Automobilista 2 Updated to Version 1.3.6.1

Automobilista 2 May Update 01.jpg
An update for Automobilista 2 has been released to Steam and brings significant physics improvements to many of its most popular cars.

AMS2 fans will find a number of improvements waiting for them the next time they load Steam. The sim has moved to version 1.3.6.1, which updates much of the popular content in the title to the improved physics we saw for select vehicles in the previous major update.

Last month the newer Stock Cars and Formula Ultimate vehicles received tire model physics tweaks that most players saw as an impressive step forward in the handling and feel of the cars in game, and these tweaks have now been applied to more vehicles.

Additionally, select vehicles received significant improvements outside of the tire model changes. The Cadillac DPi, Super V8, Formula Ultimate, Puma GTB and Porsche Cup were each given multiple fixes and improvements in this update.

This update follows Reiza's monthly update schedule, and in addition to the vehicle improvements it also brought a large number of fixes to the user interface, AI and tracks. The changelog for the version 1.3.5.2 to version 1.3.6.0 update and subsequent 1.3.6.1 update are listed on the next page.

The only custom files I messed with where to do with sharpness in VR and downloading the custom ffb files. You don't 'need' either.

Thinking of picking this up during the upcoming steam summer sale.... I want to support the developers and add this to my collection.

But have been seeing so many conflicting reviews in regards to fbb/physics/handling. Some reviewers said it's not sorted completely but i think i'll trust our own members here rather than youtube.

at this point in time may 2022, has ams2 left behind the shadow of PC2 and where does ams2 stand in regards to fbb/physics/handling when compared to rf2, ac and acc...?!? I'm only talking about fbb/physics and handling.( Ignore graphics, online, etc)

Do we still need to download some custom files etc like that or is ams2 now awesome and matches the big 3 on its own self...?

Thanks.
Physics and FFB are now top notch. Most of those reviews are very outdated by the last 6 months to year incremental updates to tires, FFB, differential and so on but they still appear on top of YT results because the algorithm weighs the total number of viewers more as time passes.
There will always be people who like sim x more than y but it's now more about personal preference than lack of quality in those departments from AMS2.
MP side of things needs a good revamping to finally allow the community to come together in bigger numbers for more relevant events.
If you are interested in what is happening under the bonnet you may want to listen to this

I also race ACC and in my opinion AMS2 is now an equal (it wasn't prior to the most recent updates). Its not 100% perfect but fbb and physics are excellent and I love the variety of tracks and cars.

My opinion:
By far the best simulation especially in VR, I have a Fanatec Elite which is not new, I adjust absolutely nothing in the software parameters of the sim, except in the race, I refine the FFB "on the fly", a little more, a little less than 100 according to my personal impressions. I assigned a - and a + for the FFB to two buttons on my steering wheel, in a few turns I find what seems to me to be perfect, then no need to go back to it, it's saved.
On my steering wheel I do not change any parameter, FFB on 75 if I remember correctly. Braking at the steering wheel adjustment I set it to 0 for all cars.
On the other hand, when I do lap times I sometimes adjust the car, with the settings provided, but honestly, they are well adjusted from the start, you can go straight there, you immediately have a car in your hands, that's gorgeous!
Don't hesitate to buy AMS2, if it doesn't suit you, get a refund from Steam, but don't risk missing out on this masterpiece!

Another, what seems to be great, update. Will check it out tomorrow or in a couple
of days when I can. Busy today with family and F1. Glad to read most of you love the
improvements, especially on physics. Great stuff.

Cheers.

Been drving the DPi this morning (inspired by Mike) and it felt really great on my Fanatec GT DD Pro. I wish Reiza would be permitted to apply all this 'magic' on PC2 retrospectively somehow... Reiza is showing what dedication means, extracting the maximum out of the Madness engine.

I believe this is due to the AI not having had the chance to calibrate the fuel it needs. While the default behaviour shouldn't be pitting for more fuel than needed, I think it can be circumvented by having a practice and/or quali session beforehand.
I always do qualy. Sometimes practice as well. I have done many tests and opened an issue about it in their forum. It's a known issue, apparently since PC2.

I recently found out that some cars are particularly messed up. But the AI will ALWAYS pit earlier than needed and not fully fill the tank more often than not (even when needed)

It may be by design to add to the mistakes made by AI which is too aggressive. Using a custom AI with minimal mistakes edited may help their logic.

