Due to a few delays it took Kunos Simulazioni a little extra time to deliver the announced multiplayer functionality to the community. Today the wait ends as issues have been fixed and tested and are now available via a Steam update for customers.

Besides a whole bunch of servers provided by Kunos the community has start hosting the first multiplayer rooms already and of course you are more than welcome to visit the official RD servers as well.

Absolutely agree. I reckon there should be a sin-bin of sorts for those borderline cases where someone just isn't very good and causes accidents via spin-offs or collisions on track re-entry but without malice or intent apparent. I reckon racing backwards might be proof beyond reasonable doubt though :)

If you had groups of servers they could funnel those players towards a sin-bin server where others could even get training from ghost cars etc to elevate them.

Hahaha. Let all those in the SinBin only race against each other. It'll be almost as bad as Maldonado vs. Kobayashi. :p

I don't know if anyone else knows or not since I haven't seen it brought up but if you press the tab key whilst racing it shows you the race positions including the gap to the drivers around you. Also in qualifying it shows everyone's fastest lap so you don't have to return to the garage to see what times people have set.

On a side note I'd love to go around punching every person who rams in the face. :poop:

EDIT: On a lighter note, a new update has come out :D.

Version 0.9.7
- Fixed ingame GUI keyboard
- Improved multiplayer collisions
- Fixed AI race fuel evaluation.

I don't get why there are penalties for corner cutting, but none for driving the wrong way.
Since the intentions of someone driving the wrong way in an online race are rather "questionable" to put it mildly, i think they should be kicked right back to pits or even better out of the lobby.
Can't be a feature that's hard to implement, i reckon.

0.10?
I don't think they will go back to lower version numbers...;)

Software versions do not necessarily follow the laws of mathematics/numbers/whatever. It is perfectly logical and has been seen in the past to have the updates going 0.9.0, 0.10.0, 0.11.0 etc. Besides, I'd be extremely surprised if 1.0 is just around the corner with multiplayer being in alpha and many other areas that could be improved.

"There are two schools of thought regarding how numeric version numbers are incremented: Most free software packages treat numbers as a continuous stream, therefore a free software or open source product may have version numbers 1.7.0, 1.8.0, 1.8.1, 1.9.0, 1.10.0, 1.11.0, 1.11.1, 1.11.2, etc."

I agree. There is still quite a bit of content that was officially supposed to be in version 1.0 bit who knows. I really hope they get pitting working soon.

I don't think so either, it is my wish/hope that they focus on MP and bugfixes/improvements in general before adding any more content. Cars and tracks are "easy" stuff to add anytime they want really. :)

Breaking news! Silverstone National confirmed for release before 6th September.

Anyone noticed that number of drivers isn't correct when you select server. It displays 0/22 when 22 players are connected instead 22/22. Also some info on race duration would be nice when you enter server, sometimes i forget how many laps was while waiting for booking to end. You can see lap count only before race starts (or i can't find it :) )

I agree more info on race progress would be good, but I imagine theres much more to come with the full release. Also the number you are seeing is not the number of drivers its the number of drivers currently on the server. so if its still in booking it will show 0.
