Modding Questions Thread

Hey everyone,

Can anyone guide me a bit on how to change the size of the apps (in built as well as the ones from the modding community) on my screen in AC? I keep quite a bit of them on screen but then they tend to hog a lot of screen space and I cant seem to focus on my driving. I have seen people on Youtube having smaller sizes of the exact same apps that I am using.

Thanks,
Sharjeel

I download this, but being a pc dummy, and a noobie to ac, what car does it skin? there is no ford escort?

am I missing something big? I download so much stuff, and don't have any idea how to install, except just drop it in ?doesn't always work.

coz I have to ask so much stuff,im clearly not up to this, should I give ac away, I hate keep asking questions, feel like im being a pain in ass!

Nick.

Don't worry @Nick10, it can be frustrating at the start if you're not much into PC, though obviously you will have to know how to go about the Windows folder locations. What is it you want to know about, specifically? As a start, you install car mods into this folder: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars and tracks into this folder: C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks. You'll get a better idea when you look into those folders and see all the installed cars and tracks, respectively.

Not certain if this is the right place for it, but.

In order to update a car mod that crashes with version 1.1:
1) Go to the car's data folder, open aero.ini in a text editor. Delete the 'data' section:
Code:
[DATA]
REFERENCE_AREA=1.65		; Frontal area in m^2
CD=0.35					; Drag coefficient
CL=-0.05 ; lift coefficient (positive is downforce, negative is lift)
FRONT_SHARE=0.50 ; percentance of drag on front axis
CDX=1
CDY=1
All of that, erase.

2) If it's still crashing, go to the sfx folder. If you don't want to mess around, just delete the .bank & it'll load ok with no sounds.
Otherwise, open the GUIDs.txt. It'll be a set of lines like this.
Code:
{0cfb15eb-581b-49e3-a190-6248d359d460} event:/cars/reliant_robin/backfire_ext
Specifically, you can only fix it if they all have "event:/cars/name_of_car/" in the middle.
If so, you need to look up the bank name that goes with them. Navigate to assettocorsa/content/sfx/GUIDs.txt. Search for the beginning of the line ("0cfb15eb", etc.). You'll find that the original version of it was
Code:
{0cfb15eb-581b-49e3-a190-6248d359d460} event:/cars/abarth500/backfire_ext
Find the corresponding bank:/abarth500 line,
Code:
{d1cd7211-834d-4f6c-8b03-5bca57d0e346} bank:/abarth500
(substituting the name that you found earlier)
Put this into the car's GUIDs.txt, modified to match the name used already:
Code:
{d1cd7211-834d-4f6c-8b03-5bca57d0e346} bank:/reliant_robin
Also go to that original car's folder (content/cars/abarth500/sfx) and copy the bank, renaming it to match the car you're fixing.

If the steps in (2) don't work, the car's using a custom bank that's broken. Go bug whoever made it.

As before, you can also do this (copy bank & GUIDs) to put sound on other cars that have custom sounds that are broken.

Hi Modders
(sorry I'm unable to post in the mod section)

I was wondering if I could help out getting the sounds for any of the cars you wonderfully talented people are creating? Or even if I could create or change files? I work in a supercar club in the UK called Supercar Driver ( www.supercar-driver.com ) and so have access to all sorts of cars.

For starters I've noticed that the Ferrari F355 mod has the 458 Italia sound file, which is a shame as the F355 is the most wonderful sounding car on the planet. I should know as I have one, its decatted and has a tubi exhaust. (here it is at Donnington -
)

What would I need to do to create a sound file for that mod so that I could update it and also send it to the original creator to update his files and share with others? I have some on board footage with sounds its this is any good? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0sqsW4LeCs Or is there a certain set of recording thats would be required?

Also, do any of you guys need anything in particular? I have access to anything from Aston Martin DB5's to a Bugatti Veyron.

Cheers
Jonty

Hi,

I've made up a helmet design for myself and copied it into a random Ferrari GT2 skin directory to make sure it works, everything is fine.

Just wanted to confirm with regards to the helmet files themselves, one option is to copy the new file into the skin folder for each car I want to use it with, are there any other places where it's useful?

Say for example if I went to do the career mode, does it grab the helmet texture from somewhere else specifically for the career mode?

I see there are helmet files in the driver folder (which look like helmet designs for the retro cars).

Spent the last week getting my mods and cars working, this is the last job on the list! haha.

hi Jonty355

I would really like to stay in touch with you if that would be ok?
Myself, I am helping to bring about the following projects via funding.

1- Supercar
2-A V8
3-A track mod (huge).
4-A unusual track and number of cars experience.
5-Track matched with at least three cars, different time period.

A bit about me, I am into VR and simulation racing, I really believe in virtual reality as a platform for simulation racing and I will be doing the best I can this year and maybe next year towards making some magic happen.

I have to be honest and say due to the level of quality I am requesting and also the modding team is doing they are booked out, but I might be interested in a proof of completion project. That is we draw up a list of several of your cars, we pick a most desirable (unusual, lots of loud car sound) to the community, maybe adding a vote option to the thread and then we seek out a modding team happy to work on the project. I can afford to 50 to 100 euros in a weeks time.

What sound equipment do you have?
Do you have any experience recording cars?

I would defiantly like to add you as a friend if that's ok, I am motivated to bring amazing experiences to Asseto Corsa.

I will PM you.

Thanks
Bud

Hi guys,

I need a little help with the URD templates. The wireframe layer of the templates have black backgrounds :/

I like to work with individual components of the car for different effects (i.e.: two-tone colours, bonnet+roof+boot black, rest of body red etc.) but I need transparent backgrounds for the wireframe layers. The Darche template has some elements and KS's templates have exactly what I need but I'm looking to paint the Aston Martin, Porsche and Ferrari from the URD EGT mod.

I tried adjusting the blending options in PS CS6 to "hide" the black but it doesn't really do what I need it to, at least not in a skinning sense anyway.

You can try 'add' for blending mode, as long as the skin's not too light coloured.

Or copy the layer into its own alpha channel, not sure the precise steps in CS6 but it'd be something like go to the channel view and duplicate the red layer and name it alpha, or copy it into existing alpha.

Set the blending mode too "screen"

Greetings

Like you read on the title, at least for me, they don't work any longer.
I read somewhere mods differ from PC to PC and eventually on some it will work on others it won't. How right is that? Whats the problem?

I have installed some month ago 3 F1 cars and i couldn't get past the loading screen at the point "populating favorites", game is stuck and wont proceed to the menu. Then all you can do is alt+ctrl+delete and end the process of the game ... and this wasn't the case before.

I thought it was only to those cars. Few days ago i put some other cars which are not created by AC and they too gave me the same problems i encountered before. I realized, every car which is not created by AC would be doing these problems, and it's painful you know ...

To some (some PC's) they are okay to others (like myself) it's not good.

Is it the PC? Is it something set in the game different? I don't know.
I hope someone can help me.

i think until the mods are updated to be compatible with the current build they will cause these issues, i received an email from the URD team saying their mod was updated to work with the current build so i guess the other modders will have to do the same

Hey everyone,

I'm simply looking for Assetto Corsa's official default PP filter from before version 1.1.X because I liked the PP filter much more back then.

Thanks,
Kromey

What is the cause for also reading the tone of the load side at the same time at accelerator off? Please tell me the person who understands.
