This week, Raceroom launched its latest DLC pack bringing three new cars to the sim. With an entry-level GT car, a powerful and stylish track weapon and a high-profile prototype, there really is something for everyone.

Fans of the game have now had a day or two to try out the trio of racers. So the big question before the weekend is, which is your favourite?

The cars

The On the Edge pack features three cars: the McLaren 570S GT4, the KTM X-Bow GT2 and the Mazda RT-24P DPi prototype. Each of these have their own story to tell with different stories in motorsport until today.

Whilst the Mazda and McLaren are now retired race cars, the KTM is just now entering the prime of its homologation in the real world. 2023 is a big year for the GT2 category with Maserati joining the fray, adding to the already fierce competition between Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Brabham and KTM. Several models from the class already feature in Raceroom making for good-size packs in-game.

The McLaren 570S is, as previously said, a more or less retired car. A handful of examples will still compete this year. But the majority of GT4 cars competing under the British name will be of the new Artura model. It's a shame that the newer car doesn't feature in the pack. However, it is always nice to see an older car preserved in simracing.

Finally, the RT24-P Mazda is well and truly in the past. This car didn't compete in the final few years of the IMSA championship, and now the DPi category is out-dated altogether. LMDh machinery now reigns in the top class of the American sportscar championship, so fans may be upset that one of the new prototypes aren't replacing this racer. A fan favourite back in its day, the Mazda will surely excite many an endurance racing enthusiast. So it's nice to see the model finally get the simracing glory it deserves.

For the simple reason that it is still a competitive car, the KTM is the model I would choose to drive in the sim right now. I can see myself watching one of the many SRO GT2 races this year and fancy a spin on track myself. But then again, with ACC also bringing out a GT2 pack this year, it's with the Mazda DPi that Raceroom sets itself apart from other titles.

Which of the three cars will you be driving in Raceroom this weekend?

Except, is this really the "simracing glory" the Mazda DPi deserves? To be scattered in amongst an incomplete random assortment of GT3 and GTE machinery with period-correct IMSA liveries, no fellow DPis, or no LMP2 or LMP3 cars at all in a sim missing tracks constituting important IMSA events of the year like Long Beach and Road Atlanta? Surely it deserves better.

Better than ice racing... How many race cars have you driven on real tracks? I drove over 9 different models and many super cars, and I can assure you, that RaceRoom has a much more realistic tyre grip model than iracing, especially in edge grip scenarios and a better FFB/physics....
Im considering giving R3E another try, is there a way to get the onboard wheel animation to use like 540 degrees?

The mazda is getting what the AMS 2 Caddy DPi is getting sadly

both need more "friends" to race along

Had a 5 minute drive in all of them. All great, but you asked for it...
The Mazda is really fast and direct. Nice!
The GT2 KTM is a hand full, understeery beast. I guess I needed to warm the tires a bit more before pushing.
The sound of the McLaren.... Wow! love it.

So for now, the McLaren, but only after 5 minutes. Maybe it will change in the next 5.

Sigh, I really hope R3E will get the Caddy and AMS2 will get the Mazda. rF2 officially only have the Caddy too.

At least 2 please but then, even Forza Motorsports can't get all 3 DPi with the Caddy being delayed to post-release. I am not even sure smaller studios like S3 and Reiza can get another DPi. Hopefully Hypercars are far better for these games, never mind with Forza as they seemed like their licensing is completely rubbish now.
