NASCAR Rivals Arriving October 14th, Exclusive to Nintendo Switch

Motorsport Games is almost ready to release their next stock car racing game, NASCAR Rivals. Launching on October 14th, with pre-orders beginning on August 24th across retailers and the Nintendo eShop.

Included Features of NASCAR Rivals

A variety of game modes will allow players to race the all-American stock cars on the go.

"Race Now" is a quick-event deal. Select any driver or team and race at any track featured in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series.

A "Career Mode" allows you to customize your own NASCAR driver, join an existing team or create an entirely new one.

"Challenges" simulates events inspired by real-life situations on the race track. In those, you will have to fulfil a specific goal, given in the challenge description.

Apart from single-player modes, multi-player is also available in both "Split Screen" of 2 drivers and "Online Multiplayer" of up to 16 players per server options. New to the game is also a "Local Multiplayer" mode, which allows for LAN-party-like events for up to 8 drivers.

Furthermore, NASCAR Rivals will allow you to create custom paint schemes in the in-game "Paint Booth". Unique driver avatars will also be creatable with a variety of appearances, sponsor logos and more.

NASCAR Rivals is Motorsport Games’ latest racing experience that meets fans where they are, giving real-life drivers and NASCAR fans alike the ability to take it on the go,” said Dmitry Kozko, CEO of Motorsport Games.

As we continue to work alongside NASCAR to grow its gaming franchise, we’re excited to give players the opportunity to out-do themselves on the track wherever they are thanks to the Switch’s portability.

It will be interesting to see how a serious racing game plays on the Nintendo Switch. Between the Mario Kart's and Legend of Zelda's of this world, will NASCAR fit in to the fray?

More importantly, do you own a Switch and will you get this newest NASCAR video game? Let us know in the comments down below!

Can't believe these guys will be around in 6 months - they've done a great job of losing $23M on $5M in sales over the first 6 months of 2022. Everything they touch turns to the brown stuff...

I have a Switch and a PC. Yeah, I'm that kind of combo guy. :D

The PC is for simracing (and high-end games) and the Switch is for easy gaming on the go or the couch with the family. On the Switch there's a plethora of 'racing' games (MK8 being king) but seldom something in the vicinity of a 'sim'. Like mentioned before, GRID is the closest to it. I have it and I can inform you that wheel support is not done well for this game, unfortunately, unless you get Hori'$ "Pro Deluxe" Nintendo-licensed wheel. I've tried plugging in simple, non FFB, Logitech wheels but they don't get recognised so, that's a bummer on the wheel-support department. I also have a Switch pro controller with analogue triggers (yep, they exist, third party though) but that doesn't get recognized either. You can drive Gran Turismo style with both sticks though but that's no way to 'sim' in my book.

Furthermore, I don't know if there's a NASCAR market among Switch users. This may be perhaps an expensive user test from Motorsport Games, trying to find buyers for their... racing software. Wreckfest is on my wishlist and I think that's a title more in line with what a Switch user would enjoy playing.

My 2 centavos. :coffee:

Like Dzul, I have one for casual gaming. Other than Art of Rally, I don't have any 'driving' games and it's mostly full of RPGs. I'm considering wreckfest though....

I've got a switch, Think all it has on it is Grid and some motorbike game .....screen is to small for my crappy eyes.

I've got a Switch too. I bought 3 years ago because I love Super Mario games. I played Mario kart about 140 h in total, most of the time online races. One of my friends bought a switch 2 years ago and sometime we use to play together .

No reason a sim(ish) racing game couldn't come to the Switch, and hopefully this'll be decent.

But... seriously, Motorsport Games? You cancel NASCAR 22 for PC and consoles (instead promising to release a 2022 expansion for the broken NASCAR 21 game no-one is playing) but continue to put dev effort into a title for the Switch, of all things? Resources (human and financial) that you could have put towards improvements for an actual 2022 video game for PC and consoles? Never mind how that will piss off NASCAR fans and sim racers... I doubt NASCAR, who wanted annual flagship game releases, will be pleased. Is this really working to help "NASCAR to grow its gaming franchise"? I doubt it.

Seems like yet more questionable decisions in the long line of iffy decisions from Motorsport Games.
Gonna be honest, I think a NASCAR switch title is a great idea. Motorsport Games has massive issues and I do not have high hopes or expectations for this game. That said, assuming a competent studio, like pretend this is released by Polyphony, or S397, or hell even the Heat game studio I forget the name of them, idk pick your favorite studio. A NASCAR game on the switch would be great, got a long bus ride to work? Enough for a nice little 50 lap race everyday. NASCAR Thunder 2004, but for Switch, would be amazing. Now, given the latest release, I'm incredibly doubtful of anything Motorsport Games is putting out, hell I've been waiting years for an Indycar game and I honestly doubt it'll ever actually release given the financial issues, and would be extremely skeptical even if it did.

Any RD members even use a Switch? I can't imagine other than their kids having one I doubt there's many?
I don't know why everyone here is so judgmental about anything that's not PC and full sim...been a RD member for 6 years (and visited much longer as a guest), doing only online sim racing on PC for several years now with full 80/20 rig, DD wheel, High end pedals, Triples, etc, so I'm very much the "hardcore sim racing nut"...but I also own a Switch and very much enjoy playing Mario Kart 8 and other non-racing games on the go (just got a Steam Deck as well for the same reason, but for titles like the F1 series and non-racing PC games)...This notion of 'only grown adults do sim racing and only kids play games' is quite antiquated...there's no reason why people can't like both.

I completely understand the sim racing world balking at the idea of another Motorsport Games' venture...but they're not trying to create the next big sim here, they're venturing into the MUCH BIGGER market outside of sim racing and that's probably a better fit for them tbh.

People seem to forget that simracing probably wouldn't be where it is today, both in terms of overall popularity and mainstream availability of high end hardware, if not for the immense popularity of console racing games like Gran Turismo inspiring a generation to get into motorsport and/or simracing, either as a fan or as actual drivers...consoles (and, for a time, arcades) have long been the gateway drug to simracing...let's see what happens.

Who's being judgemental? I've got a bartop arcade with just about every arcade driving game released on it, have played casual racing console games all my life. I expect most people primarily come here for that full sim stuff though.

Ultimately if people want to read articles about casual driving games then it's not a problem, the option to not read is available. Something like retro reviews of old driving games would be cool with me but would anyone want to read?

To me, the handling-wise looks more arcade than the three following Simcades are F1 22, Gran Turismo 7 & Forza Motorsport Reboot.

Please don't get upset over my comment and we'll see how is the game going to be like when it comes out plus future updates.
