Trucks are Coming to RaceRoom!

As found out initially during the F1-style car release, trucks are now making their way to RaceRoom. Get ready to drive big rigs on small tracks and try to overtake with these massive racing beasts.

Trucks are coming to RaceRoom. The Swedish sim is now receiving big rigs to drive for everyone. This has been known since the F1-style vehicles have been released, however, it was just a matter of time before this announcement would come.

The trucks featured in the video seem to be exactly as though, RaceRoom branded. Meaning there will be no Ivecos, no MANs, just no real-life branded trucks for now.

This stands in stark contrast to the only real sim racing competitor in this space: AMS 2. The Brazilian sim does feature trucks as well but features real-life brands competing in the Brazilian Copa Truck.

RaceRooms developer, KW Studios, claims in this teaser video that their virtual trucks were/are developed with real drivers.

No new tracks seem to have been teased in this video, this means that to simulate a virtual European Truck Racing Championship, you would have to replace a few tracks still. Misano, Bugatti Circuit and Circuito del Jarama would have to find replacements if you plan on starting a virtual championship.

But on the other hand, good tracks for truck racing, like Autodrom Most and Slovakia Ring are already featured within RaceRoom.

It is not the strength and the clipping (I don't use strlng FFB). it is the way it acts, not natural and bland. And that odd steering ratio. I'll have to check that. Thanks.

I had a look at the Capri. It's got a very slow steering rack on the default stetting which does feel a bit odd compared to more modern cars. I reduced it's rotation to 540deg (from 700) but kept the lock to 20deg and it feels much better. You definitely have to get the tyres up to temp though, the car doesn't start to come alive until they are at least at 60 ish which takes a few laps of steady but purposeful driving, trail brake deep into the corners and get plenty of steering angle on to get the tyres working.

The car does feel a lot different to what it did before it got it's physics update but that was a long time ago now. Previously its tyres had way too much grip, and the grip didn't drop off with slip agle at all. So you could abuse the car in ways that you shouldn't have been able to. It's certainly a car that takes a lot more learning than it did in the past (same with all the group 5 really).

Indéed what you did about setting the rotation at a lower value while keeping the same lock is what I had in mind. Still haven't find the time to do that. I think the updated physics a few years ago had made the G5 xars much better, xith less grip but much more drivable. I didn't really enjoyed them before. I don't think they have changed since, I recognized the behaviour of.the capri lzst time I've driven this car, only the FFB and the default.settings gave it a really different feeling. I'll try to check this week, also other Group 5 cars. I used to drive the Fabcar and the Chevrolet Monza, hope they are still fun to drive.

Really strange I've launched Raceroom yesterday and the Grouo 5 Capri worked perfectly, the Saleen GT1 too. No more any broken behaviour I've experienced last time. I haven't changed anything, just received and installed the patch with the trucks. Maybe there was something wrong.with the former version and the patch fixed it. I'll never know but now RRE is a solid experience whichever the car. It's time for a group 5 race!

Strange. Anyway. In the meantime I've reported it and Alex has made a few tweaks to further improve the FFB on the Capri which will make it to the live game at some point soonish.

Total mistery, especially because the same session I'd raced with other cars, GT2s and GT3s, which felt amazingly good. Anyway, I'm glad everything works fine now, but I wonder whether some RRE haters experienced the same and never got back to the game. If I didn't know the game before, I would have hate these Group5s and GT1s. Unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue, as I have absolutely done nothing, except updating the title when required. Good to know the Capri is going to get some tweak for the better.