Amazing update, nothing in sim racing comes close to AMS2 atm, especially when you drive in VR with motion and DD. Thank you once again Reiza! I hope that the next update solves the multiplayer stability issues/bugs and gives more attention to multiplayer in general.
rFactor 2 is the GOD. Nothing else
Physics and FFB are now top notch

if AMS2 physics and FFB are now top notch, rF2 is GOD.

G r e a t !
AMS2 is the best immersion sim ever. It feels so lively when in cockpit-view, not this syntetic ACC feeling. Is it real? We don t no but again, it s a great immersion
Couldn't agree more! AMS2 is gives by far "the most alive/real feeling" of all sims. The immersion is on another level. Especially with motion/vr/dd. ACC feels indeed very VERY syntetic(most of all sims imo), that's exactly what I feel too. It's really that you play an digital racegame(ACC) instead of sitting in the car(AMS2). I thought that I was alone in this until a couple of month's ago; but it seems that more and more people are starting to find out how good AMS2 actually nowadays is(and yes it wasn't as good as it is now a half year+ ago).

@TeddyBearx one year ago, or maybe even a half year ago you could have made that claim abour RF2/AMS2, but the latest patches since 1.3.2.0 and upwards made AMS2 so insanely good that you couldn't say that anymore. Reiza's development in terms of physics/FFB/handling/car feel are really on an insane level but yes, from all sims RF2 is indeed the closest. AMS2 now vs AMS2 one year ago is something that couldn't be compared to each other at all, the difference is that big (only graphics/sound wise but not car handling/feeling/ffb etc.). An another issue for me of RF2 is the mixed quality in content, some content is great (new content mostly) but many many content is just terrible/outdated. Reiza updates ALL their content constantly, all bugs/issues/handing/physics of all cars get improved over time by patches, this while S397 only seems to care to release new DLC and then forgets to update the old content to the same level. The mod's of RF2 are also not on the same level as the most recent RF2 official content and the game has even way more bugs then AMS2, so for the RF2 gives not an consistent experience at all(I feel VERY lucky if I have a good online race that doesn't have issues when I play RF2, it almost never happens because it would have been crashed for whatever reason(some download ingame/disconnect etc.)).

It's impossible to fix PC2, it's to far off. I never liked that game at all... I liked the graphics/VR/content of it but that's about to where it stops. The driving experience is just off.

I originally bought AMS2 for the VR experience, But was a bit lost with all the content and didn't spend much time in game.

Delved a little deeper once the 2022 F1 car was released, and it just occurred to me the other day that since then Ive spent the majority of my sim time in AMS2, and the more I get to know it the better it gets.

Great game, well worth the asking price.

I dont need a long talk to say : rF2 is the GOD.

It's an absolute steal, AMS2. Especially the base game and especially with the link that @Wreckoning provided. It's the best few euro's that you could spend on sim racing by far.

You don't need custom files, BUT you need to choose Default+ profile instead of Default profile and try to adjust your for example Fanalab settings(or other app from other wheel brand) to your likings. You won't be disappointed with the fbb/physics/handling, if this is not the case then I would be really surprised. But don't try the demo, it's terrible and cannot be compared with the actual game(Reiza/Renato should remove that stupid demo).

Reiza did get support from some of the leads from SMS to improve the physics of AMS2. They fixed a number of issues with the engine too, like LSD working closer to reality and the tires aren’t as floaty.

The GT1 are absolute joy to drive in this game. Can’t wait for them to update it to the new tires.

The GT1 cars already have updated tires.

  • Further tire carcass & tread adjutments for GTE / GT3 / GT4 / GT1 / DPi / P1 / F-Ultimate Gen1 / Gen2
AMS2 is the only sim I'm driving these days, but I am sticking with the updates cars (i.e., those listed above, the 2019-2022 stock cars, and the SuperV8).

There are a few more cars aswell.

Revised tires for classes on this list:

This thread will be updated when cars get revised in the future.

I just can't believe all the "physics" change from one micro update to another.
and if you check all the updates on physics logs is just hillarious, it's like they never actually finished any car, it's either a joke or I just don't get it.
I understand that there have been improvements

Is there a bug when online qualifying allows the adjustment of TC and ABS as normal, then in race no adjustment of either is allowed nor are they even working...? I was in two different lobbies and cars yesterday and this happened in both sessions...
