The home race for the reigning and likely two-time champion Max Verstappen runs this weekend as F1 takes on Zandvoort.

It has become increasingly difficult to perceive any threats to Max Verstappen winning a second consecutive drivers' championship as the 2022 season has progressed, and this weekend is unlikely to change that trend.

Verstappen will be looking to claim victory in what is considered to be his home race, the Dutch Grand Prix. His campaign this season has been impressive to say the least, and neither Ferrari nor Mercedes have found an answer to his dominance.

With fewer than ten races left in 2022 and the drivers' and constructors' championships all but concluded, much of F1 viewing may shift to the midfield. After an impressive start to the year, Ferrari has been plagued by inconsistency and questionable strategy calls. They sit just 41 points ahead of Mercedes, who lack the pace of Ferrari or Red Bull, but have shown consistency.

A collision involving two drivers who account for nine drivers' championships occurred last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps when Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso collided early in the race. This captured a lot of negative attention on social media, but the former teammates have since been photographed together smiling and embracing.

This will be the last run at Zandvoort for Sebastian Vettel, who plans to retire at the end of this season. The four-time champion has long been a fan favourite, and this support has increased further since the announcement of his intended departure from F1.

Other than Verstappen, who do you expect to see on the podium this weekend?

Was I the only one who thought it rather convenient for RBR that Tsunoda was sent back out on to the track only to "break down" a few seconds later.

As their sister team I have to admit to rolling my eyes when Christian Horner later said during the race that they had "got all the strategy decisions right."

It was helpful, sure, but the Idea that it was planned or intentional is beyond silly. At that point, I think Max still had the advantage. He was up by somewhere around 15 secomes, the pit delta was around 18 seconds (which for some reason escaped Crofty and Button). And more importantly Red Bull didn’t seem that worried seeing that they didn’t pit after Hamilton was held up by Vettel, in which Max easily would have come back out in first.

And to what advantage? Lewis and Mercedes isnt RBR’s primary competition, Ferrari and LeClerc is, and that VSC helped them as much as Max. Why would RBR use their sister team to hold off someone that isn’t their primary competition? Why wouldn’t they have done so last year when it was actually close.

The idea that this was intentional as a conspiracy theory makes absolutely no sense.

It may have been the wrong call for both cars to stay out on mediums for Mercedes, but you absolutely cannot split strategies there. Make everyone pass both cars, not leave your leader as a complete sitting duck to a bunch of cars including to his own teammate.
I agree. It seems that it was not a team decision but rather Russels own decision (which was the correct one). You could have expected that Hamilton is demanding something similar or at least asking what Russell is doing, but it was definitely his engineers fault to not bring him in as well proactively. Would have been a 2/3 if both had pitted

Conspiracy thought are going off again. So pathetic.

What happened.
Tsunoda thought there was a problem with the fitting of the rear tire.
While accelerating the car wanted to go to one side.
But when a new tire was fitted and he returned already to the track, they found from the sensors that came back online, there was actually a problem with the differential. So he had to pit again, for good this time.

What are the attendance numbers for Laguna,Sebring, Watkins as opposed to Indianapolis, Daytona 500, Winternationals ? Not even close. Road circuits in the US are an outlier, not a money maker.

Be careful when you call someone ignorant. Just say you disagree, publish your position and move on.
Actually, attendance for Indycar (road circuits) and sports car racing is pretty big but more importantly both Miami and Austin F1 races were and are sold out this year. I'm pretty sure that Las Vegas will be sold out also; so for F1 the US is a money maker and a rich untapped market.
I agree that Stock Car and Drag racing have a lot of regional interest in America but mostly because it is a homegrown sport, works well for TV and is very well promoted by TV. However there is not a huge crossover in the fan bases between Stock Car and Sports Car racing.
Road racing has always been here although not as well promoted but TV has really made F1 more popular in the U.S. in the last few years (prior to this it wasn't easy to see the races on TV). For a sport that is really more about the show than the go it makes sense to court one of the richest markets in the world.

