Grand Prix Legacy Manager II

Unfortunately we weren't quite able to keep up with the pace of the top teams this season. Gonzalez did good to score some important points early season, driving the car to results were it shouldn't have been based on performance alone. With the new car now in use, we hope to soon be able to close the gap again, though we expect especially next season to be a difficult one.

Round 1 finished. Only 2 teams need to sign a second driver. Some still haven't given me their buys for the launch of the new season.

I find it amazing how the ages of drivers have changed so dramatically from the 50s to today. Like, if someone signs Fagioli for the full time and he keeps doing well, he'll be 59 by the end of his contract.
For reference, that's like if 2020 was Damon Hill's final year in F1

And you've picked a driver that came in to F1 really late (at 32). Senna was also born in 1960, so that would be a 36-year career for him. Also, imagine a 43 season career for Max ending in 2057

It all stems from the year F1 started - 1950. The world had just come out of an horrific 6 year war which had devastated Europe (the main continent for this type of motor racing) and killed millions of young men. So really, there weren't as many men (because why let women race) of a young age ready to jump into the top level of racing. Most of the drivers were all pre-war racing veterans who at least knew how to drive a car, and there hadnt really been enough time for junior series's to start up and bring along a new generation. It took a long while for drivers in their 20s making a debut to become regular, and older drivers rarely get looked at nowadays. It's become "if you're fast enough, your old enough", and once drivers hit like 25 and haven't made the jump to F1, they begin to look elsewhere because it's like "you've had your chance to find a seat and you didn't. Off to GTs or Indycar for you". Drivers need to prove themselves in their teens or someone younger and faster will get that seat before you.

As expected a rather difficult season with the new car, but we could already see first improvements late in the season. Gonzalez did a splendid job securing a podium a the Belgian GP, hopefully we can build on that next year.
