RENNSPORT to Host Summit Event to Debut New Racing Simulator

A new simulation title from RENNSPORT will be debuted to the world at a summit event this weekend, with 100 personalities from the world of sim racing in attendance.

When RENNSPORT announced its plans to release a racing simulator earlier this year, there was understandably some scepticism from the sim community. But the project has progressed to the point where the developer is ready to showcase an early build to the world.

100 sim racing personalities from around the world have been invited to a summit event RENNSPORT is hosting. The event will take place over three days from the 27th of May to the 29th. Attendees will be able to learn more about the title directly from the developers, and will be given the opportunity to race a pre-release version the first time before sharing their impressions with the public.

A follow-up tweet from the RENNSPORT team asked Twitter if they should share gameplay footage in advance of the event, which of course garnered a positive response.

To date, very little has been shared about the upcoming title. A few stylish renders of Porsche and BMW GT3 cars in showroom mode, plus a few action shots at Hockenheim with the same cars.

Multiple members of the RaceDepartment team, including myself, will be attending the event. Be sure to check back often for news from the RENNSPORT summit and follow our Twitter and Instagram closely over the course of this weekend.

Are there specific facets of the title that you want to learn more about? Let us know in the comments below what information you're hoping to learn from the event, and we will try to incorporate it into our coverage of the event through future articles. For questions and discussions regarding the title please check out the RENNSPORT forum.

Gameplay video doesn't look bad. Track looks good, car looks good (proper dash, working slip indicator). Mirrors are the only thing I noticed that are not working at this point, but it's pre-alpha (not that it means anything nowadays) so I give it that. Handling seems decent, but we'll see how it feels. I am cautiously optimistic, but we don't know anything about content and business model. We'll see. Was there any word what game engine is Rennsport built on?

I've actually been waiting for a Gpl 2 for years

We have enough Gt3 but my interest remains the old tracks and cars from 60's 70's, the developer who dares this will do well
I'd buy GPL2 in a heartbeat but according to Wikipedia the first one was a complete failure, which is probably why we haven't seen another game with such a narrow historical focus.

The game was a commercial failure;[18][19] Andy Mahood of PC Gamer US described its sales as "abysmally poor".[18] In 2003, writer Mark H. Walker reported that "the game sold only a few thousand copies" in the United States, which he attributed to the general unpopularity of Formula One racing in the country.

He noted that its "steep learning curve kept many fans away" in European markets.[19] GameSpot's Gord Goble attributed its performance to the "combination of treacherous gameplay, sometimes glacial frame rates, and esoteric subject matter". It ultimately totaled 200,000 sales by 2004.[20]

What you see looks good. but what I really want to know is if it is a game like servivio -so fashionable these days- if so, don't count on me. I agree and join the friends who want a new GTL2, I would buy it as soon as it is announced, although I don't think it will happen.

100 sim-racing personalities?

We have 100 sim racing personalities?

Who are these people?

I could name about 3.....
count up the drivers and team leaders from the myriad of eSport leagues. They are trying to promote those names so, at some point, you WILL know more than 3.

or a lemans vintage game Le Mans from 65 to 1992 with all the cars. you can dream

GPL fan and you HAVEN"T tried the 1967 F1 mod for rF2?
Dave,
The problem is with rfactor2 you can do the 80`s F1.. thats Fun!!

but unfortunately there are hardly any tracks from the 60s and 70s to simulate an entire season, besides that the tracks that are there do not have the quality of S397 tracks

Ac have some good things and thanks to FatAlfie for his outstanding tracks
but my priority is with Rf2 because driving a car the feeling is unbeatable

Killing GT3 is such a move in this community. Guess what? If you want racing data and big names like Porsche and BMW to help sell your title, you need to add GT3. And if you want to actually make a profit, you need GT3.

The only group even attempting other avenues is Automobilista. As we have seen, the numbers are in, no one cares about racing a Porsche 962 or Lotus 49. So why would someone invest multi million dollars in any other direction? The best GT3 sim, Formula 1 sim and NASCAR sim will make money. The rest is a huuuuuge risk.

I'd say it's not so much GT3 specifically, although it often ends up as the headline, but it's customer classes.
When I've looked at the iRacing car list there is I think a maximum of 8 that were cars that were only ever used by their original manufacturer only.
Customer racing classes like GT3/GT4/TCR/Supercars/NASCAR I think it's likely much easier to get accurate data for the cars

Add to that with GT3 and GT4 both classes were developed with gentleman drivers in mind. Which makes then great classes for sim racers and esports realistically where not everyone is a pro with years of experience.

Spa66, Rouen, Hockenheim66, Brianza66(Monza), Monte Carlo66, Dijon. A couple are ISI efforts, the others 3rd party, not a complete season, but enough to get your Jones going. And there are plenty of other vintage tracks like Longford, or TigerMoth & Avus. Granted, none of those will match the rF2 laser scans(certainly the original GPL tracks don't come close), but IF GPL 2 is what you are looking for, this is pretty close.

Unreal Engine 5 as said on their website

The NFT concept can be okay if applied right. We have all bought DLC for racing sims that we never ended up driving for one reason or another. Maybe the physics were crap or maybe we were an American who bought a V8 Supercar and discovered there was nobody in our timeslot to race with. If there was a way to sell some of my unused cars on iRacing to others, this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I don't understand the irritability towards *another* GT3 sim.

Devs have tried and tried to roll out new and interesting content in the current crop of sims. You haven't bought it.

The Dallara IR01, V8 Supercar, and Stock Car BR's are the least popular cars on iRacing. The Lotus 49 and 79 don't fare much better. Just 1% of pCars 2 owners completed the IndyCar championship in career mode. Whenever we run a Group C league on Assetto Corsa, there's a massive drop-off in participation from race one to race three. I did a Ferrari F2004 league last month where just six people ran all the races.

By comparison, what constantly fills up lobbies? GT3.

200k sales for a sim, that's not bad in the late 90's though? Especially not for one that didn't really run any good on the vast majority of systems back then.

I would love a proper sim-focused game, with a good single player as well :)

EDIT: Regarding this game. Eh.
