Who will win the Dutch GP?

The home race for the reigning and likely two-time champion Max Verstappen runs this weekend as F1 takes on Zandvoort.

It has become increasingly difficult to perceive any threats to Max Verstappen winning a second consecutive drivers' championship as the 2022 season has progressed, and this weekend is unlikely to change that trend.

Verstappen will be looking to claim victory in what is considered to be his home race, the Dutch Grand Prix. His campaign this season has been impressive to say the least, and neither Ferrari nor Mercedes have found an answer to his dominance.

With fewer than ten races left in 2022 and the drivers' and constructors' championships all but concluded, much of F1 viewing may shift to the midfield. After an impressive start to the year, Ferrari has been plagued by inconsistency and questionable strategy calls. They sit just 41 points ahead of Mercedes, who lack the pace of Ferrari or Red Bull, but have shown consistency.

A collision involving two drivers who account for nine drivers' championships occurred last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps when Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso collided early in the race. This captured a lot of negative attention on social media, but the former teammates have since been photographed together smiling and embracing.

This will be the last run at Zandvoort for Sebastian Vettel, who plans to retire at the end of this season. The four-time champion has long been a fan favourite, and this support has increased further since the announcement of his intended departure from F1.

Other than Verstappen, who do you expect to see on the podium this weekend?

Perez crashes so Max can take pole maybe Toto's words but who takes that man seriously considering all the list you mention, maybe you should focus on a different sport and just stop watching at all
All sports suck. I just decided to comment on this one. And the Perez comment had nothing to do with Toto. My observations.

I think one the most interesting things about today's race was how many people they pack into such a small track. I remember camping at the track in 1983 and we had our tent directly next to the track. I could actually watch the race while lying in the tent.

F1 is kind of pitiful.

Last week at Spa, DRS looked like cars had a jet engine.
Zandvoort is basically a kart track with banking.
Checko crashes so Max can keep pole.
No one can explain why Latifi is still a driver.
Riccardo can't out drive me.
Ferrari is................................Ferrari.
Williams should cease to exist.
Pit crews seem incapable of actually looking to see if another car is coming before releasing a car.
The constant poking around looking for a space to run at full speed during practice and qualifying is ridiculous.
The drivers constantly saying " The guy is a idiot" has gotten old.
Max has the personality of an under cooked noodle.
As does George.
Monaco should have been deleted long ago.
Las Vegas should never happen.
Crofty needs to be replaced ASAP.
The woman that follows Lewis around is kinda creepy and I don't care what you say.
Jos needs to stay his ass at home and let Max be a man.
Christian Horner is Littlefinger from GoT.
Guenter Steiner is the Wizard of Qz with a foul mouth.
It's a sport with no professional track officials who only do that job. Tennis tried this and it didn't turn out well
It can't decide if the lines are in or out from week to week.
It keeps trying to court the US, a country that only cares if cars go in straight lines for 3 seconds or around in circles for 2 days.

What are the attendance numbers for Laguna,Sebring, Watkins as opposed to Indianapolis, Daytona 500, Winternationals ? Not even close. Road circuits in the US are an outlier, not a money maker.

Be careful when you call someone ignorant. Just say you disagree, publish your position and move on.
If road courses were not moneymakers, the US would not have some of the best road courses in the world (Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Sebring, etc.) If you've been watching Indycar, you probably didn't notice that crowds at road course races are excellent, often better than at races on oval tracks.

Also, Indianapolis and Daytona can accomodate many more spectators than road courses. So this kind of comparison is a bit... useless. Indianapolis can have as many as 400,000 spectators in one day.

Furthermore, I'd like to compare the attendance numbers for IMSA races to SRO GT races in Europe.

What's going on with Hamilton? Second race in a row he does a rookie mistake!

He was doing a great race, showing his pedigree, until the restart after the SC. That was incredibly naive from him, and a perfect way to throw away the track position the team gave him. He can whine all that he wants about how he was effed up, but great champions make the best of what they are given, and he blew it.

Why go early on a track where the S/F is so close to the braking zone? Why not try to bunch up the field? You know that your best survival chances come by provoking a fight between the drivers behind on best tyres, spacing them out and give the RBR steamroller the space to stretch its legs is surely the worst thing to do?

Nope, pretend it's 2020 and you still have the fastest car. Floor it early against the car with the best straightline perfomance and expect for it to work. 10/10.

Doesn't matter. Verstappen was on fresh softs, Hamilton on mediums. Lewis was a sitting duck.

This was like Abu Dhabi last season: Lewis in first, Max in second, safety car, Max gets a free pitstop to change to softs. Mercedes didn't want to risk pitting Lewis, because if he had been the only one pitting, he would have come back in the the middle of the pack. It's one of those "damn if you do, damn if you don't" situation. What I don't understand is why Mercedes opted to pit Russell and remove a buffer between Lewis and Max. That's the big mistake.

Only one ? I'm spoiled for choice. Have a look at it sober.
Trolling ? If I state things I see wrong with F1 I am trolling ? Trolling is saying something just to get a reaction from people. I don't give a **** about people's reaction, I am stating what I see wrong with F1 from 30 years of watching the sport.

If you don't agree with my assessment, great. But don't label my comments because you don't like them.

Funny you mention that, the co commentator for Austrian TV (former F1 driver Alexander Wurz) said exactly the same. He said he would wait until just before S/F before accelerating away and gave much the same reasoning.

Probably wouldn't have mattered in the end, seeing how far away Max was in the end, but it would have given him at least a better chance I guess.

I think the idea that Mercedes had with Russell was to put him on softs so he could pressure Max from behind to give Lewis some breathing space. It went terribly, though because neither car could even stick with Max for more than a couple of corners.

It would have been a fight of some sorts instead of being settled in metres. Hamilton gave up any hopes he had with such a blunder.

Russell call that on his own, it wasnt a Mercedes strategy. And he was right to do it, because HE would be sitting duck if he wasnt on softs.

There was no way Max was going to be denied the win even if both Mercedes stayed out. The guy is relentless if he has the slightest pace advantage.

That's absolutely wrong. Mercedes would have had no driver on the podium if they would have played it the way you described. The guys behind on soft would have eaten them up. It was both Hamiltons and his engineers fault to not pit (him) again, would have been the only right choice.

It may have been the wrong call for both cars to stay out on mediums for Mercedes, but you absolutely cannot split strategies there. Make everyone pass both cars, not leave your leader as a complete sitting duck to a bunch of cars including to his own teammate.
