rFactor 2 Goes Proper Endurance with Vanwall Vandervell LMH Reveal

Fitting to the previous announcement of Bahrain coming to rFactor 2 in their Q4 content drop, the first LMH is coming to the racing sim. This Vanwall Vandervell LMH marks the beginning of the new WEC era in sim racing.

Perfectly fitting with 2 previous announcements, the new Hypercar era is lighting up the sim racing scene.

First, rFactor 2 announced Bahrain for presumed WEC usage, then iRacing announced the BMW LMDh to be included and now rFactor tops the Q4 announcement with a beautiful first look at the first LMH car to be added.

The Vanwall Vandervell LMH for the sim was created by Vanwall themselves, using their data and therefore this DLC car aims to give as realistic an onlook as rFactor 2 allows.

This announcement seems to pave the way for Motorsport Games' rFactor 2 to take on the sim route of their acquired licenses. While the rest of the studio may still work on dedicated games for the BTCC or WEC licenses, Studio 397 goes the hardcore sim racing route.

Now what remains to be seen is when these content licenses will be fulfilled by. Judging by the current rate of DLC release, the full BTCC grid could be completed rather quickly, while a full WEC grid would take quite some more.

With Toyota, Glickenhaus, Peugeot, Ferrari and a possible Isotta Fraschini still looming for the LMH category, LMDh still needs to be completely populated. With Porsche and Cadillac aiming to run in the 2023 WEC season too, that makes a possible 7 cars that would need to be included still to feature a full WEC 2023 grid.

Furthermore, it was announced that the following 2 days would feature both a circuit as well as a feature announcement, so stay tuned for that.

What do you think of this reveal? Looking forward to endurance events with an LMH? Let us know in the comments down below!

it's good, rF2 is going strong at the moment!
we need coherent content like the BTCC which will soon be fully done, I hope the Le Mans Serie will also be fully in play! (car and track!)

Always look forward to any new Paid DLC, ( while lifting up mattress checking to see savings:D).... this and other DLC will be a purchase for me personally for sure.

...and while I do not mind paying top dollar for any Official DLC content, what I would like to expect is to keep that Paid Official content up to spec / fixed and running sweetly within that Sim, within reason, 'Austin Mini Cooper S Mk1'. comes to mind;).

Thoroughly enjoying rF2 at the moment, keep up the great work.:)

It's great that rFactor 2 will see more cars from the FIA WEC series. However, I am very much looking forward to a fully dedicated FIA WEC game with Le Mans. Something like that is sorely lacking. GTR2 has had FIA GT, Assetto Corsa Competizione has GT World Challenge Europe and Intercontinental GT, FIA WEC has never been released as a licensed full-fledged simulator ... They should announce something soon as Le Mans's 100th anniversary is fast approaching. I dream of playing the FIA WEC with the full grid of 2023 ....

Good news. But I take it this is content that was originally earmarked for the previously announced WEC standalone game, but is now being dripped into rF2 instead, a la BTCC?

I'm 99,9% sure it will be paid (and expensive) content.

Can't expect pricing to be lineball with competing studios when they only sell a fraction of others. If more buy prices will drop, economics 101. As long as people continually drag it down for no better reason then they can prices won't change.

All the DLC combined IS expensive. Buying 30 to 35 Dollars of content every three months? Not that much.

Unbelievable, we have not seen any prices yet for the Q4 2022 content drop and some people are complaining about prices again already. And you can always wait for a Steam Sale. Last week I paid €20 for 5 karts and 10 karting tracks for example.

Back ON TOPIC… I have been hoping for official hypercars for quite a while and there it is! Hopefully a start of more hypercars to come, so we can properly simulate next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. Keep it coming Studio 397!
But no hybrid yet. The VW is naturally aspirated V8. (similar to the Glickenhaus)

Then it is not expensive if you think that AC mods cost the same and iRacing content is basically x3
I never include iRacing into that kind of discussion because (to me) it's a completely different type of sim, when it comes to its business model. And yes, one of the reasons I don't subscribe to iRacing is the insane prices of their content.

As for price comparisons, I've noticed that prices have gone up a bit for ACC DLCs. Their American track pack was on the pricey side. AMS2 prices are still reasonable and they provide a lot of free content. rFactor2 DLCs are a bit too expensive, in my opinion, but maybe I think that because I'm not a big fan of rFactor2 as a sim.

Are you seriously suggesting that RF2 DLC's are not expensive. I don't know what world you are in!?
The packs for each quarter this year were quite fair in terms of pricing, especialy if the quality is that good. Something you need to keep in mind compared to other sims is that people aren't forced to buy DLC to expand their game. It's basicly the last moddable sim in development out there so considering that I don't have to pay for additional skins, tracks or cars as in other products the whole deal is pretty similar to the competition. And rF2 has a pretty small base price. At the end it all evens out with all the other stuff that you get access to.

Wouldnt worry yourself with them tbh. I think rFactor 2 content is well priced considering the quality of it lately

I almost feel bad for modders these days.
Feels like over half of the content that rF2 comes with is content that modders have provided for free lately.
I guess Fuji will come within the next year :p

EDIT: To clarify, there's no modded Vanwall :)
modders should rather focus on historical content than developing content that motorsport games/studio397 has officially licensed and/or may offer! there is so much to offer ...

Maybe my view is skewed, but I find quibbling about a DLC that may cost even $25.00 kinda..............................dumb.

You pay$300-400.00 for the cheapest wheel/brake combo. A decent PC to run it is going to cost you $800-1300.00. A decent monitor even 1080, add another $250.00. So you are out 2k before you buy one title. Now if you take the initial 2k outlay and divide it into even $100.00 worth of software, the software is .05% of your total spend.

Developers need to eat like everyone else. This free expectation needs to stop. I just bought a set of Heusinkveld Ultimate + pedals. I don't think the software is what is sucking me dry.

J'ai désinstallé rF2 il y a un mois. Je n'aime pas le modèle d'affaires qu'il est devenu. Le DLC le plus cher de l'histoire du simracing. Je ne reviendrai pas.
For you project car forza gran turismo:):):):):):)

why would they give you a fully fledged wec or btcc game when they can drip feed you the same stuff for 150 bucks instead of a full game for 50?

Yes, yes and yes.

There was a great classic Formula 2 mod for rFactor 1, it was the F2 cars of 1976-79. I raced these quite a lot back then. I'd love to see content like that in a sim. That and classic IMSA, Can-Am cars, formula Atlantic, there are so many great series that are ignored.

Tomorrow's Q4 reveal is a "Feature" apparently. The rF2 discord thinks it would be the hybrid system. Not confirmed, however, gotta wait until tomorrow.
That would be REALLY cool. And would make perfect sense to have hybrid systems in the game before the new WEC seasons starts.
