In January of 2007, one of the founding RaceDepartment members and front-wheel drive alien Attila Domján started a forum thread asking fellow members to share pictures of their sim rigs. For most of my life Ive driven with my trusted Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Wheel. Was fun, worked, lasted. Every setup is a nice setup.

The thing is: The more we drive, the more we tend to invest in our setup. The more we drive,... It's a cycle. And we love driving in cycles.

Nice article, amazing looking back at old pictures and how far sim racing has come. Every year keeps getting better even for console players like myself.

Late to the party but I will now post my 20 year old rig on the 'show us your rig thread'

Ahhh I had that flag too. Nice memories.

This was my rig would have looked like in the 90s. GP, GP2

A Z , . haha that's definitely a "show me you're a 90s sim racer without telling me you're a 90s sim racer" thing

Great!! I have my IBM Model M keyboard from early 1990 still in use, but only for playing shooters. Have 3 original packaging IBM M keyboards + repait kit for spare :)

You’re saying there will still be cars around?
In museums and collectors garages... and the sim rigs will be more expensive than those lol

August 2031 Logitech releases G931X as an all-in-one rig with 360° motion sensors for maximum immersion

For a fraction of Fanatec's Bentley GT3 wheel price
The G931X will still be the good old G25 with a new look and no belt:whistling:

Nothing fancy. G29+ebay handbrake, el cheapo Piranha seat that comes apart if you apply the brake too hard. The screen is an old Sony Bravia 42". To me this is a huge improvement. Until 3 months ago I was racing with a keyboard. AC and BeamNG were somewhat do-able that way, with content manager you can adjust the steering speed to sort-a work. With BeamNG you can change the linearity of the key pressed.
