Studio 397 have dropped the news that the fifth and final GT3 car coming to the GT3 Challengers DLC will be... the 2019 Aston Martin Vantage GT3!

Another new licence to the rapidly expanding rFactor 2 racing simulation, confirmation of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is also another sim racing exclusive - with Studio 397 having once again secured bragging rights as the first racing simulation to deploy a brand new spec GT3 car to the genre - joining the recently announced McLaren 720s revealed earlier this week.

In other rather happy news, Studio 397 have also confirmed the GT3 Challengers pack will be released tomorrow! Sadly, due to the tight timeframe constraints of licencing and the approvals process, the Aston Martin will not be made available immediately alongside the Porsche 911 GT3 R, BMW M6 GT3, Audi R8 LMS GT3 and McLaren 720s GT3 - players will have to wait just a little bit longer to find out how the new Aston drives (and looks!) in sim, until final approvals have been released by the manufacturer.

That aside, the imminent release of this upcoming and rather exciting looking new DLC for rFactor 2 should give us all a rather solid reason to avoid having to socialise with family over the Christmas period - that alone being worth the price of the new pack!

GT3 Challengers DLC Contents:
  • Aston Martin Vantage GT3 (delayed release)
  • Audi R8 LMS GT3
  • BMW M6 GT3
  • McLaren 720s GT3
  • Porsche 911 GT3 R

rFactor 2 is available exclusively for PC from Steam now.

The ridiculous loading times, finding a specific official s397 car in the list, again awful loading time when you click on a car, it's just unbelievable and unacceptable.
Oh, good grief... put the loading time in perspective of how long you drive the car. Unless you're switching cars or changing tracks every 15-20 minutes during a couple hours of play, the loading time is <1% of your play time. And if you ARE switching cars & tracks frequently... well, cultivating a longer attention span might prove worthwhile to all aspects of your life.

Shame the Aston Martin isn't included in the pack at this point (will be unlocked later if you bought the pack, not even screenshots can be shown at this point), I was quite hyped for it :( I do understand why that is, but still.

So, are you saying 20 years ago you didn't play games because the UI looked horrible?

Or, did you just get on with the show and enjoyed the game?

Asking for a friend.

(Oh, and they've already mentioned that the updated UI is coming by Q1 2019 in previous posts)
The rf2 ui is bad because it has very poor usability and general lack of features. Most of the issues are missing features which is mostly caused by rf2's inheritance of rf1 engine which is essentially designed to be a platform for shipping full games and not a modding platform. One content can break other content, strict naming requirements for everything not explained anywhere, complex fire structure, complex and limited packaging of game content, extremely limited, confusing and annoying user editability. All of which is fine if you are studio making a game that ships as its own closed system where you can just document all the quirks and work around them when your programmer sits between your physics guy 3d modeller).

The ui lacks a lot of flexibity you'd want in a moddable game. Simply adding skins takes more steps that average newborn baby takes in their first 4 years. The server browser is another example which is worse than the one I used in 1998 to play quake online. Worse. How can it be that bad? Literally all the info that is even little bit useful is hidden away. The ui is really bad because it lacks functionality and replaces usability with complexity. Then you need to go notepadding into the text files, figure out multiple step workarounds for issues which should not be issues in this year anymore. Just look at the car selector for ai races. The ui just pukes a long list of all the cars on you and hopes you find what you want. The user is constatly expected to mess with mas files, create their own local mods and be a phd rf2 modder just to do a thing that take one click in any other game. And it has no strengths at all. There is nothing rf2 can do that others can't. Not one single thing. Sure the ui can show 3d models so you can view the broken shaders car models in a showroom.

The new ui could look exactly like the current ui does if it comes with tons of basic stuff that the ui is supposed to do. It is just sad how there are still people around for whom the words ui just means graphics on screen you can click. How it looks artistically is just one part of the bigger picture. And nobody complains about that.

Considering s397 had to rewrite the whole ui from ground up to even attempt to fix it paints it in elephant sized letters that the ui is horrible. And how long and complex that project has been highlights even further how deeply problematic the ui in rf2 is/was on the most basic level.

Am I doing something wrong? I loved rF1. it was awesome. Graphics, gameplay and driveability.
But rF2 the graphics are horrible. tracks and world have too much texture and gameplay is awful. Driving the cars just doesn't feel right.
I run AC, ACC, R3E, and Automobilista.
I have played with the graphics setting and everything until I am blue in the face but it just is horrible.
Any ideas??

Hi Martin. the general all round images are too harsh, too much contrast just too 'bitty'.
I dont need to adjust my screen as all other sims are ok.
maybe it something to do with the setup of the anisotropic or FXAA or something. I have seem to played with every setting but cant get anything right

Someone has DISAGREEd with my post. Whats is he disagreeing about? Maybe he just hasn't read it right. I am not saying rF2 is crap. I just cant get it running right.
Dont disagree when you havent read my post and understood it!!!!