F1 is kind of pitiful.

Last week at Spa, DRS looked like cars had a jet engine.
Zandvoort is basically a kart track with banking.
Checko crashes so Max can keep pole.
No one can explain why Latifi is still a driver.
Riccardo can't out drive me.
Ferrari is................................Ferrari.
Williams should cease to exist.
Pit crews seem incapable of actually looking to see if another car is coming before releasing a car.
The constant poking around looking for a space to run at full speed during practice and qualifying is ridiculous.
The drivers constantly saying " The guy is a idiot" has gotten old.
Max has the personality of an under cooked noodle.
As does George.
Monaco should have been deleted long ago.
Las Vegas should never happen.
Crofty needs to be replaced ASAP.
The woman that follows Lewis around is kinda creepy and I don't care what you say.
Jos needs to stay his ass at home and let Max be a man.
Christian Horner is Littlefinger from GoT.
Guenter Steiner is the Wizard of Qz with a foul mouth.
It's a sport with no professional track officials who only do that job. Tennis tried this and it didn't turn out well
It can't decide if the lines are in or out from week to week.
It keeps trying to court the US, a country that only cares if cars go in straight lines for 3 seconds or around in circles for 2 days.
why do you put yourself through such such pain watching F1??? Maybe F1 isn't for you?

You haven't actually looked at attendence numbers, have you?

For starters, 400,000 people came to watch the F1 race in COTA last year, which is more then any other F1 race that year.

It is higher then the amount of people watching the Indy 500 this year (325k). It's also way higher then the Daytona 500 this year (100k), and higher then the amount of seats that the Winternationals even has (which is 40k).

At Abu Dhabi the Mercedes strategy was correct. If they had pitted then RBR would not and MaxV would have taken the lead. Mercedes planned on the safety car providing them with the race win with the race finishing under yellow... so keeping track position was important.

At Zandvoort this weekend there were too many laps left for LewisH to hold off MaxV; Mercedes should have brought him in to go onto softs. There was enough of a gap for LH to be in and out without losing track postion to CharlesL - and he came in on lap 56 too.

LewisH would have been in second place at the restart and even if he'd not been able to pass MaxV then he would have almost certainly finished second.

Once LewisH failed to pit when the safety car came out and opted for track position his race was doomed - overtaken by the three closest cars all of which had swapped onto softs.

The "Mercedes"'s driver dive-bomb in lap1 turn1, damaged Sainz's car.

It was super, super, super, super late.

Mercedes's driver cannot start and drive other than from P1.

A 7 years-old learns in his first year of racing games' open lobbies that he CAN'T just over-shoot the closing gap in t1 and understeer outside the racing line with only prayers to help him make the corner (or leaning on the car ahead to help).

In no universe but our universe is his accident NON-PUNISHABLE.

After this, no one can ever penalize me for anything I do in racing.

100% fairness.

I am saying this as a Ferrari fan. It wasn't as simple as you described. The incident happened on the apex stage of the corner. There was a gap that Lewis snuck inside while Carlos closed the gap as he was aiming for a late apex. Racing incident. Dive-bomb looks very different to that.

I am more alarmed due to this year's racing rules thanks to which you no longer have to leave space at all times even with little overlap.

Any1 can explain to me how H was quickest then S was quickest? and the M was "bad"? so bizarre!
(also how not pitting was best and then pitting was best)?

I get what you're saying but after the start it's adrenaline and seconds so quick to react these guys are going for it

Trolling ? If I state things I see wrong with F1 I am trolling ? Trolling is saying something just to get a reaction from people. I don't give a **** about people's reaction, I am stating what I see wrong with F1 from 30 years of watching the sport.

If you don't agree with my assessment, great. But don't label my comments because you don't like them.

Go back and read your post , it is worrying if you think it was acceptable.

Okay back to the Dutch GP why is Toto Wolf whining about the Alpha Tauri conspiracy theories? it does not make any sense
