RENNSPORT Revealed: New Sim To Start Closed Beta This Summer

RENNSPORT Revealed New Sim To Enter Closed Beta This Summer.jpg
Esports on an entirely new level? This is what RENNSPORT is aiming for – the upcoming sim project promises a completely different approach compared to most other racing simulators. Focusing on competition first and foremost, a completely fresh start wants to achieve maximum realism.

Munich-based Competition Company has been working quietly on the upcoming sim since 2020 and now made its efforts public. According to the RENNSPORT website, an entirely different approach is meant to lead the sim to success: “Starting from scratch, technological advancement and modern software architecture enables us to take the next step in virtual racing experiences.”

Esports

This is supposed to have its roots in the approach to esports already: A competition system is supposed to reward sportsmanlike behavior and competition spirit. Also, RENNSPORT is going to feature a base for broadcasts, including tools for interaction with the audience and streaming.

Mod Support

Additionally, the community is going to be another focal point – “Real Digital Ownership” is one of the core principles in this regard, encouraging modders to use RENNSPORT as a platform. “Your assets will be owned by you. And you can trade them through the marketplace of your choice.” Individual tracks and vehicles are mentioned specifically, another toolkit to promote community creations is planned as well.

BMW and Porsche

Speaking of vehicles: In BMW and Porsche, two famous manufacturers that have increasingly active in esports are already on board with the sim, meaning they have a leg up on marques like Mercedes-AMG who are absent thus far. The RENNSPORT website displays screenshots of the Porsche 991 II GT3 and the BMW M4 GT3 at the Hockenheimring.

RENNSPORT is set to use the Unreal Engine 5. Regarding the physics model, experts from the automotive industry will be consulted to create a realistic representation.

Closed Beta

While the announcement came seemingly out of nowhere, RENNSPORT is not far from a playable state: Already in summer of 2022, a closed beta is supposed to start to prepare the sim for an open beta phase in early 2023. The sim is being developed exclusively for the PC.

the job listing hints that they want to sell a video picture, and not develop a game. It cannot be that all programmers, modelers, 3D animators are not required by them.

I doubt there will be any AC2, since Kunos him self left the Kunos Simulazioni team a while ago. And he was like the brains of the games they did as a team. He is more like John Carmack, so you can imagine how important role he had. Lets hope I`m wrong and they are able to regroup and find some leader programmer, or even get Kunos back.

More choices are, in general, always welcome but we will have to wait and see how it all pans out. The website itself does not provide any real insight, at least not yet.
It's actually the other way round, it would be better if one or two of the most outdated sims currently on the market just died away and their players moved on to better sims. The multiplayer player base is so fragmented at the moment. We certainly don't need any more GT3 sims.

Yes, this is the list of vacancies I had in mind. They are all just for public relations. But not to create a game directly

Just some promises without anything real. They're going to create the best racing sim ever at their first try, doing better than companies which have been developping racing titles for much more than 10 years, more than 20 for some of them. OK... even Racing Legends had shown more. The UE5 isn't a choice, any new developper would make a bad move trying to go for another engine than UE5.

Well, if they can do it, that's good.

How many years to develop the core of the game, the physics engine? The only fully developped main current engine is Kuno's one, the other ones being more or less based on the good old ISI's one. And nektar pro came out around 2009? Rfactor (being itself an evolution of the previous engine) around 2005? Iracing and the goold old Papyrus games? Most modern sims are the result of many years of development. The madness engine, based on ISI, isn't fully mastered (thanks to Reiza it will be done) after many years, although its developpment has been faster than others thanks to SMS good marketing skills (crowd funding, money...).

BeamNG is still in development and not ready for the racing ; when it will be ready, it should become a major player in the sim racing industry, and this is much more believable than this annoucement.

Well, it seems I'm not hyped at all.
The only comparable announcement is microsoft flight simulator 2020, with microsoft money to develop a technology for the company, not just for a game, and the game is still not on the level of x plane in terms of physics, in a few years it will be, I assume.
Rennsport has this kind of money and support? Not sure going early access would work without big names involded in the project.

There's a lot to do to get some credibility.

it could also be a good sign tho, perhaps they have a solid team and tech already in place and now they'll have to find a way to sell it properly... a man can dream about companies like these right?
Here you are :) Still following, I`m so glad. Would you check my previous post, and try to answer it?

The marketplace probably implies a return to the modders and the owners/creators, by a fee, likely. It's literally a win, win situation, which makes it a lot more "attractive" to everyone, in the community. "Hope this isn't one of those NFT scams". I don't think so, they have used years to develop and financially support this game, not 100% sure, but it's likely to become a success. Take for instance Valve's market, which eventually was a success, and will remain forever.
How does a free to play game with mod support make money? Couldn't people just mod any premium car and change the year, and call it a day?

Hope this isn't one of those NFT scams.

To my knowledge Kunos have already stated they are working on AC2.

UE5?

Guess I better put aside $8000 for a video card to run it in VR...
