WRC 9 is just around the corner, and one of the new locations set to make an appearance in the game is the New Zealand Rally - with some first preview imagery from the states now out in the public domain.

Set to release on console and PC in September this year, with next gen console release slated for a little while afterwards, the ninth instalment of the WRC game series (can you believe we are on number 9 already?!?) looks to be shaping up rather nicely over at KT Racing - so much so that the studio have decided to release some preview footage from an early build version of the title - and already it looks fantastic.

As per usual, the upcoming game enjoys the official licence of the FIA World Rally Championship, this time taking the opportunity to recreate the 2020 season that is currently on hold, and as such returning favourites such as the Safari Rally in Kenya, Rally Japan and the featured Rally New Zealand.

“Roads in New-Zealand are amongst the most beautiful and the most appreciated in the Championship’s history.” tells Benoît Gomes, Lead Level Designer at KT Racing.​

“Famous for its fast chains of turns and a sustained pace rhythm, along with breath-taking landscapes, Rally New-Zealand truly offers a particular experience. A long preparation work allowed us to replicate, as closely as possible, the luxuriant vegetation, the light and unique ocean views, as well as the road’s topography and surfaces, mainly composed of gravel. We’re convinced that players will enjoy taking up this challenge as much as we did in WRC 9.” concludes Benoît Gomes.​

I had the same problem with my wheel (G25) I found that by unplugging it and then replugging it worked, there may be more issues with a different wheel of course.
I also found that it defaulted to keyboard until I deleted other inputs.

I just seems like sloppy coding.

That wouldn't be surprising. This as the lack of attention to detail is, almost scary with this being an official game.

Are any of you dialing the wheel sensitivity up in game? I feel like the initial wheel response is very sluggish. Also, is it recommended to match wheel rotation in your device software and in game, or let the game soft lock? Thanks!

I haven't changed the sensitivity but yesterday I tried 540° and I agree it felt much better. Maybe have a footer with the sensitivity later.

Yes, for a wheel with 540° (the value most real WRC cars have), the default sensitivity is way too low. For gamepads, it's way too low, too.

I've tried +2 and that seemed to be my sweet spot. But now it's time for some DTM 2020 action

Well, I think I've sorted things out. Had to unplug my SHH shifter. Game thought it was a game pad. Then set resolution back to 1920x1080 (was using 5760x1080 for triples). I unplugged my wheel as Kenny suggested and restarted. Controls/ffb changes are saving now. Also, I've set my wheel in sim commander to 540 and matched that in game. Sensitivity slider at 1 or 2 seems to feel pretty good for me.

Does anyone know if it's possible to mod your own nationalities into the game? Because the selection in the game is slim and I don't want to pick a generic like "European".

I found that setting my Fanatec CSW 1 to automatic and ingame 540, sensitivity to 1 and saturation to 67 works great and feels awesome !

This is better than wrc8, there are 2 things that don't convince me, pendulum effect and it has less acceleration speed, plus there is no more downforce change in the menu. I hope it was modified by the genius: AgentHeX 0007

For those that read my woes a couple of weeks ago, I've managed to fix it, turns out it was my G29 H-Shifter causing it, unplugged it now runs Ultra settings locked at 60fps. Very happy!

This is better than wrc8, there are 2 things that don't convince me, pendulum effect and it has less acceleration speed, plus there is no more downforce change in the menu. I hope it was modified by the genius: AgentHeX 0007

downforce options were removed in WRC8 by kylotonn some time back denny001

The only thing I complain about in this game is that you cant map the navigation and menu items to my Fanatec steering wheel !

Worked fine in WRC 8 though !
