We talk to Niels Heusinkveld and try out the soon to be released Heusinkveld Sim Pedals Sprint.

Catching up with Niels Heusinkveld at the recent very busy Sim Racing Expo over in Germany, we took the opportunity to quiz the man behind Heusinkveld Engineering about his newly announced Sim Pedals Sprint set of high end sim racing pedals. With Niels in a buoyant mood following what appeared to be a largely very positive reception to the new hardware, we took the opportunity to question him about the features and improvements of the new gear, learning plenty about how some dramatic software features and production improvements have moved the product range on from the already very impressive offerings of HE Engineering.

Not content with merely taking Niels at his word, we also couldn't quite resist the chance to get strapped into the cockpit and have a go ourselves, recording a short but sweet talk and drive segment as we give our first impressions based on the limited time we had with these brand new set of pedals.

Frankly, I was very impressed, although it is exceptionally hard to gather any serious kind of feel with something like a high end set of pedals with such a short period of time behind the wheel... not helped any by a crowd of people watching on, and a camera and microphone in my face!

However, with that said I'm going to be lucky enough to take receipt of a review set of these pedals in the very near future, so please consider this more of a taster video, with a much more in depth and detailed look at the HE Sim Pedals Sprint set to appear on our various social media channels in the near future. So stay tuned, get subscribed and watch out for some new footage in the (hopefully) coming weeks...

I ordered the 3 pedals two weeks ago and I only received an email saying my shipment would be available around May 8th.

What email address do you write to? I have sent an email to customerservices@demon-tweeks.com to ask about the stock but I have not received an answer.

Order from Spain.

Okay, I've ordered 2 pedals. Maybe that makes a difference. I did wrote to that mail address after I got a shipment notification, just to be sure they really DID send them, instead of giving just a mail.

Maybe some countries have preferences over others...

What are you suggesting? I'm just giving and update about the order, there is no need to behave
prejudiced.

I got a reply to my email and they informed me they have a shipment coming April 10th and they expect to ship my order when that arrives.
I have also received an answer to my email. He says they expect to receive the shipment of my order around May 8th. I placed the order on March 12 so I imagine that your lot would arrive before mine.

Previously heusinkveld replied by email, that they send a fixed stock every month to demon tweeks

I had the same date about the 10th April, but I had an email on Saturday saying my order had shipped. Who knows? I ordered a simlabs keyboard tray at the same time - so my suprise parcel could be either I guess....

I must be lucky because this morning I sent them an e-mail asking if I will receive any confirmation when my packet is shipped (I placed my order last Saturday (23th) and they have answered this evening that it has already been shipped and have provided a tracking number that indicates that my pedals are already in Spain and will be with me tomorrow. :roflmao:

Great package, full of quality details (just look at that big colour manual full of instructions and illustrations!). It's great that the pedals come already assembled and ready to work. First I did was to lower the brake pedal by inverting the pad, as the instructions indicate. Then I increased the throttle travel (it's noticeably less than my Fanatec's) and reduced its stiffness. The guys at HE have made a gigantic design effort to make these pedals easily adjustable in every imaginable way. What I still don't like too much is how the brake feels. With the default setup the travel is soft until you reach and sudden end and then it becomes harder. Shouldn't it feel like a continuous progression of stiffness? Or is that a normal behaviour in race cars pedals? I suppose trying different combinations of the provided rubbers, preloads, etc. may change the way the brake feels. I will see this tomorrow.

We discussed this brake at SimExpo - their stance is that in racecars the brake pedal literally doesn't have any travel/play - and right from the start needs a lot of pressure to begin the braking... They feel almost solid.

I didn't change any bushes and my brake is pretty stiff from the get-go. I like it.
