Welcome to the RD Racing Club.

A new championship unique in history!

Summary:

  • Follows the Formula 1 championship calendar (22 races)
  • Kart tracks with the same Grand Prix circuit layout
  • Easy to learn car (very few setup options) but challenging to go fast
  • On Thursdays before the real GP
  • Total time (P,Q,R): only one hour!
  • Proven to be a lot of fun in testevents
  • At least 12 participants required, otherwise it will be canceled.
  • Closed championship, post here to sign up.
This is indeed something new for RaceDepartment: a championship that lasts an entire racing season. The tracks have a great resemblance to the real circuits. You will find that the hard part in real life is heavy on these tracks too. That's why it's a fun way to find out what the F1 drivers experience.

The car, although equipped with 6 gears, is slow, but because the track is short, the lap times are close to those of the Formula 1 cars. It is quite intense which is why the race is limited to 30 minutes.

While fun is the primary goal, we'll use some settings to make it a little more challenging.

  • Pit stop is mandatory as in F1.
  • Realistic track conditions will be used, based on the average temperatures for the track on that date.
  • Grip doesn't start at 100%, but will improve there.
It is not mandatory to participate in every event. If you miss one, you just don't get points like a DNF in real life. Almost every participant will skip a couple of events due to vacation or other reasons.

So if you want to feel a little bit of what Lewis and Max are experiencing and have fun at the same time, you can join the championship by posting here.

This is a closed championship! Please post here if you want to sign up!

Championship details:

  • Car: Ligier JS8 S1
  • The events are on Thursday in the week of a F1 Grand Prix. See S.GP for the dates.
  • 12 min practice, 12 min qualify, 30min race
  • Improving track conditions (96% - 100%)
  • Mandatory pitstop (at least 1liter of fuel)
  • Practice server will be available during the week of the event.
  • Further details such as scoring rules and track conditions can be found on the Championship S.GP page https://beta.simracing.gp/championships/JLWHQBzvFUcLt5cvw0t1l
  • For each event, a thread will be posted as usual as a reminder and for the latest information.

All premium members can sign up for this event and slots are limited so make sure to tag a friend! This event will take place on the newly developed platform Simracing.GP and it's extremely easy to join!

Okay, sign me up! Sounds like fun indeed :D

At what time does the practice start?
Hi Geert Jan,

I'll sign you up but I doubt if this championship is going to be. Only 5 participants up till now. For such a long championship I want at least 12 drivers.
The event (P,Q,R) starts at 20.00. You can see that in the S.GP event. But there's a practice server available throughout the week.

EDIT: You're in!
