What is the Most Satisfying Corner Complex in Sim Racing?

Best Sim Racing Corner Sequence 01.jpg
We want to hear what our readers think is the most satisfying series of corners in sim racing.

Corner sequences or complexes are successive corners on a racing circuit grouped together, where your speed and attack angle through each corner affects your line through the next. Getting the timing, angle and speed correct through these sequences can have a major impact on your overall laptime.

Perhaps the most famous example in racing is the Eau Rouge / Radillion complex at Spa-Francorchamps. Most of us as sim racers know the feeling of hitting the entry at exactly the right angle and carrying a lot of speed, which eventually leads to a successful launch up the Kemmel straight. Conversely, most of us also know the feeling where you check your mirror at the wrong instant before beginning your ascent through the complex and awkwardly enter Eau Rouge, which then slows the car to a larger degree through Radillion.

Running fast and aggressively through a complex is among the best experiences you can have as a sim racer, which makes other sites such as the Porsche curves at Circuit de la Sarthe or Brunchen at the Nurburgring Nordschleife such rewarding corner sequences.

Lesser known, but no less rewarding corner complexes include the 7/8/9 sequence at Virginia, the S-curves at Suzuka, turns 9 and 10 at Termas De Rio Hondo (thank you Automobilista 2!), and Ascari at Monza. But we want to hear your favourites. Which complexes challenge you as a sim racer, but pay you back handsomely when you get them right? Let us know in the comments below.

Nordschleife, particularly the section in between the start of the lap and the end of the lap.
lol, I was going to say that.

Nice topic BTW

But if I have to pick only a few corner, another vote to Suzuka initial esses.

But as a Brazilian I also would like to bring up the Historical layout of Interlagos, mostly forgotten, sadly destroyed IRL but still alive in AMS. You can pick any part of it really, but would probably say from Curva do Sol to Curva do Laranja.

Curitiba is another great lost track, the final sector, which comprises the downhill "S" and then the last corner is great.

Hmm, which part of the Nordschleife to pick here? To me Hohe Acht up towards Pflanzgarten is the best part of racetrack ever built, because it is one tricky corner after another, massive fun and improving your delta will always put a smile on your face...

Sector 1 at COTA in a GT3!
Not really a track that I like but nailing this endless left/right combo with different throttle positions is a lot of fun!
yeah!
That and Suzuka's esses are my favourites, also the series of progressively slower turns at silverstone and in general every series of turns that doesn't have a "best line", but you have to discover it for each car.
Watkins Glen's bus stop is also really satisfing when you jutst manage to keep the car on track hitting all curbs.

Nordschleife, the part before the second karussel. Pflanzgarten - Schalbenswanz. Really fast corners and once you learn the track you can brake really late into the righthander before the second karussell. In fact I'd say all the way from Karussell to Schalbenswanz is perfect. A bit too narrow to race but perfect to just drive.

That being said I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Suzuka esses from first corner to S curves. Very fun to drive and wide enough to race with other cars. Sometimes even an overtake opportunity. Works pretty much in every kind of car too.

I am thinking about Magny Cours, this is a track made of curves sequences. It's been a long time I haven't raced on it but I still think about its flow and the way the curves follow each other.

I hated it when I was a kid, I loved it when I really got more serious in sim racing. It is not a too long track (I get bored quiet easily in a track like Spa if I'm not racing it at high speeds), not too complex to learn, but enough to experience various and technical curves, with a really good flow, including some interesting weight transfers (last turn is an amazing one).
Whereas I love every section mentioned, my personal faves are Redgate - Craner Curves, Old Hairpin, Schwantz, Mcleans (then it's spoilt by Coppice as I'm feck awful at that corner!)

Shout out as well to everything from Seat to Clark's at Knockhill.
Knockhill! I was just thinking about this one, short with an amazing flow between the corners. I remeber how fun it was with an overpowered canam car, each turn becaming a challenge.

I'm with you there, I rarely get that one right and the more powerful AI eat me into the chicane... I just seem to miss the eyepoint every damn time.

Portland International Raceway T4-T7 (w/Festival Curves) aka T1-T4 (w/o Festival Curves)
Suzuka, T3-T7
Donington, Craner Curves
Road Atlanta, Esses

For me personally it is the "Schöller S" at the Norisring in Nuremberg, Germany. A DTM track for many decades.

Great picks everyone, when Monaco had the guard rails right up to the edge of the asphalt it was hard to beat. In particular the pool complex.
