In races, AI uses what is called Catchup. That is how Hamilton did a 1:14.1. Only way to turn that off is if you have the PC version of the game and use a mod that disables Catchup.

Oh great! All this time I thought the AI cars are were increasing their performance on the later part of the race because of fuel getting burned off (cars getting lighter). I have PS3 so I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Racing in year 1 of 7 year career in Lotus. Difficulty Med but ABS off, TCS off. Madcatz MC2 Wheel. XBox 360.

I found the lower gear ratios are important for acceleration out of slow corners.
Also using the front wing adjustment in cockpit when on primes.

PS am loving this game and all the help from those posting here.
Check out Cadmuss too on Youtube with his "F1 2010 lets play career mode on expert" for more tips and entertaining race commentary.

Yeah im in my sixth year won 5 wdc obviously haha. Can sorta see how i've progressed when i look back on it i started at lotus on easiest level and didnt even win every race only now i've put it to legend i can do pretty well most tracks i've only ever played career this was the first track i even tried time trail. Love the game just joined mclaren and tool button has r and d focus on intermediate up to hockenhiem still haven't even got a fast throttle setting yet makes it a bit more of a challenge i guess. And started to do full race weekends with full races and tires and fuel cant wait for the new ones. And whats this i read on here about bugs in the game? What as they? Ps3

Managed a 1:15:272 using OP setup with Toro Rosso, then managed a 1:15:072 during the race, all aids on except auto brake using a contoller. I'm not fully confident in driving without ABS or TCS just yet.

I am on basic mode so not to sure how well this setup is but give it a try and see how it goes.
