TT Isle of Man - The Game

As someone who's not really familiar with motorcycles/bikes (I've only ever driven some 50 cc ones), I quite like it, despite only being able to drive using the various training wheels ;) When you get it right, it feels really great, and it obviously looks (and runs) quite good. A bit too much aliasing for my tastes, which becomes more of a problem the faster you go as you need to be looking far ahead to see what's coming, yet the details of where you look are quite pixelated, which can lead to mistakes. But nothing too bad, I'd say, plus it will hopefully be possible to solve it (the game only offers FXAA and TAA, but hopefully some better AA options will be possible through the GPU drivers). Shame about not being able to change the FOV (unless I've missed it somewhere), but the default in the 1st person view suits me fairly well. They've toned down the dirt on the windscreens, which now makes the 1st person view a perfectly valid option, I like it - it still does get dirty, but you can see through it fairly well, nothing like the solid wall of grey smudge in their previous videos. Would also like an option to disable the camera movement - it's nice for immersion I guess, but it makes controlling the bike harder.

The biggest issue I have with the game is the controls, and that's more of a bike game issue than it is the game's fault. I've basically settled on using my flight stick with throttle and brakes mapped to buttons, it certainly feels like the best option for me. But I will try some more alternatives. I tried keyboard (I much prefer keyboard over gamepad in pretty much any situation, unlike most others) and I also wanted to try using a wheel, but the game doesn't even detect it, not even as a generic controller (T300). The biggest problem I have with the controls, though, is the lack of feedback - most of my crashes happen when I upset the bike somehow or go over the limit of traction, but notice it too late to be able to do something about it due to only having the visual cues to detect it. It would certainly be great to actually feel what the bike is doing, just like we can feel it through the wheel in the car sims. But again, I guess that's a general issue due to the lack of actual control option for a motorcycle/bike.

Here's a somewhat acceptable lap with one of the less powerful bikes in the game. Still plenty of crashes and tons of close calls, but not as embarrassing as my first attempt I had in my first look stream ;)

Hi Peter, how does the handling compare to Ride?
Sorry mate I didn't ignore this just that after I bought the game I had a few family issues to sort out over the weekend and then picked up a damn sickness bug so only really had a chance to get on with the game yesterday. Now you have it you of course know the answer yourself

I only have two gripes about the game, I really miss the helmet view style cam that the MS games have. And I think the game defo needs the auto steering correction for rear slides....once the rear goes I have no idea how to recover....oh and unlike MS games you can lean too much....not sure if I like that as I'm certain a reaI rider gauges that with his/her knee down?

Yeah they do need to work on the behaviour of the rear.. It's not too bad really (arguably) on the IOM TT Mountain course because it's more of a specialised "front end" high speed course. But for sure it would be nice to feel the rear tyre pushing more on the throttle. Also for the rear to react more progressively and more like a motorcycle when it does let go..

Front end also needs tweaking I think. It needs to "tuck" more when you overdo it on the front brake and not meander across the track as much as it does.. Some "low-sides" would be nice also but to achieve that I guess Kylotonn would have to look more deeply at the tyre modelling? Also it has to be said when was the last time anyone got a conventional "low-side" (not just on trail braking) on any of the current Milestone games? The lean angle limit built into Milestone's physics model in RIDE 2 and motogp17 does not help those games in that respect.

But talking IOM TT it does need tweaking a bit.. Kylotonn are I think listening to constructive feedback. I hope they do upgrade and modify the physics (suspension and weight transfer would also be nice..) because at its heart I think it's a great game for what it is. With a little more applied tlc on the physics by the developer it could be a landmark title I think. But for a first attempt at a motorcycle racing title for me the game is highly enjoyable once you get your head into it..

I really hope Kylotonn are in this for the long haul and that this game is the first instalment of more bike games from them in the future. A little birdie tells me it could be so..

Did you plug the wireless Xbox one controller in via cable?
So far I have tried an Xbox one wired controller, an xbox 360 controller and my GPX thrustmaster and all work first time no problems. Perhaps there is a problem with your PC?
New Alienware Area 51 R2, Titan X SLI etc.
Every other game I've played is fine, that's the point. The whole issue about this game is there appears to be bugs on release (take a look at the Steam forum).
The fact that people can't even work around it with various input mappers suggests to me I am better off getting a refund and taking another look later.

Steam forums and reviews are worth as much soaking wet tissue. Full of people who think the DVD drive is coffee cup holder and idiots who can't play any games properly.
But obviously some, like yourself are having problems. Are you on Windows 10? I am on Seven and I am very happy with it.

I've seen a few replies on the steam forums so hopefully Kyloton are getting good feedback and will act, I read it on steam first then noticed myself but the front forks do not compress under braking either which looks strange and could be why the front does weird stuff as well.

What's your take on the back brake?....it seems to fully engage the clutch, I presume to stop the rear locking....but then isn't that what a slipper clutch is for? Could be another gap in the physics engine?

I'm still honing my skills:rolleyes: on Tyrone, but I noticed when I returned to the game I was better, not fast but less likely to crash. It is very intense and that's me on the easy course and semi pro difficulty.

You're going to love the experience of the full TT course....you'll crash (a lot) but it's just ace to blast along the fast bits!!

I can't believe they got the circuit so right and riding so wrong.

The rear wheel just gives up at any moment with no warning. Then it pivots you into the wall. You have no control over this and not the slightest indication it's going to happen.

I can live with the weird rider animations, and the deeply uninspired sound, but the rear wheel's mind of its own totally junks the rest of the experience for me.

Thought I would get a thread together to discuss settings for various control methods in this great game. After a lot of testing these are my settings so far for the Xbox One controller on PC.

Steering sensitivity on 0% has helped a lot with this game especially in long radius corners.

Now that I have got to grips with the game I am now using 10% steering sensitivity.

It runs incredibly smooth for me and because of that the handling is smooth as well , I can even break right up to nearly falling off and only been on the game an hour (all assists off) . Hey for those of you with quad core computers or multi core look up 'CPU Core Parking' on google , it is a core 'unparker' this little programme makes sure that all the cores are working all the time if you want more performance, I have had a good handful of frames by activating this and better physics also .
