 months in) didn't work he was simply banned from the Kunos forums for 'trouble-making'. It took getting Microsoft involved to get Kunos to believe the game no longer worked. He was eventually readmitted to the Kunos forum too and they fixed it about 3 weeks later...

- Finally, attitude towards console players has to be mentioned. There was a truly appalling attitude displayed by Kunos toward console players. Problems had to be reported to 505 games - who had no power to do anything with the reports. They kept the console players in separate forums - partly because the difference in the games was so marked. The real shocker with all this is that they made more money from the shoddy console release than the PC game.

Bottom line, AC on the consoles was a cash cow, 'the lord' admitted he had almost nothing to with it and it was left to a couple of devs with little console experience and it showed.

I'll predict this:

- The release date will be delayed at least 6 months.
- There won't be a single piece of Xbox One or PS4 gameplay footage available to view before the release date.
- Significantly lower sales this time, they lucked in on almost universal acclaim for AC on PC and avoided letting anyone see or play the console version of the game before launch. I don't think that will play out this time at all.

I hope they prove me wrong but I won't be holding my breath.

I hope we get multiclass races. Now is the time to finally improve multiplayer and get into some serious "competizione".

I still have hope that we get some tracks outside SRO range, like Interlagos, you never know.

I think yes, it would make sense with the multiclass.

I'm so happy hearing these great news:
- GT4!!!!!
- English GT with nice tracks (oulton is my favourite)

Very nice Kunos, thanks a lot for this great simulator.

Who ? when ? where ?
I work for a great team (tech one), and no, sro is not into this...(maybe you're talking about the organisation of some "national championship", including openwheels (like F4 in France), but it's not an SRO'managing... just a "global'promotion"
@++

It could be covered with contracts, unlike other open wheel series, that is why I mentioned them, although I doubt they will be popular enough.
