Reiza Studios have today deployed the first official Early Access build for their new Automobilista 2 racing simulation.

It's here folks! A new build of the much anticipated Automobilista 2, now publicly available in Steam Early Access has landed!

Release announcement in full:

Automobilista 2 is finally here! We are very excited to be able to share what we have been working on all this time.

Please note that as an Early Access release the game is not yet complete - Time Trial & Championship mode are currently disabled but should become available over the first few weeks of Early Access.

Below are some further known common issues and limitations of:this initial release:
  • UI & HUD are still deep in development, and currently feature the essentials for all game modes to work - this will be expanded with new options & features over the course of EA, with same pages being completely redesigned.
  • Early Access is exclusively in English for the time being; Localization to other languages should only be added in time for the full Release.
  • Driver names, suits and helmets are generic for all series as the whole system is being reestructured (also part of requirements for a revamped Opponents settings and the Custom Championship Tool);
  • All 3D driver animations are still placeholders and may not fully fit the car yet;
  • Other Car-related 3D animations have not been exported which mean suspension arms are graphically static, damage is very limited and wiper are not operational
  • Some series still have WIP or placeholder liveries - these will be updated or expanded over the course of Early Access

The are many other substantial updates to every front of the game planned for Automobilista 2 throughout Early Access and beyond - we´ll be posting regular updates to inform what´s coming up the pipeline as we progress.

FORCE FEEDBACK

Default FFB settings are designed for Logitech G2X series - if you have wheels with stronger motors you should scale those settings down to avoid clipping.

A more detailed guide for FFB settings will follow up soon.

FOR THOSE WITH AMS2 BETA INSTALLED

Upon this release AMS2 BETA owners will have two AMS2 apps in their Steam library - the Beta and this Main Release.

Both apps will be the same as of tonight and for the next few days until the next AMS2 Beta update (which may or may not be also deployed to AMS2 Main depending on the importance of the updates).

If you are an exclusively offline racer there is no reason to install the Main Release of AMS2 - you may continue using exclusively AMS2 Beta. If however you plan to race online or run Time Trial mode when it becomes available with non-Beta users, you must install the Main Release.

If you have further questions about AMS2, please make sure to check on our AMS2 FAQ here

Remember folks, although the simulation has moved from closed beta status, the title is still very much in Early Access state. Don't load up expecting a fully realised and finished title just yet, but I'm sure you will agree with me that the road to V1 status is going to be an exciting journey...

AMS 2 is available now via Steam Early Access.

Having trouble with the game? Post a new thread in the AMS 2 sub forum here at RaceDepartment and our exceptional community will help you out!

I've only played for 9 hours so far and am enjoying it immensely. A lot more content than I was expecting and pretty good at that. I went in with an open mind and haven't been disappointed. For the doubters and knockers IMO it is nothing like PC2 but a stand alone in it's own right. To rubbish a game or sim after only a few hours or less of play again IMO is irresponsible. There is so much going on in this sim that it will take some time work it all out. Sure the in house wheel settings need some adjustment but you have to take into account that everyone has different opinions on which are best. What works for you does not necessarily work for someone else. The graphics whilst good do still need crisping up a tad but that will come as will more content, better physics and I'm sure the other items that are being highlighted will be rectified. I seem to remember ACC being slated right left and centre when launched and that was supposed to have been a complete sim. Look where that is now, Not everyone in sim racing are hard core perfectionists. I respect their opinions But I look for other things in a sim, for me despite not having a career mode AMS2 is already way ahead of PC2 and will only get better with time I hope. IMO this is where PC2 should have been and it's still only EA. Well done Reiza and thanks for your efforts so far. Keep at it and you will be rewarded-

Okay, I'm on this guys' team! LOL:D

I noticed the Puma GTB and an AJR having a bit of a… shall we say… “Flintstones issue” in the trackside replay cameras. Not a complaint at all for where we’re at early in the EA phase. I just wanted to mention it because it can be a bit funny once you notice it. :)

Hi,
i got it yesterday and played it until 3 AM. Two words, no regrets. :)

First of all, it worked immediatly with my DD1, no configuration required.
The DD1 does not work with PC2, you have to use it in CSW compatibility mode so i can't compare directly but the AMS2 ffb is better no doubt.
It is great in fact very lively and brings a lot of informations.

It looks less cartoonish (still a little bit but i should tweak my tv) than PC2 but the cars look better in PC2.

It sounds really great as expected.

I tried the Ultima, the sprint, the V8 and a formula. As the ffb is very different than PC2 no comparaison is possible IMO but they all feel fun and realistic enough. The Ultima is a beast (700hp, 950kgs) you have to be light on throttle.

The only bad point i noticed is that when you slipp it is scripted (noticed it with the V8). Probably the physic was not good enoug and they have choosen to do it in this way. It's like having an assistance to slides.

The IA is great, i just lowered the agressivity.

The UI is very effective, many graphic elements must be reworked IMO (especially the cars).

I had a lot of fun and i'm confident for the futur.

Reiza guys are definitly good and smart guys.

As i said, no regrets (frankly for 26 euros with all these tracks and cars...). It's already a must have.

My 2 cents. ;)

It is only in authentic mode, you cannot choose anything in it.
In full mode, you can select both TC and ABS even for super V8.
Do you want to drive it authentic or do you want to drive a spooled diff V8 monster with aids? :p

But interesting, that driving aids, that are being applied by the game itself, are being adjustable in setup, i wasn't aware of that, actually, i haven't tested the driving aids, since mid-beta. (where it wasn't functional) ;) @Martin Fiala So setup values can influence the driving aids intensity, when activated by the games driving aid system itself, it seems, to correct that. :)

Maybe someone have the time and would be so nice :) to make a list of cars, which "fake-car-name" stand for which in real life ...?! It would´t help allot with the immersion. Some cars a have no clue  what could it be IRL.

Furthermore I must correct my first opinion of the game. It sounded maybe a bit too harsh. The game is already not bad at all

The big "problem" if we call it so is.... right now we have a golden age of sim-racing so there a plenty racers or sim-racers out there of high quality.
To became a place i a simracers heart (or SSD) a game must offer something better or something new, which can compete against the big ones.
Every sim or even simcade i fire up, has something to offer for me, something special the others don`t have.

Automobilista 1 has maybe the best ffb/physics combination out there. This was the reason to play this game.
AMS2 right now has solid base, without beeing very good in any discipline. Not yet. We will see if it will become the best in something.... If not it will not stay for long time on the simracing radar :giggle:
