rFactor 2 Delivers a Christmas Present: The Vauxhall Astra BTCC

'Tis the season to be racing! And in rFactor 2, you can soon be driving the Vauxhall Astra BTCC around a track of your choice. But that's not everything ...

While Opel has been very sparingly represented in motorsports recently, the Astra has had a presence in the touring car world. In RaceRoom, you could drive the Opel Astra TCR, and now the British version finally makes its sim racing debut.

Queue the Vauxhall Astra BTCC. Coming to rFactor 2 as part of the Christmas content drop.

And if you ever thought: "Where did Rich Energy go?", here's your answer:

This here Vauxhall will mark the first of two new vehicles for the Christmas content drop. While, due to leaks, the Vauxhall has been handled as the inevitable next release, it is yet unclear what the other new car for the Christmas content drop will be.

We may see the BTCC grid edging ever closer to completion with a Cupra León BTCC or a Honda Civic Type R joining the ranks. On the other hand, I wouldn't have anything against another LMH car. For that, however, the hybrid system would have to be included in rFactor 2.

Anyways, how are you finding Vauxhall joining the official rFactor 2 grid? Let us know in the comments down below!

It better be free, because otherwise it would be a spit in the face for those who bought full Q4 pack expecting it will have last content for this year, before 2023 Q1.

No what is a spit in the face is the people made rF2 a 80% sim and every thing else 90%+
Or no because all the complaints and bad reviews lost us any chance of rF3.
Have any of those bad reviewers upgraded their score ? of course not so when newbie goes to Steam at Christmas rF2 is last thing they would buy.
Talk about shittin' in our own nest.

Genuine question, could it even be said that rF2 is 80% finished, when one considers the very long awaited AI fixes in the pipeline, wet weather not really having been worked on in a long time, hybrid engines, older content not being kept up to date with newer content? That's not bashing, but rF2 seems to some people to be a perpetual WIP with very slow P.

I still wonder why australia/uk rebrands Opel as Vauxhall ? Maybe to not confuse left and right hand drive models :D

Anyway this Peugeot Opel Vauxhall BTCC looks sweet :)
Australia hasn't had anything branded as Vauxhall for 40+ years. The few Opel cars we had sold here up until ~2012 were badged as Holdens as that was the local GM brand.

I had missed updating two of my skins and they were left out of the 2022 BTCC opponents listing. Got that sorted, 18 now on board, waiting for 20.

Don't forget the 2 sets of skins for Dan Lloyd and Jack Butel Rnd 1-7 Rnd 8-10
Made 2 mods for easy switch ;)

For once :p

Would not think so, I was talking about ratings.
I would never deny people to have their say but say it and move on.
Trolls bashing rF2 10 years later ? why? what is it about rF2 gets up their skirts ?
Juveniles.

It's because there's a damned good sim buried in there somewhere and it's just disappointing when we have to carefully choose the right combinations of cars, tracks and conditions to get the best out of it. Personally, I'd rather keep pointing out its flaws in the hope we can drive them to improve in the areas that need it. For example, would the recent AI improvements have come if it wasn't for all those complaints?

Criticism is part of improvement. The more people that point out a particular problem, the more important they will perceive it to be.

And maybe the people who constantly complain ARE juveniles, but we are just the opposite side of the coin to those who come here and say things like "it's the best, no contest". That's the sort of statement that's just asking to be challenged.

Constructive criticism no problems but the majority is nothing more then muck raking from people that have nothing better to do.

Without ISI you have no gmotor guru
Without gmotor guru you have no rFactor 3.
ISI will never have anything to do with sim community after the way they were treated.
Basically made them the laughing stock of sims.
Happy days. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't see how perpetual bashing of RD has helped or will help rf2 to progress...

Paul just confirmed, this will be a paid DLC. I can't believe how many folks in both forums thought otherwise.

Yes, to confirm this will be a standard, paid DLC drop. Cheers

Seriously though they should give one car for free (and "for free" understand as base content for the base game we all bought). Like if I could try one car and I knew they are good fun to drive and race against the AI it would be less of a hard decision to get them all. But I see that at this point it's about making the most money in the safest way for their incompetent publisher.

so should they give away a FWD or RWD car? the two drive remarkably different. Online the RWD cars are dominate. But the experience is closer to many other rF2 cars so what is NOT KNOWN about how they drive? The FWD cars have a unique feel but users might feel cheated the first time they log onto LFM or the Comp System and get overwhelmed by the Bimmers and Infinetes.(if they can even join in at all since only having one car won't work if the server has ALL the cars)
So thus they now need to give away two cars(1 FWD:1RWD), two cars that cost S397 in licensing fees, dev $$, etc. Two cars that won't give any online experience due to the free user only have one or both of those cars. If S397 wants to allow the users to fully experience online then they must just give ALL THE BTCC content away. Just give them away. ACC has been giving away skins, but rarely cars. S397 has done lots of free cars even as recent as this summer.
S397 has blogged that two cars will be released, we are assuming the Cupra will be the 2nd, and also other goodies, so possibly another track, they have also committed to replacing the Free Silverstone but who knows if they have a non ground laser scanned track in the pipeline that is ready for release?
Going back to your original point: STEAM has a very short window for returns, but if your system is fully sorted and rF2 is already working, you can easily purchase a car and drive enough to gather the information you were seeking about offline racing before requesting a refund.

On one hand I am afraid to put money into rF2 as its future is very uncertain. On the other hand I drive an (Opel) Astra... a little bit different than this one of course, but still... makes it appealing.
Why ? if Rf2 stops you can still race offline as in Iracing all your dollars will be totally lost when that company dies

I don't care about online. I see your point though. The fact that giving away two cars is a critical financial issue is the very reason I am reluctant to buy even one at this point...
