This week, Raceroom launched its latest DLC pack bringing three new cars to the sim. With an entry-level GT car, a powerful and stylish track weapon and a high-profile prototype, there really is something for everyone.

Fans of the game have now had a day or two to try out the trio of racers. So the big question before the weekend is, which is your favourite?

The cars

The On the Edge pack features three cars: the McLaren 570S GT4, the KTM X-Bow GT2 and the Mazda RT-24P DPi prototype. Each of these have their own story to tell with different stories in motorsport until today.

Whilst the Mazda and McLaren are now retired race cars, the KTM is just now entering the prime of its homologation in the real world. 2023 is a big year for the GT2 category with Maserati joining the fray, adding to the already fierce competition between Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Brabham and KTM. Several models from the class already feature in Raceroom making for good-size packs in-game.

The McLaren 570S is, as previously said, a more or less retired car. A handful of examples will still compete this year. But the majority of GT4 cars competing under the British name will be of the new Artura model. It's a shame that the newer car doesn't feature in the pack. However, it is always nice to see an older car preserved in simracing.

Finally, the RT24-P Mazda is well and truly in the past. This car didn't compete in the final few years of the IMSA championship, and now the DPi category is out-dated altogether. LMDh machinery now reigns in the top class of the American sportscar championship, so fans may be upset that one of the new prototypes aren't replacing this racer. A fan favourite back in its day, the Mazda will surely excite many an endurance racing enthusiast. So it's nice to see the model finally get the simracing glory it deserves.

For the simple reason that it is still a competitive car, the KTM is the model I would choose to drive in the sim right now. I can see myself watching one of the many SRO GT2 races this year and fancy a spin on track myself. But then again, with ACC also bringing out a GT2 pack this year, it's with the Mazda DPi that Raceroom sets itself apart from other titles.

Which of the three cars will you be driving in Raceroom this weekend?

Better than ice racing... How many race cars have you driven on real tracks? I drove over 9 different models and many super cars, and I can assure you, that RaceRoom has a much more realistic tyre grip model than iracing, especially in edge grip scenarios...
I would love to like Raceroom... Runs well, sessions can be set up quickly with opponent list and no loading time, faultless AI, fair pricing... but then I can slam on the brakes midturn and full throttle out of any corner... while in rFactor2, cars feel alive. But I'm aware I'm offtopic.

An X-Bow with plain old H-stick and regular clutch, thanks ;) Then ok with me adding modern day 2023 electronical nanny stuff. OK, so voting for the modern day X-Bow GT2, but just out of curiosity comparing to good old gear shifter versions available in other sims as either official - or mod content.

This game takes ages to start, and after that, you find out the controller isn't well recognized. I gave up.

Turn off ABS, TC and SC... perhaps, that's the issue you are having. Change the simulation level to "Get Real".

I wouldn't turn them off I'd suggest setting assists to Factory ABS & TCS...that way your getting a more realistic driving experience if that car does use assists or not, no point hampering your lap times just to be a self proclaimed " hardcore sim racer" lol...and yes, use the "get real" mode.

I tested all of these cars today and the only one I intend to continue driving is the McLaren. However, I bought the entire pack because I want to support the developers. RaceRoom is easily my favorite sim and I hope it has a bright future for years to come.
