What's that? It's the last race of the year! With the two week break for Christmas and the New Year, let's do something fast and frantic -- it's Barbagallo Raceway near Perth, Australia. A short track that's definitely easy to learn, but hard to master

Welcome to the Assetto Corsa racing club! This is the place to be for relaxed, friendly racing and our events are open to everybody from rookies to the seasoned pros. You will always find people around your level to battle with, so jump on in! If you need any help the don't hesitate to ask on TeamSpeak... there's no such thing as a stupid question!

A message to all Drivers

If you run off track, you have to check to see that its clear before you re enter the track. Do not just keep the gas pinned and pull back on track.

When entering the track from the pits, stay off the racing line until you are up to speed. Do not race on your out lap, let other drivers by. On re-entering the track stay off the racing line until you are up to race speed and do not block any fast approaching car.

Golden Rule

If you hit somebody off the track and carry on like nothing happened, you take the risk of being banned for 30 days.
Instead, you should always wait for the affected drivers, and that way you can be 100% sure you will not get a ban.

Track limits

No more than 2 wheels over the white/yellow line without a lift of the gas please.
You will be penalized if you break our rules

A little shy to ask this...but...is there a particular reason that I find the Nissan and the SCG easier to drive? Is it because of the amount these vehicles oversteer or understeer and these characteristics make the car feel "safe"? I guess, because of this uncertainty/ignorance, I am unsure of what I'm feeling when I test cars and I'd like to be able to make a more knowledgeable assessment.

A more general question... Why do you like the car(s) you like? I've noticed there tends to be particular preferences week after week. Is it because you like a brand, the sound, or just living a distant (probably never going to happen

I am one of the very few here that has only ever raced one car, the Audi R8. It's an oversteery bastard with a difficult default setup, that is hard to drive in technical tracks and not quite the fastest on low downforce tracks - why did I choose it? Well, when I signed up for my first RD race, I had been hotlapping the R18 for a few months, so I figured I'd just keep driving the same brand.

Why do I still drive it? Because I've grown fond of it, I have become way better at "understanding" what it does at any given time, and because with some effort it is possible to get quite stable setups - and by now I have over 22k kilometers on it, so there's some sunk cost involved.

(Out of curiosity, it would be great to hear other answers to this question!)

No need to be shy about it, it's perfectly normal to prefer a certain car

The GT-R and SCG are fairly understeery cars. They have a natural tendency to under rotate in the corners, and as such they generally are best driven smoothly. They are easy to learn, but hard to master driving fast with.

The 650s and R8 in particular are the total opposite: they want to over rotate, and that needs to be managed as the race goes on. The R8 also has a really non-linear feeling in its steering. They are a handful at the best of times, and you certainly need to be ready to catch a slide. The 650s, for example, is not as fast in a straight line as the GT-R or SCG, but if you're brave in the corners, you can make up the time. I'd say these are less forgiving to the newer driver, they take some getting used to.

So it's really what you're up for, we've had people win in the GT-R (cc @Aksu), we've had people in the 650s. It's all about finding the right car for your driving style, and not forcing it.

Thanks, Chris. I suppose I'm more of a "smoother" driver and prefer to not take risks in corners. Makes sense that I'd like the SCG knowing this now. I suppose, choosing a car, at least in the sim world and club races, all comes down to how it feels. If you're frustrated why bother driving it? That's the beauty of all of this!

@Luca Badin thanks for the great answer! I hope others answer as well and in the spirit of that, I'll answer my own question

I know that I will probably never get the opportunity to drive a GT3 car let alone any other class. This may be due to the lack of proper motorsport enthusiasm here in the US

that has me feeling this way. So I drive what I drive because I may never get the experience IRL and really I just. love. driving.

Hey! Sorry, no idea, but it sounds like it's crashing. I'd just change your FFB manually through Content Manager.
