Gran Turismo 7 Is Here - What Are Your Impressions?

Reviewers are saying it's "fun" which doesn't really give much away. Difficult to get a truly honest review. How are the physics and FFB? How much do they differ from the last one (which wasn't great IMHO) and how do they compare with other options AC, ACC AMS2 etc..

My first impressions are that it takes a looooooooooong time to install... I mean like a REALLY long time.

I'm glad they finally decided to finish developing GT Sport. Good for PD.

I'm sorry, but when a game runs with a statement "real driving simulator" I am going to be picky.

Once again, lots of cars and tracks are fictional. Great, we got Daytona and Interlagos, why do need fantasy tracks in Japan, France, Italy or US when there are tens of options?

And why we are still putting Vision cars into real racing categories? At the start, it was a fantastic idea. Let the imagination go wild and see what OEMs can create. But now it's just a way to create more overpowered cars, that would dominate certain daily races.

Also, how on Earth a game from 2022 cannot have basically any cars from 2019+? I'm not talking just about racing cars, but even street cars are old. Really, you could get new logo from Peugeot, but not new 208?!

With such deep ties to Japanese manufacturers, wasn't it really possible to get newer Super GT cars?

And "crème de la crème" - there is no way in hell you could race or even do time attack in a basic street car with basic seatbelts. Sorry, I'm not making the rules. If this is "real driving simulator", then let's make things real.

Otherwise, it's a great title. Great looking with the best progression system in the category (I wanted to call it simulator, but it would like spitting on iRacing or ACC). I do hope FIA won't give them blessing as it was in GT Sport.

my thoughts are that I don't understand why my preorder through amazon is suppose to deliver on March 17 , when the game released now ?

I'm actually tempted to buy this through the online store instead of having hard copy
I bought the 25 anniversary edition, so that I get both PS4 and PS5 version of the game

There are some new and even unreleased cars in there like the 2023 Nissan Z.

Fantastic! And Prius is still from 2009.

It's a joke that (just like Forza) you can have 5% of new cars with rest slightly remodeled assets and everyone screams in joy.

I'm sure it is still a very fine entry to the sim racing world with gorgeous graphics and engaging gameplay. I'm just too old for it. After my first introduction to the "ISI" games, there is no going back. Fortunately I can still enjoy playing a "highly arcade" racing games like Circuit Superstars and Art of Rally

Car collect-a-thon for the masses. Apparently, this is what people want and crave for, where the core game loop revolves around buying cars and parts with in-game currency you slowly earn with racing...
Good guy Kaz understood that and really wants your money, as PD just enabled purchase of in-game currency with real money (so you can get that x millions car a bit faster), just after reviews are out:

I see where you're coming from, but I wonder if it matters if the tracks are real-life or fictional. A vanishingly small number of GT 7 players will ever get the chance to race at Interlagos, Daytona, or any of the other real-life tracks in the game. To everyone else, it doesn't matter much if the track is real or not, not to mention the fact that real-life track surfaces and configurations change over time, so the tracks in the game are at best rough snapshots of the real thing. Also, in my opinion, many of the fictional tracks provide better driving and racing experiences than real-life tracks, such as Grand Valley, Deep Forest, and Autumn Ring (I wish they would bring back the original SSR11 ). The "real driving simulator" is mostly in the physics, which you can enjoy equally well on real or fictional tracks.

SuperGT shown some exemple how you could go offroad by lost of control. No matter how much arcade PCeasant try hard. The overall physic seems quite ahead of what I've seen on PC.

Microtransactions.

Buy a fully priced game and then pay extra money for stuff already included in your game purchase.

Buy a game then pay money to avoid playing it.

How this has become an accepted norm in video games I will never understand.

After a couple of hours……. I think I was expecting something a bit different from the old GTs not sure why .Probably just wishful thinking. I like the idea of it upto the point where you’re racing. The whole start at the back and you’ve got a few laps to get to the front doesn’t create good racing. AI serve no real purpose apart from being moving chicanes, if you race ”properly“ you just don’t have enough time to get to the front so you do unrealistic overtakes to get the win. That or you go in with a car that can just drive round the AI without any real effort. If the racing with the AI was half decent and it was more of a proper race a win doesn’t matter so much just having a good race is enough even if you finish mid pack. But if the only real reward is a trophy rather than enjoying the race it’s just a bit empty.

Looks good enough on PS5 but AMS2 maxxed out is probably a more atmospheric racing experience. Trackside detail upto a point has more going on than you’re used to seeing on the Sims but the ontrack stuff isn’t necessarily a massive leap especially if you’re using cockpit view. HDR is nice compared to the poor HDR representations we get on PC which does add something.

I’ll dip in and out of it but I can’t see myself burning through dozens of hours on it.

Of course no one will force you to do payments...

I can tell that I have bought some cars to GT Sport, because I'm not fond of racing so much, I want hotlap with different cars/tracks, 90% of time. LIke GT3 cars and Tsukuba, which is fastest, then maybe change class to other cars/track etc etc. I do that in every car game or sim, have done it last 30 years.

Too bad the GT7 AI are still laughable slow and the challenges are still not a challenge. As an offline player GT 7 is not for me. If I race I want a challenge, not slalom through a pack of cars that happen to be on the same track.

The camera options are still EXACTLY the same as GT Sport, so there isn't still any proper dashboard camera or any options at all to remove virtual driver's hands and virtual wheel for players using a steering wheel... (－‸ლ)

I mean... it's 2022 and even ARCADE racers have that nowadays. So much for "the real driving simulator".

They still call it "Real driving simulator". How dare they? They could develop a great simulator if
they wanted because they have the money to hire simulation people, but they don't want to,
because a real simulator won't sell - a real simulator is difficult to drive and to have fun with for
the younger people, their market goal. So this thing won't ever be a racing simulator.

Now, by the looks of it after watching a few videos, it really does look pretty similar to GT Sport.
This is basically the same game. The cars modesl look great, interiors and all, as the previous
one, so... what's been bettered graphically? The trees look a bit better but they most don't
seem to be 3D trees like the latest Forza Horizon game has. Ray tracing? This makes the game
look unnatural - in real life you don't see those way too shiny reflections... absurd waste of
horse power. The rain effects look much better and realistic in Assetto Corsa with the mods.

Nice looking game to enjoy watching lots and lots of very well done cars, and some nice tracks.
But for the simulation part, this is still an arcade game with very basic car animations and feel
by the opinion of some users and the looks of it.

I won't buy this nor the expensive console. If it comes to PC, hopefully it will, won't buy it either.
I will watch some videos of it though once in a while because the cars look pretty realistic.
