What is the Most Satisfying Corner Complex in Sim Racing?

Best Sim Racing Corner Sequence 01.jpg
We want to hear what our readers think is the most satisfying series of corners in sim racing.

Corner sequences or complexes are successive corners on a racing circuit grouped together, where your speed and attack angle through each corner affects your line through the next. Getting the timing, angle and speed correct through these sequences can have a major impact on your overall laptime.

Perhaps the most famous example in racing is the Eau Rouge / Radillion complex at Spa-Francorchamps. Most of us as sim racers know the feeling of hitting the entry at exactly the right angle and carrying a lot of speed, which eventually leads to a successful launch up the Kemmel straight. Conversely, most of us also know the feeling where you check your mirror at the wrong instant before beginning your ascent through the complex and awkwardly enter Eau Rouge, which then slows the car to a larger degree through Radillion.

Running fast and aggressively through a complex is among the best experiences you can have as a sim racer, which makes other sites such as the Porsche curves at Circuit de la Sarthe or Brunchen at the Nurburgring Nordschleife such rewarding corner sequences.

Lesser known, but no less rewarding corner complexes include the 7/8/9 sequence at Virginia, the S-curves at Suzuka, turns 9 and 10 at Termas De Rio Hondo (thank you Automobilista 2!), and Ascari at Monza. But we want to hear your favourites. Which complexes challenge you as a sim racer, but pay you back handsomely when you get them right? Let us know in the comments below.

Brands Hatch, from Hawthorn to Strings, just so crazy on the edge to get the absolute speed but not throwing it away.

1. I feel like Spa is Radiohead and Raidillon is OK Computer - yeah, it's great, it's fantastic, it's one of if not the best ever... but among us anoraks, maybe we can delve deeper? :)

2. This.
Sector 1 at COTA in a GT3!
Not really a track that I like but nailing this endless left/right combo with different throttle positions is a lot of fun!

3. China's 1-2-3-4. Man do I love playing around with this.

4. Zandvoort's Scheivlak - that downhill right-hander after the rollercoaster. That's my favorite single corner.

After 30 mins trying to beat my time I set 30 mins ago, the most satisfying turn is the inevitable sharp turn in to the nearest wall and rage quite.

1st times Nordschliefe with no track knowledge
Then it's one big corner complex till the back straight :D

Lately it's The Bus Stop aka The Inner Loop at Watkins Glen! Then the uphill Turn 7 "Toe" I believe it's called!

Idk the name or numbers of the corners, but for me it's the downhill section of the Nordschleife. Loots of rhythm there! Also sector 1 of Suzuka & sector 2 of Spa.

A few come to mind but one that sticks out is one particular combo. That is slinging a heavy stock car through the esses at Riverside. First you brake as late as possible and line up for T2. Mess this up and you got your work cut out for you. Get it right and you set yourself for some of the most magical combinations of corners ever created. The car sways back and forth at a high rate of speed as you make your way up to T6. The feeling of hitting all your marks and then slamming on the brakes as you dive into the uphill entering T6, puts a smile on my face every time.

There are so many good ones that others have already mentioned. One track I love that seems to be a lesser-known or less appreciated is Knutstorp. My favorite section on that track is from corners 3-7.

I've always enjoyed this track a lot. This post has made me realize it's been too long since I've simraced there.

Another one that is really only one corner, but it's incredible, is Bridgehampton's first corner. I specifically enjoy it after the first lap in the Lotus 98t. It's tricky to get it just right but so satisfying flying into that right hander at speed.

Mount Panorama particularly no chicane layout, old cars, brakes and tyre.

rFactor2 Isle of Man, can't put one complex above another. Hooking up through the flat out tree covered sections for mine is satisfyingly good while strangely terrifying for driving a sim. :p
