Our next Rally is open for sign-up.
This time, we step up to the top end of the power bracket, the Group B monsters.

We are running another of our Tribute Rallys, where we recognize past and present Rally Drivers and the cars they were most famous with. This time, we salute the great Walter Rohrl, from Germany, most famous for his brilliant driving in the Group B Audi Quattro S1 during the 70's and 80's.
He has won two WRC titles, and is still actively involved in Motor Racing as a test driver with Porsche.

The Audi S1 is one of the fastest of the Group B era, so it will be a severe test to our driving skill and patience. Stages have been chosen to be mostly faster flowing ones to take advantage of the Audi power.

We have included the famous Pikes Peak climb, to re-live the victory by Rohrl / Audi in 1987.
We strongly recommend that drivers test this Stage before the rally, especially if you have never driven it in RSRBR before. It can be treacherous in places and the Pacenotes are also dodgy in some spots.
It is an exciting Stage though and presents a fun challenge.

We will use REDUCED damage, and Good Weather for this one, the Group B cars provide sufficient challenge and we want drivers to get the best possible experience from this car.

DRIVER BRIEFING NOTES:

1. This car is typical of the Group B era. It is 4WD, very fast, with "lively" handling. Patience, self control, and a light right foot will be essential to control this one. If you respect the car, it will yield very fast times.

2. RBR Pacenotes are designed for default cars, Normal conditions and Good weather. Please remember to adjust your speeds to suit this car.

3. Tyre selections are the drivers responsibility. If you use the automatic tyre selection option in RSRBR2011, please beware that sometimes it may give you the wrong tyre for the conditions. Always double check your tyres, it is critical, especially when changing to Snow Stages.

If requests are made for any additional timezones, or changes to Start times to better suit your local needs, we will try to include them ( but within the Monday/Tuesday periods).

Thanks to Damien for another classic Banner.

Good luck all, and hope you enjoy this return to the wonderful Group B era of Rallying.

A couple of video's to set the scene:

And a little driving lesson in the Audi with Walter to see how it's done. Easy isn't it.

And if you are really keen, Pikes Peak coverage with Walter Rohrl:

Senad Subasic (mfodor) - EUX

Last time we did Pikes Peak, it was in the Peugeot 205 T16. The car died on me halfway up, I'm guessing I over-revved it. If anyone practices the stage, and notices the same problem with this car, do let me know :D

Ah yes, i've been hoping to continue improving at RBR, and i feel a nice sensible 4wd Audi should help this process...
I must have missed the nice sensible Audi Ross, sorry, you'll have to make do with this one instead. :p

can someone tell me how to make it to the top with a group B car?
I always kill the engine long before halfway trough this stage.

My Pikes Peak test run for the Rally was veeery slow Magnar, but maybe try short shifting and keeping it in higher gears, this thing has so much power that it probably pulls away ok in a higher gear anyway. Try to minimise over-revving it.
Since we are using reduced Damage this time, hopefully that might help.
