PC2 The Project CARS Survey: Have Your Say!

Project CARS developers Slightly Mad Studios have launched a sizable survey aimed at gathering opinions about their current title and its in development sequel, Project CARS 2, allowing everyone to voice their opinion on the direction the franchise should take.

The survey is open to anyone who wishes to partake regardless of WMD membership status.

Although a smash hit in the sales charts, PCARS received quite a bit of bad press upon it's release from the sim racing community, and deservedly so, with many feeling a title that had been in development for such a long time shouldn't have been launched with such a sizable number of glitches, bugs and an all round unpolished feel that the title had on initial release.

It appears that the World of Mass Development community driven project is looking to learn from past mistakes and is opening up to a wider audience with this survey.

How do you feel PCARS should develop the game (and sequel) going forward? Leave your comments in the section below!

I didn't see any comments about the terribly aggressive A.I. ; I might have missed something in these comments.
For me, the physics and the A.I. are the major problems. I lose all sense of immersion when I get hit in the back and I see A.I. cars going off track on both sides and speeding through the grass without any loss of grip. If they could fix that and the physics, I think it would be an outstanding game.

Youre wrong.
Its a Sim as in iRacing, RF2, otherwise plz bring proofs and facts (not some random statements) that it isnt.
To be honest I have had enough of your almost fanatical fanboyism. Why don't you provide the proof that Pcars is as much as a sim as RF2, GSCE etc? Come on, give us the proof and the facts.
And don't say some paid consultant part time racing driver said so.

I dont need to proof it, you need to. You claim its not a Sim. As said you claim, you need to bring proofs / facts to support your claims. Also an admin warned you about this behaviour.

Come on. I said it is a sim, just not as serious as RF2, GSCE etc. (3 classes of sim, Sim, Simcade, arcade) Pcars is in the middle class. You need to bring proofs/facts to support your claims. Come on, give us proofs/facts. And stop trying to bring admin in on this discussion. As you can see from the poll and the replies on here, no one regards it as a serious sim.

(cue Neuer31 looking for old posts to string out the argument but he brings no proof that the game is a real sim, but I bet he reverts to verbal abuse)

I voted no, because, I look at the feedback it has had, and it hasn't been positive. With no "demo" to test to see if you like it, I will not part with my cash. The survey is naff. It should ask "Do you own pCars". and If not, why? That would be a good starting point, find out "why" people didn't by pCars in the first place, before planning another down the drain sequal. Again, this is only my opinion as I have never tried it.

I strongly disagree in EVERY point
PCARS is consider to have one of the best physic in Sim Racing - especially their tire model is high end.
Just who considers Pcars to have one of the best physics models in Sim racing? Please enlighten us.

I voted yes because, even if it is not the best this or the best that, Like Pcars (1) there will be enough goodies in there to make me happy, at least some of the time. :)
It will be good enough that it has to be part of my library, for those time when I have to drive a convertible Zonda at Oulton Park in the sunset.

@Graham Laing It does sound like that doesn't it. But it's just a natural response. I get fed up of him saying "prove it" so I thought for once I would do the same. I am sure we will both get over it when we grow up.
ps, it's not bickering, it's a discussion and for your info Graham, we both say it's a sim. OK?;)

+1. Every time I try to pull some laps, the brainless AI has me exiting out in frustration. It has the potential to be a fine game, but jeez the AI keeps me away.

Voted No.
I bought PCars for 2 reasons:
1. They kept saying they would release it on WiiU. Although I knew they would probably downgrade the graphics etc to fit in the WiiU's lesser capability, I really wish such a good looking realistic racing title to be release on this platform, because I really wish more people would join and understand the charm of WiiU (many people back then still had the misconception that WiiU had worse hardware specs than X360/PS3). So I chose to support SMS.
2. I was searching for pre-release build videos, and found EmptyBox praising the AI in this video:
At that time I was a little bit unsatisfied with AC's AI, and PCars looked like a decent-looking game with good AI. I thought I could buy PCars, and even if the online community died after a few years, I could still have a nice-looking great sp experience.

For me, both turned out to be not so true. To make things worse, the following patches are not providing too much improvement despite the gigantic version number (I think FFB may have improved quite a bit but I still prefer the JackSpade tweaks). I'm not going to list what I don't like about PCars or what I think done wrong. As I speak I'm spending more time in PCars than in other sims because the career mode provides me some kind of guideline of what car/track combo to play. I'm trying my best to not get annoyed by the flaws in PCars, and trying to enjoy myself as much as possible instead of going on forums complaining. Am I enjoying PCars? Yes. But will I support SMS in the future? No.

I'll buy it if Ian Bell shuts the hell up. I've grown tired of his hard sell approach that eventually leads to disappointment. I'm not intending to have a go at him, but I would just rather the product do the talking for a change, as in put the effort into developing a good game instead trying to sell it to us.
A net pal took issue with some fundamentals of the game on their official forums. Nothing personal, just objective criticism. The strong-arm tactics of Bell meant anyone who wouldn't bow to his feet and praise the glory of pCARS and him was banned. No such thing as constructive criticism with him.

I remember posting a Facebook message on the pCARS page about it being an unnecessary game to buy due to AC having more interesting content and better physics and somehow wasn't on the page the next day. They should call him Ian Bellend...

I voted "NO". Because they deceived the community on many fronts. Firstly they said Pcars would be the Sim of all sims. Well I think we all know that was a bit of a an untruth. And secondly they deceived us about what was going to be in the so called sim of all sims. Proper physics, proper pitstops with full animation, proper damage, proper pit lane full control of the car etc etc etc.
Once bitten, twice shy. Not a chance in hell. It was a proper mess and still is to a degree. Everyone in the sim racing community knows it is not classed as a proper sim in the same sense as RF2, GSCE and Iracing, just look at how most of the serious sim racers just diss it and ignore it even here in the RD race club.

Please don't take this the wrong way Andy, because I value your opinion and you were, in fact, right about the issues on release. I'm on xbox and see this thing very differently. We literally had nothing before. Nothing. Shift2 - please - that was un-drivable without hours of pain. Project Cars can't be compared in our case because it was old vs. new gen. Also, the wheels got massively better. Yet, games like Forza and Formula One just don't come close. Oddly, what pCARS has shown me is why PC players aren't too keen on babysitting console guys, but let me ask you something I have always wondered -- is there a sort of PC player's "immediate discredit" because a game is also available on console? I ask because you seemed open to liking the game at first. But I hardly know anyone that is halfway serious about this stuff (hard to find on xbox, granted) that does not like pCARS on the console. Forza6 sells in droves because of one reason -- looks and online stability. So along with the "unconscious bias" question, I'd ask another if you don't mind -- can they ever port a true SIM on this gen consoles?

(It will be interesting to see if Assetto fans abandon it when it comes to console).

Yeah, so I've since learnt after my first post in this thread. I done a quick google of his name and read how treated the likes of your pal. It doesn't make for good reading.

I pre-ordered the game but didn't get to play it for the first three months of it's release due to new PC dramas being sorted, so I missed a lot of the S-storm. But that said, I am one of many that have been subjected to his tripe since he first really come to the fore with the release of rF1 and tried to float the idea of punters paying for mods. The idea was to bring all the top modding teams together and he was going to manage the whole show and payment system. So yeah, as you could imagine quite a few of us have been exposed to his tactics for a while now, and since learning how he handled himself post pCars release. It might be advisable for him to step away from the gaming industry altogether.
