Grow yourself a beard and put on your racing gloves, Group C is here. No ABS, no TC, up to 700PS and only 900kg.

On Tuesday 1st of June we're off to race these iconic cars at the Salzburgring!!

Austria's second permanent track nestles in the hills of the Salzkammergut, a short distance to the east of the city of Salzburg. It's one of the most beautiful settings for a race circuit, with the hillsides forming natural grandstands and providing an unusual top-down view on racing action.

This is a place to be for relaxed, friendly racing and our events are open to everybody from rookies to the seasoned pros. You will always find people around your level to battle with, so jump on in! If you need any help the don't hesitate to ask right here on the forum or on race comms... there's no such thing as a stupid question!

A message to all Drivers

If you run off track, you have to check to see that its clear before you re enter the track. Do not just keep the gas pinned and pull back on track.

When entering the track from the pits, stay off the racing line until you are up to speed. Do not race on your out lap, let other drivers by. On re-entering the track stay off the racing line until you are up to race speed and do not block any fast approaching car. Try to re-enter the track parallel to the racing line.

Golden Rule

1. If you hit somebody off the track and carry on like nothing happened, you take the risk of being banned for 30 days.
2. Instead, you should always wait for the affected drivers, and that way you can be 100% sure you will not get a ban.

Track limits

1. No more than 2 wheels over the white/yellow line without a lift of the gas please.
   You will be penalized if you break our rules

ST for me please, think I need to slowly work up to the LT

Went as a passenger on a track day with a mate in his 911 to the Salburgring, ended up with motion sickness, hopefully it won't repeat itself in the ST

Hi Taj, your in with the ST! Will be a good track to practice getting the exits right in the short tail cars The track surface is supposed to be excellent even if it looks a bit 2014 above ground. Good thing with group c is there's no time to look around at the scenery and shiny things anyway

No idea how lap times will compare. Looking at the track map i would guess the long tails will be quicker.

I try to find the time to give all three cars a fair try. Considering the corners plus the braking before and the first meters of accelerating after a corner I guess the ST could still be the fastest car here.

However, please sign me up, so far with no car choice...

You're in Reik! I suppose it will also depend on taking that whole back straight flat or not! Have fun testing!

The Salzburgring has/had a reputation of being a power circuit, if I remember correctly changes were made to slow the track down.

I remember my mate being flat out on the throttle in his 911 on most of the track. And at the historic racing, you could hear the race cars on full throttle on the back straight, they are not really corners in a decent car.

My guts say the LT would be quicker than the ST in competent hands but I'm sticking with the ST
I await Reik's professional testing with bated breath.

Maybe you can talk me into the slowest car but under no circumstances you'll get me into the Mazda. I just don't like this car.

Beard suitability grown and feeling like a challenge.............. put me down for the Merc please Brian. I adore this part of the world, been there many times on my bike trips but hopefully I won’t get too close to the scenery in this race!

You're in with the merc Paul! Straight in a the deep end! One bit of advice from @640er with this was to steer it in through the corner with the brake pedal. It has a very tight diff!!

Hi Jim. Ye there was some issues.

After some laps in the C9 and not knowing Reiks time other than his C9 time, I think this will be a tight match between the cars. Looong straights but also corners which are most likely flat out with the ST … + a lap time somewhere above one minute should make for a close grid throughout the races
