Reveal number four from the upcoming Ready to Race DLC for Assetto Corsa - presenting something slightly different in the form of the Toyota Celica ST185 WRC contender.

We fans are by now well aware that the next car pack from Kunos Simulazioni will be the 10 car strong 'Ready to Race' DLC, designed specifically for fans of racing vehicles and containing a nice mix of modern and historic machinery.

One of the more surprising inclusions into the pack comes in the form of the hugely successful WRC specification Toyota Celica ST185 featured in this article. With Assetto Corsa not particularly known for its loose surface simulation prowess, it is perhaps a little surprising to some to see such an iconic World Rally Championship car finding its way into the game as official paid content. Of course we had the venerable Audi Quattro as free content a few weeks ago, and many at the time thought that would be the beginning of the end for studio released rally spec cars.... not so according to Kunos.

With killer good looks and one of the best paint jobs in motorsport, the Celica could well be a real treat to behold once the 'Ready to Race' DLC pack goes live on Thursday.

Alongside the images revealed by Kunos today, the Italians are keeping up the tradition of writing a few short words about the car, which can be read below:

The Toyota Celica ST185 is Toyota's most successful rally car, winning the WRC Driver's Championship in 1992, and the WRC Manufacturer's and Driver's Championships in both 1993 and 1994.

In order to meet the Group A competition's homologation requirements, 5,000 GT-Four RC production versions of the Celica were manufactured, starting from September 1989.

The Toyota Celica ST185 made its debut at the Monte Carlo Rally, the opening round of the 1992 World Rally Championship series, but it wasn't until mid-season did it then become successful

Ready to Race DLC Contents:
  • Audi R8 LMS 2016
  • Audi R18 e-tron Quattro
  • Audi TT Cup 2016
  • Audi TT RS (VLN)
  • Lotus 3-Eleven
  • Maserati MC12 GT1
  • McLaren 570S
  • McLaren P1 GTR
  • Toyota Celica ST185 Turbo
  • Toyota TS040 Hybrid

Alongside the new DLC pack will come the version 1.14 game update which looks set to contain a number of new and improved features. As a little teaser Kunos have revealed some of the following changes will be included in the new build release:
  • Added wind algorithm
  • Added AI Aggression selection
  • More AI differences within a single lap to generate more battles
  • Added AI wing setup variations
  • New AI algorithms for understeer detection and downshifting
  • Improved Downshift Protection
  • Updated Steam statistic reader to synchronize steam achievement

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation designed by Kunos Simulazioni and is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The 'Ready to Race' DLC is scheduled to launch on Thursday 18th May.

You think that adding ballast or restricting power in your gameplay options is the same as Kunos getting permission for a 'stage' version of a car?
Yes and putting a 600 bp engine with AWD-transmission in a Ferrari 250 GTO and driving it with GT3-cars seems not a problem for Turn 10 either plus adding some ridiculous rims, paintings and custom spoilers on it. But it´s not possible to lower the performance in Forza, what Kunos is doing with this weight- and restrictor-stuff actually:whistling:.

If they really want to, they can sandbag the sprint version to be roughly as fast as the C9 or reduce the restrictor for the C9 so its faster at something. Doing the sprint version would probably need to go through approvals with a new model which are more work for them. They won't do it at the end considering even having a default BoP is not possible for them.

Minor or major differences won't matter to them, they will still keep tossing out random cars that do not go well with the existing content. The Long Tail 962C goes quite well with C9, IMHO despite it is not the best as C9 is indeed slow.

All and all, so many classes in the game are just a random collection of cars with fairly large performance discrepancy in them that really made them not fun to race. I bet the Toyota and Audi LMP1 will be much slower than the 919 since Kunos never have any sort of default BoP in their cars.
They did step versions of other cars, without doing any 3d changes to it ,like the 458 step3 or even fantasy stuff like the Exos step1.... All it takes is to add more downforce to the c9 and call it step1, this would be at least something you could drive on low speed tracks. Anyway there is a mod of that, someone did, so at least that one works :D

They didn't use specific BoPs i'd say, they modeled the cars in some abstract way. Otherwise cars wouldn't be so far off regarding certain characteristics (Merc again a good example).
I like balancing of cars within one class (not matching two classes together), my post was a reaction to people stating that "BoP is unrealistic, cars are ment to have different performances, etc", while exactly that (BoP) is already applied in AC. And the cars are not used any more...the Nissan GT-R GT3, the SLS GT3, the R8, Z4, MP-12C GT3 are all not used any more. Only currently used GT3 cars from AC are the McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo and Porsche (apart from some nobody amateur races). Even "between generation" cars like the Bentley or the newer GT-R are really struggling to keep up in most GT3 races.
Real races don't normally BoP cars per race, they BoP them before the season, that's it. Only if one car is vastly off/over pace, it get's a BoP mid-season. Mercedes AMG GT dominates GT3 since it's out, no matter if we talk ADAC GT Masters, Blancpain or GT300...no BoP changed that.
"nobody amateur races" lol... But to be honest... whatever. I'll only say that I don't agree with what you're saying.

I find astonishing that people claim that Kunos screwed that car, when the only mistake is the black stuff on the rear window.

Just pointing out some issues, no one is claiming its screwed. And just because you can't see the issues, doesn't mean they're not there.

That being said, I'll still enjoy it and still looking forward to the release. Just sad that these inconsistencies are seen even on newer releases, and most of the Kunos cars are spot on.

Not true. Look at the location of the fuel port, the proportions of body in front of the front wheels, and the shape and size of the panel gap of the rear hatch. Hopefully these pics are from an early WIP model.

If we are talking about proportions, we need pics with the same exact angle, FOV, and distance in order to judge.

For the other points, fair enough.

Please mod delete this. It´s off-topic:laugh:

GT3-class is a bit out of balance atm. McLaren 650S is clearly dominant in GT3 after one update slowed the Ferrari down, which was very dominant before. The AMG is not competitive.
wrong, the absolute OP is the Audi r8 lms ultra, but this is going to be ded like they killed the 12c when the new mclaren was released.
For the AMG is not really off pace, it requires a setup to be right, it has very sensitive aero, so the setup window to get it right is very narrow, but for pace is very close to the ferrari or lambo, or 650s, the audi is the only one is faster everywhere.

Thing is, it shouldn't be close to them, it should be better. I would be even fine if it had the same pace as the McL and the Ferrari, but if you currently check RSR timings - where you can expect pretty much perfect setups, since they are world records - the Merc is off-pace on most tracks, and that's pretty unrealistic. It doesn't seem to have the straight-line oomph it has IRL..

RSR is not trustable, it stopped being a relaible source long long time ago, most of aliens, do not even run the rsr app and commit to post their laptimes

Most WRs today are crap. I can "fix" the AMG in a day for you if you want.
