The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

@HoiHman I have tried all your suggestions but no luck.

- Tested codemastersalt provider and changed telemetry port 20778
- Fresh simfeedback installation
- Checked if other applications were listening on 20777 just to be sure (none found)
- Nothing is running except Dirt Rally and simfeedback
- Removed power for my sfx servo drivers so there would be no risk of EMI

I'm gonna remove the game again and reinstall one more time..

@HoiHman nope :(

this is my xml structure:

XML:
<motion_platform>
   <udp enabled="true" extradata="1" ip="127.0.0.1" port="20778" delay="1" />
</motion_platform>

Same result. The first data comes in fast, after a couple of seconds the lag starts and then it stays at 4 seconds delay. I really don't get it. CPU behaviour is normal and nothing else is started except dirt rally 2 and simfeedback.

Is there a way to add logging to your dll to see what's coming in? Is the code available?

To the guys that ordered from SKYE and Kinetic how long did it take before you received your parts? The communication is really lacking after the order.lol

Here are the shipping times on my order (to USA West Coast):

Servo Motors (Mia Chu / Master Jiang 3SMT <miaju@foxmail.com>)
Ordered on Feb 21, 2019
Delivered on Feb 28,2019 (7 days)

Aluminum Extrusions (Kinetik MSystem <info@haec-aluminium.de>)
Ordered on Feb 21, 2019
Delivered on March 7, 2019 (14 days)

Bearing parts (Amy / NTL Bearing <amy@ntl-bearing.com>)
Orderd on Feb 21, 2019
Delivered March 5, 2019 (12 days)

This was all pre-COVID so I imagine things could take longer now.

Hey everyone,

I'm doing another small group buy of my fully-assembled SFX-100 shields. Please PM me if you would like to get one from this batch. Of course you are also welcome to fabricate your own - the design is open source and available on my GitHub page.

Anybody had the profiles take 3 weeks? I got a email from dhl saying they sent the information but that's it and that was on the 4th.

And I just got my order from SKYE and no motors:mad: but I paid for them.

Took 3-4 weeks for my profiles. I think it's the same for everyone.

As for SKYE when I received all my parts there was only 3 motor/servo. Then realized that the link for the tracking number actually contained 3 tracking numbers because there was 3 packages. Got the 4th servo/motor 2 days later.

My motors from Skye also showed up a week later. My FedEx delivery showed up with 2 of 3 packages, but it did show one was delayed. Apparently it missed a plane in Japan, and that particular flight out of Japan only comes every several days. I called FedEx to have it tracked.

I just got my opensfx working yesterday. Thanks to all the great information out there, everything worked first try! I ended up using the item24 profile because my order from kinetik was taking so long (I ordered in feb). That said, I also just received my kinetik order. So, I have a set of Kinetik profile, inserts, and tnuts that I dont plan on using. I'd like to get back what I paid for them, but if anyone in the US is planning on ordering from kinetik, ill sell you these. Might save weeks/months of wait time.

Where were you a few weeks ago? lol This all started because I found someone that had the printed parts and wasn't going to use them.
