The Nürburgring is Coming to Forza Motorsport - Twice

With the launch date of October 10th fast approaching, Forza Motorsport has been busy with revealing content that is going to be available in the initial version of the game. Many fans have been missing the Nürburgring from the track list - now, the legendary Eifel circuit has been confirmed, though patience is needed to fully enjoy the track. Another venue has also been confirmed somewhat sneakily.

The Nürburgring is a venue that cannot really be missing from any track-based racing title that is not focused on the track roster of a single series, so players can breathe a sigh of relief: The Ring will be available at launch in Forza Motorsport - in its GP Circuit guise, that is.

Make no mistake, the circuit is far from a bad racing experience in its modern layout at just over 5 kilometers, as the reworked track that initially opened in 1984 is generally regarded as one of the better modern tracks in the world. But the actual crown jewel players are looking forward to in any racing simulation or game is the much longer, much older part of the venue.

Green Hell Delayed

At over 20 kilometers in length, the Nordschleife offers a unique challenge like no other circuit. Forza fans will have to wait for a little longer than October to tackle it, however: According to the official announcement, the Green Hell proper is going to join the circuit roster in Spring of 2024 as a free track.

What seems like a cruel teaser à la Assetto Corsa Competizione, where sim racers have wished for the Nordschleife to be added for ages and have been racing in the shadow of the legendary circuit, actually makes sense considering the graphical improvements Turn 10 and Microsoft are aiming for. Naturally, a track the size of the Nürburgring-Nordschleife would take longer to be polished up to spec compared to shorter circuits.

Speaking of shorter circuits: Another track has sneakily been announced, if you want to call it that - Mugello was added to the list of initial tracks on the official Forza website, including an added hint at it being announced on August 22nd. An actual announcement is nowhere to be found, however.

Return to Tuscany

Still, the Italian track located just north of Florence is a favorite of many and has been in numerous Forza Motorsport titles before, having made its return to Forza Motorsport 7 after being absent from Motorsport 5 and 6. The return to Tuscany should be a welcome addition to the game's track list.

With the confirmation of both the Nürburgring and Mugello, the list of tracks available at launch is extended to 17 - that leaves three more to reach the 20 locations that are going be available on October 10th, as the official website states. For an overview of all cars and tracks that have been confirmed thus far, check out our list of confirmed Forza Motorsport launch content.

I still can't get my head around the mentality of prioritising fps over actually playing a game at all - these people try to justify why they're better off for not playing a game at all - how does that make any sense? Not being prepared to lose an unnecessarily high fps by so much that you're prepared to not play at all obviously means that you care more about how a game is presented more than that it is presented and enjoyed for what it is, in which case you ain't a gamer, and probably have a very poor / ungrateful outlook in & of life too.
I would put the brakes on a little bit here if i were you mate. There is really no need to get that judgemental about this stuff and even go so far as to speculate about these people having a "very poor /ungrateful outlook in & of life too", thats really uncalled for.
I would look at it rather from the perspective: People simply know what they want and what their standards are and thats about it. Its a completely personal decision and someone else judging their entire character off of it is simply not a cool thing to do and adds nothing to a civilized conversation. Neither does putting rules on who is worthy of being a gamer and who not. There are two ways to a conversation:
1) Discussing the actual topic without refering to the person vs 2) Discussing the person. By doing 2 you can derail every conversation.

There's different ways framerate can impact racing games. Some games are just coded in a way that just makes everything faster when you have more FPS - literally it's like time just being sped up, even if it's not necessarily noticeable with a naked eye.

The other thing is physics calculations being tied in some way to the framerate. In that case, more FPS can be better, but it's not always the case. At some point in F1 Esports, people were purposefully limiting their framerate to 60 FPS (every PC game allows you to set a max FPS), because it made the curbs much less dangerous.

It's not only a problem for racing games, framerate matters a lot in several other esports games as well, to the point players would run low graphic settings on the best hardware available to get like 400 - 500 FPS for competitive advantage.

@b)b owning an Xbox doesn't prevent people from running a wheel. Even then, the game might successfully balance out pad VS wheel in terms of pace. In fact, even if the game wasn't cross platform, it wouldn't be unreasonable to cap FPS for multiplayer - especially since building a machine capable of 120 or more can be quite expensive. Capping the framerate for multiplayer is far from being a new thing in the gaming industry.
W-what? ONLY 60 FPS??? Unacceptable!!!! This is an insult to me as a sim racer!!! How can anyone play this??? Microsoft is literally nazis!

fh4 still the goat at 25fps

Hi mate. I won't write much here is this is all completely off-topic from the authors content, but I will say this...

I meant you no harm nor disrespect, but if we're arguing semantics then my response was entirely called for based on your comment, which you voluntarily jumped in both feet first and added your opinions that wasn't relevant to the article in any way, and done so just so that you could have your say. The irrelevance of your comment was the worst part of it as it was clearly more important to you to use an article without relevance to sound off your opinions than to either comment on the article or just not comment at all. To then say my response was uncalled for is frankly extremely ironic and complete non-sense. Besides, you're allowed to have your (preferably relevant) say and so am I.

I totally get and understand other people's perspectives - in this case you've spend a huge amount of money on a system (including display) and you "simply" want to get the most out of this, and in that regard that part alone makes perfect sense. Ideally, who wouldn't want this? But my point is that (being a realistic over an idealist or even perfectionist) things / life just doesn't always work in that ideal way and we often have to settle for less. To refuse to do that is to refuse the reality of the situation, which is everyone's right to do obviously, but to me (and I am allowed to express my own opinions just like you did) that mentality isn't based on how life really works, hence my comment(s). I wasn't attacking you - quite the opposite in fact as I was sharing my views and perspectives in how to see life a bit more realistically & positively and therefore how to get more out of life (or just gaming). Your comment (which I respect) is just so frustrating to read as it's no different from having a car but refusing to drive it unless you can go 120mph everywhere. Do you refuse to watch films as they're only shot in 24fps? Where is that line drawn?

Without wanting to sound negative in any way - aside from wanting to help a little I otherwise generally couldn't care less how any particular individual plays their games. The only exception to this is when I'm directly involved, like with my recent Raceroom mod for example. Play or don't play, makes no difference to me.

Maybe just make the most out of life dude, otherwise you will miss out on some good times, that's all I'm saying.

You ruined your actually good post with just this last condescending sentence.
But i guess everything that needed to be said was said. Cheers

If you can't determine the difference between a humble friendly suggestion and one of arrogant superiority then that's your problem not mine. Do and say what you want, I really don't care anymore.

More importantly than the whole fps thing to me will be how this game will even play and feel like. The entries 5, 6 and 7 were quite disappointing in this regard (simcade standards) so here's hoping Turn 10 put these six years to good use and elevated their game (as in their capability to make a good feeling simcade).
